I think that teachers deserve to get a pay raise. my parents are both teachers, my mom works 9 hours a day, but she gets like 40 bucks in a week

ITS CRAP!

my dad works at a university so he gets paid a little more. But its still ridiculose.

my dad eventualy quit it beacause his boss hated him, so now he does add jobs every now and then.

but my mom still teaches

opinions?

P.S: how do you spell ridiculose?

Every person working any occupation in the world wants a pay raise. Do they deserve it? Yeah, some do. Teachers definitely do, but it's a matter of to what extent. Around here teachers make a decent living, and they get great benefits, which can probably said of most teachers.

Your parents don't deserve a pay raise because they obviously didn't teach you how to use the English language very well. Bring up your argument when you learn the principles of grammar.

Despite our young friend's inability to use the English language correctly, he has a point. There are lots of good teachers out there that clearly don't get paid enough.

AND! Who knows, if our teachers got paid more, then maybe our young friend would learn how to make better threads.

Depending on where you work, teachers make a good salary, ESPECIALLY since they only work 9 months out of the year. If I was making 50K and had summers off, I wouldn't complain.

I think one of the major problems at the moment is that a low salary is a catalyst for shit teachers. Let me explain the cycle:

Person is accepted to become a high school teacher.
Teacher is passionate about their subject. They teach well, receive compliments, referrals, and are experienced.
However, they cannot move up in the ladder whatsoever. Why? Because they want to teach their subject, not sit a desk all day and organise student admissions.
Teacher is stuck with literally a fixed income, and has no incentive to consistently apply effort to their job.
Teacher gets fed up and wants a raise.

My sister is a teacher, and though she's only 24 and still doesn't need to worry about astronomical incomes (as she intends to become the head of a high school science department, or something) she says that it's more than normal that teachers end up complaining and whining.

Teachers need a pay raise. They have every right to want the pay raise. It's bad enough some countries like the UK are experiencing brain drains, forcing teachers who intend to teach what they want to teach end up taking it a down a whole notch, making it far less interesting. But that's a whole other topic which I can in depth into if needed.

Of course they need a pay raise, along with Firefighters, Police Officers, and some other civil duty type job that I can't think of. It's shitty that the people that teach us the shit that we need to be a good citizen are the people making the less money than actors, and professional athletes.

I agree, I mean when a celebrity gets hundreds of thousands of dollars per episode of the tv series they act on is fucking ridiculous, especially if you compare it to how much people like firefighters and teachers get a year. I mean if you add up a teacher, firefighter and cops yearly income, it doesnt even compare to how much Ashton Kutcher got every couple of episodes of That 70's show he did.

Yes, teachers deserve pay raises. Obviously not in all districts (as some actually pay teachers decently), or all teachers, even. But a lot of them definitely do deserve raises. Literally 1/3 of the staff at my high school left this year for different schools because they weren't getting payed enough. Now we have shitty teachers that actually deserve to be payed that little.

If someone wants to remake this thread, but well, go ahead.

I'mma closing this.

Rob edit: for the love of god, if a thread is crappy don't reply to it. A lot of you are investing time in replying to a thread that's obviously gonna get dumped. It's a waste.
