View Full Version : Mod Schedules
Since everyone is freaking out about needing more mods or super mods because there are times when no mods are on... I suggest that maybe there be an established schedule for mods so atleast someone is always on. We can go over who is in what time zone, and construct the schedule on who is available at what times. Atleast one mod should be on duty for two hours, max. If this works out, we could always have someone available to dump those nasty threads. Of course, any Mod can still be on even if it's not during their time.
It might work more for super-mods, because they can give infractions and dump threads in every forum.

Thats way too serious.
Well serious times call for serious measures. :salute:
No but, it's just an idea really. It eliminates the need for 10 more mods.
And it doesn't have to be super strict.. if they're like 15 minutes late for their "shift", it's not like that matters too much. Also two hours may seem too much on the computer, now that I look at it. 1 hour is sufficient, though.

Modding the forum shouldn't feel like an actual job, period.
The mods are people, mostly teenagers that volunteer to do a job that they don't get paid for. I doubt they'd be happy if it was more like a fairly thankless job.
Asking them go give, even an hour a day, to sit and wait for reports to roll in is stupid and presumptuous

I'm not saying like it should be a job, more like:
Mod 1: "I'm normally home at like 11pm, I could check on the forums around then."
Mod 2: "Well I'm normally up doing nothing at 5am, I'll check then."
etc..etc..

Fairly thankless? Do you know how many assholes have tried telling me how I should do this, that, or the other? Modding is a thankless activity. But that doesn't matter. No one become a mod because they want to be thanked for doing their job.
The schedule idea is horrid. There is no way I'd cancel on friends to mod any forum. Or that I'd be willing to say ahead of time, "I'll be on the forum at this time to, at least, this time."

And if a mod doesn't have a time they're normally home? I never know around when I'll be home, if I'll be able to get on the computer, or even if I'll be in town before, usually, the day-of.
I didn't suggested mods take the job to be thanked. I did say that you can bet your ass they don't want to be forced into a schedule where they have to stay online for a bunch of people who, the majority of, don't even notice what they do.

I know. I was merely expanding on your point.

Hmm. Maybe once you start paying me a fairly hefty salary considering I'd have to quit my job for that to work. There usually is atleast one mod on, we don't desperately need mroe mods on, and on average any bad posts last about 1 hour before someone that can do something about it comes on anyway.
Turning modship into a job will suck all the fun out of the forum. Modship is more of a privilege and trust thing from the admins that they'll allow you to do things other users can't for the betterment of the forums.

I think Shagg wants to get modded. :indiff:
The mods are doing fine enough. The bigger a forum gets, the laxer the rules get and the more you can get away with. Deal with it.
Schedules are a horrible idea. If we need more mods, that's one thing. But schedules would make an already nasty job less fun than ever.
