With only 2+ Weeks left until this monster of a game is released... this thread is to talk about this prodigy. What are you excited about? What are you disapointed with? What songs do you wish were on it? Also, we can talk about updates (if there are any left) or what band you are gonna make.
I, personally, can't wait for this to come out. When Guitar Hero came out, all I talked about was a Drum Hero. So when I heard there were drums in this, I dropped dead. I know there are some drummers on Explosm, like me, so you must have been excited too. Also, I think there is a pretty good song list. I would of liked more, but what 'cha gonna do?
Here are some videos of Rock Band at E3 with the Harmonix-team playing some songs:

EDIT:
Although I'm pretty sure EVERYONE knows of this game.. here's some information on it:

Shagg, do you have a 360? Cuz I think we should get an Explosm band going.
I've already got the game itself paid off, but I have an extra drum set to pick up as well.

If had anything near the kind of money I'd need, I'd definately buy at least the drum pack. Unfortunately, the guitar doesn't look very fun on any of the songs I've seen.

I am not sure if I am going to get it... But I hope I can get it.
Anyway, I haven't followed this game as much as GH3. So I don't know hardly any songs thats going to be on it or what any features are.

I'd get it if it weren't so expensive, and if I had online capability on my 360. If I can convince 3 of my friends to split the money, I'll definitely pick it up. It seems so much more fun than GH3, with 4 players (which I'm getting as well...)
The set lists are great, the gameplay looks good. I don't like the noteboard layout though. The rectangles don't look as nice as GH's circles, in my opinion.

I'm a little disappointed with the song list, and a lot of the videos I've seen the songs have been pretty simple. I know that the higher tier ones will be more difficult, that's obvious, but compared to Guitar hero it doesn't look like it'll be as challenging. Drums might be fun though.

I'd be more interested if any DLC would be cheaper than Guitar Heros. I hope they live up to their word and keep working on releasing more and more DLC.
Yeah, the guitar parts aren't supposed to be like Guitar Hero. Because alot of songs with GREAT guitar, have boring bass, drums or vocals. They're trying to make the game almost equal, so that every part has it's own unique-ness.
But, I think the new customization options are awesome! With the band logo, band name, and even able to make your own musician will rock everything.
Oberlin: I don't have one until Christmas. :wail:
I got GHIII for Wii, so I'm getting this for 360.
It should be great fun with 3 other friends, both online and (especially)offline.
Though nothing on the songlist really stands out for me other than Welcome Home and Don't Fear the Reaper.
They could've chosen better RHCP, Metallica, Boston, NIN, and Nirvana songs. :ahe:
Shagg
11-03-2007, 10:01 AM
Well, I'll agree with you on the RHCP. I would've liked to seen "Give It Away" which definitley compliments each instrument.
But I think Nirvana's "In Bloom" is a good song. The drum part is pretty awesome, and the bass and guitar are pretty good.
P.S- You can also Download the whole "Nevermind" album and some Metallica off their new stuff. So that solves that problem.

I want. Badly.
Too bad it's gonna be so expensive, though. And for next-gen consoles, which i dont have.
Xbox 360- US$169.99
PlayStation 3 - US$169.99
PlayStation 2 - US$159.99

If you bought a PS3... I think you can afford this game. :ahe:
Same goes for the 360, but not as much.

The GH controllers work for this game so I might pick it up if some of my friends get it.

Only the Guitar Hero III controllers though.. not like 1 or 2. And it has to be the same console.
I'll probably get this game after I buy GHIII since right now I only rented it and I know that as soon as I return it ill feel an emptyness in my heart. Ill only buy the drums probably but like I said it'll be a while before I get it.

:aaa: NO! Please tell me your joking I have a GHII 360 guitar and was so happy that I wouldn't have to buy another for this game. :wail: I guess it will be a long while before I get this.
You know, maybe the GH2 Controllers for the 360 MIGHT work. But I haven't heard anything on it.

GH2 controllers will work for the game, stop crying already
Yeah, I'm thinking about this game quite a bit. Already got a GH2 controller, so I'd only have to pick up the drums and such.
I figure, if I can buy just the game, I might.
Sarge51
11-03-2007, 4:56 PM
Yeah, I don't know where people get their facts from...
The GH3 controller WILL NOT WORK for Rock Band. They've made this, (Well sorta) clear.
But the GH2 Controllers will work for Rock Band if It's on the same console. (and possible if you know how to make one controller on one system work on the other.)
Also, you can only buy the instrumental bundels right now. You can't buy individual instruments yet. So all of those who are like "I ONLY NEED TO BUY DRUMS".. you can't do that without getting the other guitar and microphone.
Sarge, I think GH3 works on Rock Band, right? My friend, who has a PS3 and GH3, says he can use his guitar when Rock Band comes out.

Most sites from what I've heard have reported the Wireless GH3 Guitar will not work on Rockband. It originally was rumored somewhere, and everyone said, don't believe them. But a few more sites have started to confirm this. But they may make it compatible at the last minute.
Also, from what I've heard. The wireless Rock Band guitar controllers will be sold next year. (The ones that come with it are Wired, I think.)
I wish I could just buy the drums and the mic... Oh well. Has anyone seen the drums?! They are HUGE!

I think I'm actually going to wait for my real life friends to buy this. I have shitty internet, and I don't have people over at my house often enough to warrant buying a 4-person party game.. At least, with my money. If a friend of mine does buy it though, I'll be all over that bass part. I like how they included it that bass can get a 6x multiplier, because it can be boring sometimes.
Me and some local friends are gonna create an in-game band. We already chose the best people to play each instrument, so then we can rule the online world of Rock Band (with me on Drums, respectivley).
But when I and others here actually get it, we could try making an online Explosm band for fun.

Im pretty psyched for this, but I'm waiting until they eventually sell instruments by themselves (namely the drums). And then I can just get a copy of the game. I don't have many people coming over really, and I don't have Live.
Anybody know when its estimated that they'll start selling the instrument peripherals by themselves?
Shagg
11-03-2007, 11:09 PM
They'll start selling individual instruments in early 2008. So like, January to March-ish.

If I had a choice, I'd just by the drums and use whatever guitar I have that will work. (I got like 8.) Then go online against 10 year olds who can't sing.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. My friend yesterday confirmed he is going to buy it when it's released. The only problem is, they pushed back the release by a week!!! It comes out the 27th now :wail:.
Petea, are you sure? Everything still says it's coming out Nov. 20..?
As soon as that girl started singing... Jesus. I had to close it, but, yeah, I've heard of Rock Band. Basically Guitar Hero only with Drums, bass and a singer. Should be interesting to see how it plays, but, other than that it's not that innovative.

Just this morning as my friend was carpooling with me he said it's back to the 20th. Apparently on microsoft's site and some other source they had their dates changed but it is still coming out before thanksgiving.
Also, that same friend and I went to Best Buy today to see if CoD4 was in and they had a small Rock Band setup. The yellow pad on the drums didn't work but man is it fun!!! It sucks I won't be able to get it until the individual bundles come out next year.
Petea, do you live in the US? Cause if so, I'm gonna totally check out if there are any Rock Band set-ups in my area.

Yeah I'm in California. A few days ago I saw a thread in another forum about someone who played it in San Francisco, and sure enough a few days later the Best Buy where I am (just north of SF) had it. The new guitar takes a little getting used to (especially the strum bar) but it is loads of fun. They had a guitar, drum (no pedal) and a microphone that wasn't hooked up haha.

There was one at Walmart where I live. But it was turned off. and on my way out, it was on. I was so mad... Weird, it was actually in the outdoors section.
Try Malmarts and Best Buys.
I just went to Best Buy and there was the full set there, and it all worked.
Holy shit... funnest game alive. I was playing the drum pads because they were new, and I completely owned it. Some people gathered around to watch me drum. I definitely suggest buying this game.

ARGH! I'm now torn between GHIII and Rock Band after looking at the set list. I played GHIII the other day, while being really good, I dunno which I'd like better.
I'll have to decide before christmas.
Audio, Rockband for the win. Sure GHIII is a good game, but Rock Band definitley introduces much more new stuff than GHIII, since really GH3 is just GH2 but with new songs and graphics. Of course it costs a pretty penny.

I played again at a different best buy that had the microphone working and all of the drums working. I was with a couple of friends and we played for a while. I love playing the drums and was playing on hard. I wonder how much worse I will do when the base pedal is involved though.
The only bad thing that I know is gonna happen, is that some people who will play drums on Expert will think they are actually pro-drummers. Then the drum community is gonna be smuthered with wanna-be's.
Now I kinda know how good guitarists felt when Guitar Hero came out. :wail:

edit: The only thing is that the amount of drummers in the world will skyrocket.

I was actually wondering how people would argue about the drum kit being non-realistic. I find it being MORE realistic than the Guitar Controller Vs Real Guitar argument.

The Guitar hero controller isn't really like guitar at all apart from VERY basic similarities. The Rock band drums however look like they are a lot closer to their real life conterparts, only with just 4 pads and 1 pedal..
The drum-pads are very similar, but at the same time completley different. Yeah, you're doing the same motions... but alot of the song is even changed on expert mode, because they either couldn't add a specific part or it would be too fast for people who don't actually play drums.
But either way, I won't mind people who are like "Yeah, I can play some drums." But I will mind people who will be like "Yeah, Sup. I can play Drums on Expert, WAZZUP!?"

You sound like such a douche in this thread. I can guarantee you that no one thinks that playing a video game translates into actual drumming.
It is just like all the electronic drum sets I have seen, and it uses real sticks, so there is no doubt in my mind this will be incredibly useful for beginner drummers, you make it out like drumming is for an elite sect of the population. It is just one of many instruments.
SOAD, I don't know you personally... but if you were a drummer too, I don't think you would want something that you worked for instantly become a game that will make people think they're the shit.
It's hard to explain, but I think some of you might get it.

I played Rock Band today at Walmart! (and shortly before I was showing my skills off at the Sam's Club.) But I LOVE this game! Aside from the controller being broken, slightly long load times and a little bugginess when the crowd is shown. It's awesome! Drums are definitely hard! But I got the hang of it pretty quickly! The Guitars strum-bar was messed up, every time I strummed It would do it multiple times. So I just alternate strummed and did okay. (Pressing the D-Pad up and down can strum.) I love the new things they added in! Solo recognition and custom ending bonuses. This game rocks!

Hm...I don't know about this game. I'm all for guitar hero, its awesome, but to me this game just seems a little to much (maybe its just the people in the videos.) Something about it just seems kinda stupid. Again it might be how those people are acting...
Sarge51
11-08-2007, 6:06 PM
The actual things that are going on in the background, the stage, looks kind of dumb. They are jumping around like Characters from The Sims. That's just what I think of when I play. But it's so cool when the audience sings to the lyrics. It gives a bigger feeling that you're playing on stage.

I know a lot of people who think they can play guitar beacause they can play guitar hero.
With the drums seeming some-what close to the real thing, more people will think they can drum. it'll be a slight nuisance, but no more than rich wrist-cutters.

Guitar vs Guitar Controller = No Dice. A real guitar is too hard and so much to learn. So playing Guitar Hero won't help you play a real guitar. It may help you move your fingers around a lot better though.
But.
Drum Controller?? vs Real Drums = Way more realistic. Someone who plays the real drums will love it. and someone who wants to play real drums. Then this is a good practice to get hand eye coordination in gear for a real one.

Harmonix made an ipod game where you can choose any song out of your music, along with some that come with the game. (haha an ipod game)
I went back to Best Buy, and I must say I'm the bomb at the drum-pads. The lowest score I got was 92% on Expert. And that was on Black Hole Sun, which is a confusing song at the beggining.
But of course, there was no bass drum.. so I'll wait to see how good I actually am then.

Ever since I played Rock Band at Walmart last week, It's been blowing my mind. The guitar controller is so different and the drums are easy!! (Well, until later finding out that the pedal is tough as shit.)
Anyway. The guys at Rockband.com decided to go on 'tour' right? Well it happens that they stopped by to let people try out all the features of the game at my not so local Best Buy. I wasn't too woohoo about it, but we went anyway, and I got addicted. All I did was play the drums with the pedal and a working Guitar controller. I didn't want to sing. So. That was out. But I played at the Van against my dad on the drums, then played drums and guitar in a truck. Then go on a stage to play with my dad and two random Rock Band people. They were playing on Medium and Easy, I rocked out to the Guitar on HARD. We did nicely. I also got a hat. Which rocks.
I can't wait for this game!!!
Wanted Dead or Alive.
Detroit Rock City.
EPIC.
Paranoid.
Those are about the only songs I like to play on the Demo.

Well, the only real benefit was there was other people there. and you had an extra guitar controller the microphone and pedals added to the drums, and there was like 5 games running all at once. Other than that, it was the same as in the store.
It was fun listening to people try to sing. They sounded drunk. We were lucky, there wasn't but 2 other groups of people there playing. So we could just stay at one station and keep playing. Unless we switched to the stage which one 360 was connected to all instruments and 4 Tvs. or the Van which had one big ass speaker which blew the hell out of your ears.

Me and some friends are gonna try and make a Power-Trio band when it comes out. Like everyone plays an instrument, but one person sings the vocals too. It's gonna be hard as shit, but I think I can pull off doing two-things at once. But I suck at singing.

I'm hoping my best mate gets it, because I know he'd be able to do drums or vocals, maybe even guitar, and we could drag people in for the other instruments.
I'd hopefully be able to do bass, or if we have no one else who is any good, I'll do guitar. I kick ass at GH, but I much preferred 2 player, me doing the bass. Mainly because I suck ass at chords.
I think "Tom Sawyer" by Rush makes up for every boring bass song in the game.

Fact is, majority of the songs are gunna have shitty bass that either gets an easier version of what the guitar is doing, or plodding along root notes. Which is gunna suck. Hopefully the fact that I'll be playing on highest difficulty will counteract that.

Oh, and we're going to try to dodge the over 20 dollars of Shipping and Handling and go to Walmart at Midnight and try to get it, if not, we'll try Best Buy when they open at 11am.
I found out the other day that my moms boyfriend worked on rockband a lllloooonnnnggg time ago. He is the best Guitarist in New Hampshire. I imagine they will credit him, his name is John Paul. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=120671728

I can not wait for this game. It looks completely sick. There's just a few things I'm a bit worried about.
There is a shorter list of songs on this than both GHII and GHIII, but I'm pretty sure they have about 20 songs for download in the first week or so of the game's release, plus other other downloads throughout the rest of the year.
The next thing is the difficulty level, which I hear that the Rock Band Expert is only as hard as the GHII hard mode. It isn't a bad thing for the average player, but it would probably disappoint many extreme players who feel that playing GHII expert is both rewarding and challenging.
I can't wait for the guitar and drum parts, but I don't get why people are getting so pyched over the bass. I mean, wasn't there an option to play the Bass part in GHII?
Sarge51
11-18-2007, 7:11 AM
Yes, there was. But apparently, they didn't care back then. There's suppose to be two or three good songs that have awesome bass guitar in it, so I guess that's why they are stoked.
The difficulty to me, is okay. I like how they toned it down, but for some songs it seems a little dead. But other fast songs seem okay.
Theres supposedly two albums and 3 songs on the first week. Then a 3 Song Pack every week. I hope they keep adding some nice songs. A lot of the downloadable songs look like crap actually. But theres a few I wouldn't mind.

If I get it on Monday Night or Tuesday Morning (three chances to grab it), I will have to wait to plug it up in the living room instead of my room, because my room is too small for the drums and all that stuff. So I'll hook up that HDMI up into my huge TV, recalibrate the lag, (It has issues on the PS2 with the lag, but my TV in my room is smaller and is a HD/LCD TV and works fine.) and rock out.

I can't wait for the guitar and drum parts, but I don't get why people are getting so pyched over the bass. I mean, wasn't there an option to play the Bass part in GHII?
In GHII in Multiplayer one player got lead guitar, and the other got either rhythm guitar or bass, depending on the song. If the song had a good bassline, it was bass. Anything else was rhythm guitar.
And I suppose and bass players playing this game will get a feeling of authenticity with being able to play bass in the game.
I talked to my mate the other day, who will be getting Rock Band as soon as it's released here, and he's the best Guitar Hero player I know, he is freakin' nuts. And he wants to play the drums for Rock Band. :\ Which means I'll be on guitar, most probably. Because other than him, I'm the best at soloing, although one of our other mates is good at chords.

I get off work at midnight tonight, and my roomate gets off at 6 tomorrow morning. So I'll probably have it tomorrow when Gamestop opens up. Rearranged my living room and everything so theres plenty of room for 4 of us to play.
I tell ya though, even though 3's and 7's is on GH3, I'm still amazingly psyched for the QOTSA download pack.
Anyone who wants to band up with me, Oberlin27 on XBL, I'll probably have my roomate with me most times I'm online

If you want an Online Band, I am all up for it. I'll need an Online budd to play with seeing as how I know no one that is into this game, except for people who suck.
I'm got 1 chance a midnight and two chances in the morning. So I think I am set.
Rock Band has officially come out today. I played it at my friends who pre-ordered it.. and Wow! It's 10x funner than the demo. Although I don't prefer singing, it's still pretty fun to sing along to raspy-voiced Kurt Kobain on "In Bloom".
The drums are more difficult with the bass drum added in, and it feels kinda weird at first. But I got used to it after 2-3 songs.
My only complaints are that you don't get another guitar to play bass, and the Whammy-bar appears not to work at all. Also the guitar string-button is really tight at the start, so we put oil/lube on it to loosen it up.

Just got home from playing it at a friend's who ordered online. We had no problems at all with the guitar's fret button or whammy bar. I must say though, the drums kick my ass. I was doing well without the bass pedal, as soon as that was added in I was screwed. So right now I am only getting in the 90s on easy, have yet to pass a song on medium (though I've only tried maybe twice).

This game is insane.
Anyone who has 360 NEEDS to download the QOTSA and Metallica DLC, the 4 QOTSA songs are in my top 10 favorites to play on guitar, along with Welcome Home, And Justice For All, Ballroom Blitz, and Black Hole Sun. Basically every song is good, even the ones that you'd think would suck.
On the downside, I'm a little disappointed in the guitar difficulty, expert songs are either rally easy or really ridiculous. I'll put it this way- I played through Career on guitar, and didn't 4-star a single songon sightread. All gold, 5, or 3. I can't quite get the drums down good yet, but my roomate is getting pretty good, gettin over 90% on everything on medium. I'm at the point where I can play songs like Go With the Flow and In Bloom on guitar and vocals.
Definitely a fun time, Mass Effect can wait a while.

Game looks sooooo sweet, can't wait till my friend gets it. He only lives like 3 blocks away so it will be fun for sure.
I tried playing "Tom Sawyer" on Expert for the drums. I got a 90% on the demo in Best Buy (no bass drum), but DAMN! I had to be saved by my other band-mates to just keep going when there was actually a bass-drum. It's one bitch of a song.
Also, the Outlaws song "Green Grass and High Tides" goes on FOREVER. No exaggeration, it's like 20 minutes long.
But I must say, I really love the Guitar-Effects you can have during solo's. When I played "Train Kept A-Rollin" by Aerosmith, solo's are like every other second, and using the Wah-Wah and Echo effects is very satisfying.

Here's a heads up for everyone-
Co-op tour, where you go to get the jet, be prepared for a fucking slobberknocker. Imagine Freebird and One had a kid, that's The Outlaws. Its like 10% intro, 75% solo, and I damn near failed in the last 5% when my drummer failed out right after I used my Overdrive, I recovered him probably about 5 or 6 beats before failing the song.
To give you an idea of the length, I got a 94%, he got an 89%, and we got over 550,000 points.
To boot, I was playing on Hard. Not Expert. Hard.

I love this game with every inch of my being. I just finished off the Guitar Career on Hard, and got 90 Gamer Points for that. Fun. Sadly, theres only about 10 songs I like to play on it. I can't wait for some good DLC. Only thing on there now thats any good is a QOTSA song. Who cares about the new Metallica songs. My dad is working the Guitar on Medium, and I am trying to work on the Drums, but it doesn't sense my pads 1/6th of the time... I am getting better at the pedal though.
Tomorrow I might try to make a Band on the tour, even though I have no one to play with and the online play isn't out yet. Anyone know how this would work? It's harder to have a leader online. Online BWT should have two leaders to insure you could play more.
and Oberlin, do you mean Green Grass and High Tides? Cause that's the longest and possibly only difficult song on the game.
This game looks so great. My only complaint is the song list and minor controller issues. (Drums.) The Calibration system is top notch. I've alway shad issues with the PS2 on that TV but this game fixed it right up no problem.
Sarge, I think there are alot of good songs on Rock Band besides QOTSA. It just depends on what you're looking for. And I don't think they tried to make this game SUPER hard for any instrument, I think they made the game so that every part is equally good and that you have fun in a fake-band.
But I can't wait until you can download all the songs/albums. I mean cmon.. the whole Nevermind album? What gets better than that.

Green Grass and High Tides isn't as hard as Free Bird, but it can still wear you down and hold you at one part of the song.
Getting better at the drums and my dad is getting to wear he won't fail songs with the mic anymore.
It seems that if you do Multiplayer Quickplay the overdrive doesn't give you double multiplier.
Yeah, Green Grass and High Tides is a bitch to play because of its length. On drums, your arms start getting tired after like 10 minutes, when there's still like another 10 left.
On a different note, I tried playing drums (on Hard) AND singing (on Medium) "In Bloom" at the same time. It was really difficult, to my suprise. I tried to memorize the words before going in there so I could focus on the drum part, but I still couldn't tell if I was the right pitch. I completed the song, but just barely.

Anyway, I just got the '100% a song on Expert' achievement for the Guitar. I was actually just messing around and playing on Expert. Somehow I got 100% without noticing until the notice popped up.
My friend downloaded the Queens of the Stone Age-pack; totally worth it. "3's and 7's" alone, is worth 5~7 dollars.
But has anyone noticed how oddly fast "Go With The Flow" is on Expert on the drums? It took me maybe 3 tries to reposition my feet to get that 3-in-a-row bass pedal, and finally complete it. And I thought I was a drummer.. :ahe:

Anyone else have a problem with faulty/low quality equipment? My first problem was Guitar strummer doesn't pick up downward picks and gets stuck, then the foot pedal for the drums broke, it snapped near the arc of the heel, over night with no one playing it. Unless the foot pedal monster gave me a visit last night =[

The strum bar is a known issue, and can be manually fixed or you can just send it back.
As for the foot pedal. Not many, but some have had that problem. Just look at that big pink sheet of paper in your box.
Apple Juice
12-03-2007, 8:38 PM
I guess my problem with sending it back is that i don't want to spend more than 2 hours away from my drum set :christ:
Yeah Apple, I head maybe one or two incidents like that happening. But from what I heard, It should be easily fixable by the makers or even you if you have the time. But I agree they need to support that bass-pedal more than it is.
My friend and I got the game on Sunday and I have to say, its fucking awesome. Especially since we only played 29 dollars for it, brand new(we traded in GH1 and 2- ps2 versions, then GHIII, 360 version -- we don't like it as much --, then we traded in a couple of my ps2 games and he traded in some of his DS games).
I love how the guitar plays, though I will say, with the downloadable songs(I have Heroes by David Bowie and My Sharona, which i dont evne like playing), I did notice when I was getting to the sustains or whatever, they would 'hit' as they should, but then they'd go out, if you catch my drift. Which aggravated me a bit, but I figured it has to be the song or something, because it does'nt do that on the songs part of the game.
The drums are very fun, though I'm not very good at it, but I haven't played them all that much, my friend plays them very well though. Except, he can hardly do hard on them, but whatever.
I do like the solo buttons on the guitar, though, sometimes i get confused when hitting htem because I naturally want to go back up the neck, and plus the buttons are smaller. I find quickly looking down to make sure my fingers are in the right spot, and sometimes i find I have to hit the button a bit 'hard' to make sure they are sensed.
I haven't tried out the microphone myself, but my sister has(she sings better, way better, than my friend and I) and the system for the singing is damn well perfect. Only one complaint, you have to have an xbox controller turned on, which is stupid because it drains your battery and isn't actually used. They should have been able to implement the xbox guide button on the microphone very easily. Oh well though.
I love all the songs on the game too, and they didn't seem rediculously hard or stupid as some had been on Guitar Hero 3. I also love the character creation portion of the game, and I love the overall feeling. I hate to say it, but this game blows Guitar Hero III out of the water. Neversoft is seriously going to have to raise what bar they have left to topple this, because Rock Band feels like a totally new experience. It's all beautifully done, in my opinion.
I'm hoping they decide to released the tools for user generated content for the game. They mentioned that they may consider it, but imagine how awesome it'd be though. Having your band on a video game available for people to download. I mean, I'm sure they'll be a lot of shitty music on there, but there is bound to be decent music too. I would love to find just a drum track, or a guitar track. Nothing but a guitar solo or drum solo. That'd be very awesome.
I give this game a perfect score.

When you get the full game, in the "community" section there are some videos you can watch, basically the making of the game and it talks about the graphics and whatnot. They weren't focusing on the graphics, the gameplay was their main focus. plus, the graphics aren't that bad, they're good enough. and I will say, the guitar buttons are a bit stiff-ish, but its bearable, its due to them actually being inset in the neck and such.

The guitar that comes with Rock Band hurts less than the GHII one. I noticed that after playing it at my friends house for a couple days in a row.
Wow this game is epic. I love it. Every instrument including the microphone is fun to play.
Although I find that I usually play guitar down on the small buttons so I don't miss notes for solo's.
I love it. The drums are fucking confusing at time with the foot peddle. >_<
I wouldn't say the buttons hurt or stick; my only problem is that they're bigger than the Guitar Hero's, so they are a little more spaced then I was used to in GH.

Umm.. Why do you care about the graphics? :indiff: You're supposed to be looking at your note track, not the background.
I will be getting this game very soon (Christmas), and I had a quick question. Are the strum bar issues with the Guitars fixed yet? I want to know if buying the bundle now will still net me a shitty guitar that I have to send back in (Because I don't want to). I can't wait to try vocals, honestly.
It's not that they're bad or anything, to me anyway. Maybe I have a faulty one, I'm not sure. I do know the strum bar is rather sensitive at certain points and it seems to register as if I hit it twice or something, which breaks my combo quite often. I haven't gotten a perfect score on a song yet, mainly due to that. But I'm generally always in the 90 %'s though.
Not really sure.
EDIT: I just went to the Rock Band forums and people posted problems with their guitars which are the ones I have. So, I guess I have a faulty strummer. My strum basically is registering notes twice. Good thing I kept my receipt. And good thing I still have my x-plorer to play with.

Nah what I'm talking about is the faulty strum bars that came with the original bundles. They break after a little use and don't register the down-strum, only the up-strum. I would assume by now they've started bundling working guitars, but I haven't heard anything about it so I don't know. :ahe:

I am surprised the 360 Guitar Hero 3 Controller supported that "100% a Song on Expert with the Bass Guitar, Up Strums Only." acheivement. I was worried the Rock Band guitar would be the only one to sense that.
Some guitars don't have any problems. Same with the Drums. Just like the GH detachable neck issue.
Update: I nkow for a fact the strum bar on my Fender is messed up, because I tried playing with the X-plorer, and I didn't have one problem. So, sadly, it is in fact the strum bar. But no worries, I already in the replacement process.
One thing gay about playing with the x-plorer is when you have a song that has the "big rock ending", you can't really do it on the x-plorer.

YES. Holy shit, this has to be the most annoying thing about Rock Band. At first I shake it up to try to get star power, then I starting shaking it like a madman just to try, and I end up missing notes because of it. Then about a minute later after I put the guitar in a normal position it shoots to star power.

I got it yesterday finally, and I love it. Only thing I don't like is I've played Should I Stay Or Should I Go about seven times involuntarily and Maps about five times. It may be that I need to unlock more songs, but I've nearly memorized the guitar track of Maps.
That sounds about right. Me, my best friend and his brother played Band World Tour last night for.. Shit, like 5 hours. We played Say It Ain't So about 8 times. :indiff: My friend was playing drums on medium and he would get an average of like 85%, but he was getting 97%-98% on Say It Ain't So. I must say, vocals are a lot more fun, and a lot more HARD than I thought they would be.

Vocals are fun, I'm trying to learn to do Guitar and it at the same time.
I've played "Wanted Dead or Alive" so much now, my band's gotten 5 stars halfway through the song... on hard.
Our band, Wicked Sticky, got pretty far. We have a jet and stuff. But my bassist and guitarist can only barely do Hard on some songs. And I sometimes find myself struggling on the drums on Expert when the song requires a whole shit-load of bass pedals. So when BandWorldTour is ever released, I totally need to hook up with new members. Explosm band anyone? :hmm:

So they are going to offer support for online bands in the future? Thank fucking god. Me and HappinessMan figured out today that you can't form an online band, and I was PISSED. That's almost the ENTIRE reason I bought the game. :ahe:

Technically you can, but it's only quick play mode.
I somewhat like it better because even band tour mode gets boring after a while, especially after playing the same song over and over again. With online quick play you can just get 3-4 people together in about 3 minutes and choose whatever song you like.

Wanted Dead or Alive has to be one of my favorite songs on all instruments. I 100%ed it once on Hard (With guitar), and getting closer on Expert. I love that song.
And Online BWT is the only reason I bought the game too. I hardly never use the Vocals and maybe on occasion the Drums. But I want to play online with some people I like instead of a bunch of random people with no mics and bad song choices.
Well, eventually they're gonna HAVE to release BWT-online, because they said that they would and stuff. Although it's not the main point of why I bought it, it would still make the game way more fun.

Yes, they plan on making BWT online in the future. Give it a few months and they'll probably have it up and running.
I must say, online play is definately the highlight. There's nothing more fun than picking a victim to sing and then making them sing the most ridiculous songs. You haven't lived until you've heard a teenage boy sing I'm So Sick and Ballroom Blitz.
I rented it the other day. It didn't come with the drums, guitar or mic but my guitar hero 3 guitar worked for it and so does the 360 head set mic so I got to try those out. I was pretty sure that I wanted to get it before hand but now having played it and while doing so listening to the drums and not being able to try them as solidified my choice. I'm better at the vocals then I thought I would be for some songs and completely shit for others.

Have any of you tried the Timmy song on vocals? Is it fun?

It's ridiculous.
The song consists of singing "Leaders of the Underworld" and then just shouting random shit like TIMMY! And then just random noises (since Timmy can't talk) like Urghghg and shit.
Basically its one of those songs where everyone within hearing distance will start laughing their asses off because you sound like a retard.

Yep. I'm horrible at the talky parts because no matter how many times I say the EXACT words that scroll through the screen, I'll miss it somehow. Also, they throw in the singing parts right after you've finished yelling like a retard and it's hard. :(

I think it depends on who you play with then. My brother still makes fun of me for my yelling TIMMY!
And my Xbox Live friends I play with keep telling me it was the best rendition of any song I did. The assholes.
You'll pretty much either love it or hate it. I think you'll like it more if you go all out and actually shout and have fun with it. Because there's really no way you can take the song seriously when you're singing the line "and when girls start to sleep with girls" right before saying random shit.

How do you make them hear you while you sing? :ahe: Do you just hold the trigger on the controller through the whole song? If so, fuck that. I did it once with some tricky business involving my mic AND my headset, but it was too much of a pain. Also why haven't we played yet? I have you on my friend's list :fmita:

Yeah. I just hold down the trigger the whole time. It's not too bad. I just hold the mic in one hand and the controller with the other. Most people don't really do it though. Which is actually kinda lame. Then again, not everyone wants strangers to hear them attempt to sing Mississipi Queen.
I have no idea why we haven't played Tempest. We must do so sometime in the near future. I'll shout TIMMY for you. What's your main instrument on it?

I got this game.
I'm glad I did.
It's very fun. I can play Expert guitar/bass, I play on Hard/Expert on drums, and I've only tried vocals once. Not very good at it.
By the way, you know the All-American Rejects pack? I got that, and I searched by genre, and found them in the emo section. I thought they were pop-rock...

I wouldn't really care about people hearing me sing, except on something like I'm So Sick.. Highway Star too. I do vocals quite a bit now, mostly on medium, though I can do some songs on hard and others on expert. Bass is my main instrument, with guitar in a close second.

I'm So Sick sucks. The only reason you pick that song is to torture the singer so you have something to laugh at. Which my friends do often. We really seem to like to pick the most ridiculous songs for each other. I'll pick girl songs for the guys, they'll make me sing Metallica and Iron Maiden. I've only done Highway Star once and it was hilariously bad. Shouting "I SEED IT!" often has that effect.
Oddly enough I've become the designated singer. One because no one else wants to do it, two because they deemed me the best singer, and 3 they told me I suck at guitar.
I have such loving friends.
We'll definately have to play some time. Next time we're both on let's try it.

Another complaint I have, when doing Online Band Quickplay, it takes like 5 minutes to find random people to play with. It just keeps searching and searching. Anyone else have this problem?

Maybe you just have one of those weird internet connections that makes it hard to connect to other peers? I know recently it's been happening to me, but it may just be because of the Xbox Live going in and out randomly. Sometimes in Rock Band it really does take awhile to find a band to play with, and when you do you always get a Two Guitars and a Drummer but since not too many use the Vocals they just go on without them, and I'd rather have all 4 people playing, even if you're not right beside them, it still makes the game more fun, issuing challenges of saving your Vocalist and Drummer.

I've been playing quite a bit, though my guitar is starting to break. :/ It only registers, on a good day, 2/3 of the downstrums I make, so playing expert is virtually impossible for me because I never upstrum. I managed to finish expert guitar solo tour before that though (77% on Green Grass and High Tides, but I still got it. :D), and I've finished medium vocals tour so far. I'm definitely getting better at singing. Still stuck on easy for drums.

If you're worried about the price, you could always just buy the game then the drums and if you've played Guitar Hero 2 or 3 you can use those controllers. I think any USB Microphone will work too.

I am not too sure. If not yet, by mid-February they'll be selling them.
Gamestop says: Pre-Release Ships 03/04/08
Hm, last I heard it was January to February...
