What is this?

The Comic Translation Project is a group effort to bring Cyanide & Happiness to other countries. We're looking for funny and creative bilingual people to join our team, and translate our comics to other languages while still maintaining the same type of humor.

It's no easy task considering how many of our comics are plays on words and American references, which is why we need funny and creative people.

What's in it for me?

Translators will get their name on each comic they translate. This means that once C&H gets big in your country, you will get laid literally every night. Also, anyone who helps out gets a free shirt plus something we haven't announced yet.

How do I join?

Follow these simple steps:

Download the following four audition comics:
Comic 1 (http://www.flashasylum.com/db/files/translation_project/1.jpg)
Comic 2 (http://www.flashasylum.com/db/files/translation_project/2.jpg)
Comic 3 (http://www.flashasylum.com/db/files/translation_project/3.jpg)
Comic 4 (http://www.flashasylum.com/db/files/translation_project/4.jpg)

Using Photoshop or MS Paint, erase the current text and write in your version of the comic in whatever language you are applying for. Quality editing is nice, but not required. We're mainly looking for humor.

Tip: Don't revamp the joke completely unless it doesn't work in a given language. We're looking for creativity but only where it's needed. This is not a rewrite contest, so please try to conserve the joke as it exists, unless there's absolutely no way it can translate and still be funny.

Email the four files to explosmtranslationproject@gmail.com, using the following guidelines:

Subject: "Language: Alias", where "Language" is the language you are applying for, and "Alias" is a unique nickname you want to go by during the audition process. Don't use your actual name. Your alias is what you'll be referred to during the public phase of the auditions so that we don't have to expose your email address to everyone. It helps us keep track of who's who.
Body: You can really put anything here. If you want an extra edge, tell us a little bit about yourself and why you think you'd make a good translator.
Attachments: Be sure to include all four files! Keep their names the same as well.

I set up a filter that will categorize emails based on the language in the subject line. Any email that doesn't fit the above template will not get through the filter. The following is an example of what an audition email might look like. Note the subject line.

This phase of auditions will last exactly two weeks, so be sure to get your emails in by October 31st.

Again, the email address is explosmtranslationproject@gmail.com.

I can't wait to see what sort of interpretations we get on the comics. Get translating!
