Simply put, Dane Cook sucks massive nutsack.
He claims he is a comedian, I claim he is a steaming pile of shit.

What do you think?

To me, he's THE stand-up comedian for the MySpace generation. I consider him an overrated piece of shit comedian, but I've met way too many people who see him as a comedic genius. But look on the bright side, he's living his 15-minutes of fame and soon he'll be yesterday's news.

You didn't explain why you don't like him. I've heard lots of people say they hate him because he never tells an actual joke. He just tells stories with lots of emphasis on funny words. I find him hilarious, but that's just me. (and millions of other people)

Also, SLjimbolian, you say he's living his "15-minutes of fame", but I guess you don't know that he's been doing stand-up for almost 10 years now, has been in a number of films and had his sophomore album, Retaliation, go platinum. He has millions of dedicated fans, and I'm sure his "15-minutes" are no where near over.

A few jokes of his jokes I have heard done by other comedians.
I remember watching some American reality tv/stand up hybrid on TV, and one of those guys had a joke that Dane Cook did too. Also that Dimitri Martin guy, I'm sure one of his jokes were done by Cook as well.
I just think that he has next to no talent, and the fact that he seems to be pretty popular just makes me hate him more.

There ARE no new jokes. If you can think of a joke, it's very very unlikely that it hasn't been done before. The material is only HALF of what makes a comedian funny. The other half is delivery, which Dane Cook has down to a T. If you think about it, a lot of his stuff isn't funny to just think about.. But when you think about Dane Cook performing it, it brings a laugh. I love Dane Cook for the same reason I love Mitch Hedberg (who is really a subpar comedian, if you think about it), they have amazing delivery.

Well, he re-uses the jokes of currently performing and fairly well-known comedians word for word.
And I don't really think his delivery is all that great. Maybe it's just cause I generally hate American comedians. He justs talks about mundane shit like he is superior to everyone and everything.

Dane Cock is great on delivery, and has made me laugh a few times. But he isn't the best, Demetri Martin is much better than he will ever be, just a fact.

I personally think he's funny and yes his delivery is good.

He was accused at one point of stealing Louis C.K.'s jokes.. Unfortunately, if you listen to the original Louis C.K. act, you'll see in a moment why those jokes deserved to be stolen. Anyone who can turn funny material into an unfunny act shouldn't even GET rights to a joke.

Honestly, if you are a fan of comedy you would know that this happens all the time. Carlos Mencia has been "stealing" jokes since he stepped on stage, but the guy has his own show, so what does that tell you? Rodney Dangerfield, has stolen a few jokes in his time, and it didn't stop him from playing the clubs.

A lot of people don't like Dane Cook because he got so popular so fast and when that happens, people tend to shit on you. Maybe its not him you hate its that he is actually really popular and you hate it when people jump on a bandwagon when you have been listening to his stuff since you were 13 and now you can't because the 12 year old down the street has him on his myspace.

So what? I still stand by my position and he's still an overrated jackass. Should I judge the guy because of the ridiculous amount of exposure he's getting nowadays? That depends, but I'm not wild about Dane Cook and I doubt I'll ever try to take the time to sit down and listen to some of his material.

I find him to be, meh, I like Mitch Hedberg, George Carlin and Stephen lynch a lot better. Even though I think Dane Cook is good on delivery, I don't find his jokes genuinely funny.

Comedy is just a matter of taste. I personally love people like George Carlin, Jim Norton, Louis CK, and Rich Vos. Other people don't.

Thing most people do not get though is that Comedians HATE joke thieves. Such as Carlos Mencia, Dane Cook, Jay Mohr and Dennis Leary.

He makes me laugh. As a person, I find him to be kind of a pompous ass, and I definately wouldn't call him one of the funniest comedians I've ever heard. But I can't lie and say that I've never laughed at his comedy.

I liked him untill all the general population at my school nowadays consists of OMG SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE ON MY PUSSY!

He's made me laugh a couple of times but most of his act makes me feel like he tries too hard. I find Mencia to be a much worse comedian than Cook because at least Cook isn't always preaching.

Put simply, Dane Cook annoys me. He's a shit comedian, and an even shittier actor. Sure, MySpace was one of the reasons he's well known, but even Tom Anderson has said "My turds are funnier than Dane Cook's jokes."

Sure, you can't find one subject that hasn't already been talked about by a hundred other comedians. But when you take acts, and just change a few words, some people will catch on...

I don't like his exaggerations, but I do like MadTV's parody of him, because it further exaggerates HIS exaggerations, therefore showing, what a shit comedian he is.

Stephen Lynch ftw.

He's kind of funny sometimes. And I'm not just blowing this out my ass by saying he's overrated. He just kind of became Frat Boy comedy too fast. Now he's doing all this stuff with movies. I don't think he's a sellout or an asshole or anything, he just kind of does his thing.

Demetri Martin is very funny, as some stated.

I have all his albums, and I've like him for quite a while...then he got really well known and now he sucks. If I hear someone else mangle "The BK Lounge" routine, I am going to slice my wrists...shut the fuck up, seriously. It's only funny the 10,000th time.

Patton Oswalt is one of the greats on the current comedy scene. His latest album was filled with just great material. Granted Comedy is relative cause we all have different tastes but still Oswalt is great on his delivery and energy and you have to admit that.

Well if this whole time he's been attached to "You Suck at Photoshop" then he must be pretty funny. Take a look at the season finale.

Louis CK is fucking hilarious, there's only two comics I've ever heard that have had me literally laughing on the floor, as in lung busting laughter. Those two are Louis CK and Demetri Martin. I consider both of them comedy legends, though others don't.

There are plenty of other comics that I really like, that make me laugh, but never non-stop laughter. Comics such as Daniel Tosh, George Carlin and Mitch Hedberg.

Dane Cook fits into neither of those two categories, I've chuckled at some of the shit he says but he's not really all that funny. Most of his "jokes" he simply delivers at high volume with plenty of hand motions, and it makes the audience roar with laughter. I pretty much consider him a more modern slapstick comic, the Gallagher of our time; as in only buffoons find him actually funny. I place him in the same category as Carlos Mencia, Jeff Dunham, and "Kenny and Spenny"; in the unfunny column. He's popular but frankly untalented, a trend that for some reason has been very successful for "entertainers" lately.

What Miley Cyrus is to music, what Soulja Boi is to rap; that's what Dane Cook is to stand-up comedy.

Are you fucking kidding? Louis C.K. is hilarious, and he has new material all the time.

Dane Cook, in my opinion isn't very funny. He has good delivery and all that, but he doesn't say anything I haven't thought of myself or heard before.

Also, Christian Finnegan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EL5sCQUFJvQ&feature=related)'s (not that funny) special was a lot like some Dane Cook bits I've seen. Not sure who came first though.

Although this has been said, I think the thing that makes Dane Cook fairly funny is his delivery. I AM however bothered by the popularity of it. I'm not mad about his part, but more the dozen or more people I've had bring up some of his joke scenarios in normal conversation like it was their own life.

Demetri Martin has great original stuff that you can sorta relate to.

In all honesty, I didn't even smile during any of Dane Cook's stand up routines. I tried to see the humor, I really did; but in the end, I find him just obnoxious and lacking any jokes. Simply put, his form of humor just doesn't reach me in any way.

The comedians I find funny are people such as Ron White (not the other Blue Collar comedians for they blow ass), most of the members of the Daily Show (notably John Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Demetri Martin, and Lewis Black), Jeremy Hotz, Daniel Tosh, a so many others.

The screeching gets old really fucking fast. I'll laugh at his first one or two jokes, then be :indiff: for the rest of the act.

I think Dane Cook is alright, nothing special, but he still makes me laugh.

Demetri Martin and Daniel Tosh are funny AND hot.

I wouldn't say all of that about him but he, like Carlos Mencia, isn't funny. None of his jokes seem to be funny or very original.

So? Does that make his reasoning invalid, because he's a dirty elitist? I'll answer for you: no.

I just find him annoying, not funny, and agree that his fame is largely due to internet based people finding group appeal. But that doesn't really matter. My opinion has nothing to do with their opinions. There is no debate in matters of taste.

No. The Google ads take common words on a page and use them to place advertisements. It is not a coincidence.

I don't mind him being famous. But he's got so many viewers that think he's a god, that they retell his jokes EVERYWHERE. So, I hate him.

He was awesome in Simon Sez though.

Yeah, don't do that.

And I didn't say it did, I just thought it seemed rather trivial. Turning up your nose at a comedian because you believe he's too lowbrow.

I hate the guy for ripping off Dimitri Martins shoe store joke. I know it's been mentioned before, but the guy's still a dickwad for doing it. Dimitri's delivery was perfect, and the joke was hilarious. So there's no "HE DID IT BECAUSE HE CAN DOES IT BETTERZ" argument here, and the argument itself is stupid. Just because he can do a joke better (Which in his case means with a lot of yelling and flailing), doesn't mean you can rip people off. I think I can write Harry Potter better than JK Rowling, doesn't mean I get to steal all her characters and plots.

And yes, I do realise that argument is a year old.

The first time I heard his Kool-Aid joke on the radio (more than a year and a half ago) I found him funny. Now that I've heard him 10000000 times on MySpace, watched his "new" routines, and seen him get into some terrible movies, I don't find him funny.
Maybe it's just cause I generally hate American comedians Wee that would be alright, caus Dane is infact Canadian.

I think he's funny, but then again, I probably haven't listened to anything he's done in the past 3 years or more. That's just kind of a guess. I remember sitting at a friend's house during the last election and watching his old Comedy Central stuff on DVD. I haven't seen anything he's done since. I have no issues with him. I guess I just don't take my comedy that seriously.
Bill Cosby is still my favorite.
