I think a good way to be able to find specific threads, would be able to search threads with a thread tag. Like, if you search with the thread tag "Games", every thread that has that tag shows up on the search bar and etc..etc.

This way, you could find the stuff you are interested in easier.

Thats why the threads are in Sections. That is, GF, Spame, G&S, MW, DZ and so on and so forth. You can already search for posts and threads too.

Yeah, there are different threads, but if you search the Games Thread Tag, only the games will come up, instead of books, tv, movies, etc..etc. Also maybe you can search the thread title AND the tag to get a more specific thread.

Umm.. everyone knows that exists. But if you search, say.. "Robot", a new hit Tv-Show.. possibly dozens of Robot threads will come up, but not the one about the Tv-Show. If you searched it with the TV-Tag.. you'll get your specific thread. Or you can just search the Tv Tag and see all of the recent Tv Thread Discussions.

We used to be able to just click on a thread tag and it would show all of the threads with just that tag. I don't know why they took it off. I only knew of it for a short while, I don't know how long it was up. It got taken off before the reset, I think.

You would just get a bunch of spame threads.

There aren't that many Robot threads. Seriously, pick the name of any popular TV show and you won't find a bazillion threads that share its title. In fact, there'd be far more "TV-SHOW TAG" or even "SCI-FI GENRE TAG" threads than there would be "Stargate: SG1" threads. Your entire idea is crap, sir.

If Explosm was some colossal forum it might be a good idea.

The thing is, I just searched thread titles with the word robot in it and there was four threads total, and that's how it's gonna be for any other search. Even a fun word like penis only offers 27 results, and if you can't be bothered to look through that many results than you don't deserve the thread

He's right about thread tags being partially useless due to the lack of a sorting feature.

Kwanza, and plug-ins out there for this?

Hey um, isn't there an advanced search for all that stuff?
Oh wait, I just realised thread tag. I was just thinking about normal search!
Heres what I usually use anyways.

I always just assumed that Rob had an inbuilt 'HEY ROB' thread tag search function. Along with Dave and Kwanza.

I'm still trying to figure out why everyone searched "Robot" in the search forum.. that was an example, and I'm pretty sure it's not a Tv-Show anyway. :ahe:

But, this way we can make more use out of the tags.

I think Vbulletin has a filter built in, I've seen it on a bunch of forums.

We just used your own example. Try something else. Do a forum search for a real tv-show, you'll find very few threads on it.

Plus, this would really only have a use in the Media forum, right? Because nobody is going to search the GF for all threads labeled with the "REAL LIFE" tag. That being said, Rob has confirmed that he's dividing up the Media forum anyway, so you can just use the regular search function that RabidMonkey pointed out.

No man, that tag was created as a warning to him about which threads to avoid.
