View Full Version : Thread per hour
There seems to be a few raids these days, and so I thought, that maybe making people only able to make one thread per hour would be more handy. This would give the admins more time to get on to dump the threads and ban the raiders.

Those could hardly be called raids.

Don't make this rule in spame, obviously. Other than that it seems like a reasonable idea.
If you've already made a thread during your hour and have another one, you could just send the info to someone else and get them to make it.

Or it could be lifted to two threads, and it drops when you become somewhat regular or something

Or maybe the raiders could post Goatse in pre made threads.

I like this idea. There is no reason that someone needs to post more than one thread in an hour anyways, so I do not see this rule having any adverse affects.

What if they discover two thread-worthy topics? Why should they have to wait an hour to post the second one?
It's a dumb idea because like Mac said, raiders don't need to be able to make threads anyway.
If they discover a 'thread-worthy topic', they can simply wait. There's no deadline. :indiff:

I don't know, I think this infringes on our posting freedom a tad too much. We still believe in democracy and shit, right?
Oh well, like Assassin said:

Oh they could just reinstate the no threads until 25 posts rules :indiff:

Worst idea in the comment dump.

Well soon as I saw it, I thought stupid idea, because as above if someone discovers 2 thread worthy topics, or 3, then that means they have to wait an hour between, and who really is going to want to wait? If you do introduce it, make it not count after you become somewhat regular. But that could just introduce post boosting.

Anyone who spends their time looking for articles worthy of putting in the GF is pathetic. I don't think I've even seen someone post more than 2 topics in a DAY, let alone an hour. And anyway, I'm sure that one of those 2 almighty topics could be delegated to one of the other 4 forums for discussion, if it's too important to be left alone for an hour.

There's also no point to it. Just make more totally unnecessary work for Kwanza or whatever.

Kwanza loves unnecessary work.

Oberlin, as far as I understood, they want it so that if you post a thread, you can't post another ANYWHERE, except spame, for another hour.

Yeah, this is a fucking horrible idea. What if.. Oh, I don't know, you wanted to make a post in the GF, then a post in Media, then show off some art in Showcase and Showdown? :indiff:

Then you're fucked Tempest. Duh.
Who apart from myself, who actually hangs out on explosm for 3 hours? No one. So basically as stated above it can have potential if you set a drop stage, like 100 posts. Or just don't implement it and instead implement no thread creating till you have 14 posts.

I do. :indiff: But that's not the point of this post. I think the 25 posts and 2 weeks thing was good, and should come back.

I agree, in fact I agree to the point of a poll.
Like, wow, a poll, http://forums.explosm.net/showthread.php?t=12089
