So the winter is on it's way, we had our first snow today. I'd like to ask what do you guys think of winter, is it bad or is it good?
Personally, what I like about winter is snow, especially when it's white and fresh. What I dislike is cold weather, poor visibility and slippery roads. I also don't like winter sports like skiing or skating, because it hurts my feet. Last year we didn't have any snow all, except 1 week sometime after Christmas, and it was pretty nice. I liked winter without the ice and cold more.
So what are yours pros and cons of winter?

Snow is like my black gold. As a ski instructor, I just want it to snow constantly.

I love it when it snows. As long as I don't cold, I can stay out for hours. And I was a mad snowboarder.. until I broke my arm last year. Haven't been back on the slopes yet.

I love winter, and the snow, but unfortunately it has not snowed where I live in GA for 3 years now. And where I sometimes go in the mountains in GA a half an inch of snow is the most we get. I really love going to New York in the winter, I used to go a lot, but I haven't been in 2 years (and it didn't snow that year).

I love snow. Ive only seen snow like 2 times in my life. One before I can remember, ive just seen pictures. And one a couple years back when i went to New York (state, not city).

It sucks that it doesn't snow here in Puerto Rico... damn tropical weather. All we have are beaches here.

Well lets see, I don't like winter because my room gets fucking cold then. In the summer I have to have two blankets over me to stay warm. And I'm the kind of guy that stay outside in a cold/windy day, without a jacket, short sleeve t-shirt, and not know its cold. So ya. In short. No snow/winter please.

I love the cold. I'm never truly comfortable if the temperature is above 40 degrees Fahrenheit, assuming I'm wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

Now snow, that I can do without. Too wet for me... but if its the price of cold, I'm only too glad to pay it.

Doesn't snow down here. But if anything, California would get a 3 hour blizzard that would shut down the state if it did. We like all of our weather compacted into the smallest package off horrible ball of horribleness.

I am going to Poland over winter break, and they get lotsa snow. Whoo.

Snow is great. Here in Chicago we get a shitload of it and it makes for great snowball fights everyday. I like all snow, slushy black, fresh white, or hard and icy.

I don't like the cold so much as the snow. I don't really like it here because it'll get down to the 20s, and the wind'l pick up and more or less you'll have to waddle into school completely covered with clothing. I'm more of a summer kind of guy, though.

Unlike the rest of Canada, we have pretty mild winters in Vancouver. It snows about twice each winter, and when it does we make the most of it. The rest of the time it rains. I don't mind the rain, but when it's just barely above zero it's like we're getting taunted by the prospect of snow. We do get a fair bit in the mountains, but I don't ski much. It rarely gets icy though, so that's a plus.

The cold isn't so bad since it never gets anywhere near as dry as the rest of Canada. I'm in shorts and a T-shirt right now.

Also, cold = cuddling. (Ever wonder why most babies are born in July, August, and September (http://pressroom.hallmark.com/birthday_trends_stats.html)?)

Winter means ice skating, skiing, etc. I love it. It would be absolutely perfect if it weren't for the cold. The only thing good that comes out of it is snow, which isn't really that great when you use public transit and the floors are covered with dirty slush.

Coming from the northeastern Ohio area, we get a lot of lake effect snow. The fact that I'm now living in Cleveland less than 2 miles from the lake sucks.

Fuck winter.

Global warming: hurry the hell up.

The responses here seem to be:

1. I don't get snow, but I love it.

or

2. I get snow, and I hate it.

A cold winter with snow is better than a cold winter without snow. I really hate shoveling, but oh well.

I like snow in small quantities. I mean if it snows for two days and I'm fuckin' around with my friends on one of those days, then it's good. But if it's 20 degrees for a week and the snow just won't stop coming I hate it.

I like summer/spring/fall a lot better, but if it's gonna be cold it shoulld snow.

Hats of!

I love the winter, I love when the polarbears walk down the streets of Stockholm and we all live in our small Igloos here in Sweden.

Well, that was irony, but I still love winter, Christmas!

I love Winter. I love how nice it is to get home from a cold day and have a cup of steaming hot tea, and how everyone's messing around in class because of the excitement of Christmas. It's my favourite Season.

Even though I would rather be hot than cold, I think winter is ok. I like when it snows because I go outside for awhile, and then I come back in, put some comfortable clothes on, and have hot chocolate. That is the BEST. Also, wrestling season is during the winter, which I always look forward to, even though it's the hardest sport in my high school. Also, the obvious: Christmas. I love to get in the holiday spirit, party with my family, and get presents, of course. However, during the winter I always get bronchitis or pneumonia at least once, so that sucks. Also, short winter nights suck. It starts to get dark at about 5 PM, which isn't very good. So winter is an OK season, in my opinion.

I don't think I would mind winter too much if it didnt last for 6 fucking months out of the year, or so it seems. I'm buckling down for a painful one this year, as I am recently discovering my bedroom in the new apartment is freezing. I do enjoy some snow. I like when it's really dark outside and late at night and it starts snowing. The whole world seems so quiet. I think it's humbling.

I love snow. Where my house is, it's surrounded by really tall trees, so our whole yard is filled with drifts. Really good years I can walk over the top of our path to the door and look down at people. It doesn't get very cold, -10 degrees Celsius would be the coldest most days, which isn't that cold. Theres maybe one downside, shoveling snow, but if we get snow, we get snow days all the time.

As a snowmobiler, I love it. As a kid waiting for the bus to show up, I hate it.

As long as I don't get too cold, I'm ok.

I live in CO, which has ALOT of snow from October to Late April. I LOVE snow, whereas plenty of people hate it up here. I'm usually my happiest in December, I love Christmas time.

I hate snow because we have that like 4-5 moths in a row or something and its fucking cold here in winter.
Edit- That means I fucking hate cold weather, more of a smmer type of guy. I fucking fell like 2 days go already because of the freaking ice. It snowed here like 2 or 3 weeks ago for the first time and after that I want for summer to come already.

I love the snow, it's beautiful, but I dislike being out in the cold. There isn't a lot of snow where I come from in New Mexico, but maybe I'll get some here in Japan. Here's hoping!

I love in the Southern most part of Canada and we don't get as much snow as I would like. I love it, but at the same time, hate it. Shoveling snow, defrosting the car in the morning etc... but I get used to it. I love snow because it just makes Christmas that much better, snow on Christmas Eve/Day is awesome!

Snow also = Snow Days :)

We actually had a preview of winter today in my area. The snow didn't really stick that long, though, because it rained right after it snowed. There was a lot of snow coming down though.

Last night, it was snowing a lot for the very first time, here in Ontario, and I am mad that it had to snow last night because now I have to go out and my parents don't want to give me a ride so I am going to be covered in snow by the time I reach the place that I have to go.

Living in Alaska, I pretty much have to love it. Even if I didn't, though, I'd still love it. The only problems I have with winter is when the wind picks up. I can handle the -50 degree temperature up here, but not with wind added into the fact.

I hate the snow and being in New Hampshire, we tend to get our share of it. We had our first real snow yesterday and we didn't have school which was cool, but overall it sucked. Really though, it is not the snow that I hate, but the cold. I am 5'2" and literally weigh 100lbs at most, I am like a god damn chihuahua in the cold. Sad thing is, I am going to try to go to college in Finland for a year, maybe more.:indiff:

Well, I believe there were some years where it didn't snow. Also some times when it snows, it melts right away after touching the floor. That pretty much sucks.

So, no. Holland is a small country, and it lies next to the sea, as a result to it being small and being so close to the sea, the snow doesn't stay long. Because of the temperature the water still has after a long summer. (Which get's very hot and the air is so moist) I think that's pretty much why the snow doesn't stay, I might be wrong, if so it just proves I didn't pay too much attention in school.

I love winter - snow is fun, and there are no fucking bugs.

In the past week alone, we've had three snow days (where school buses are cancelled). It has snowed here for 4 days in a row, with one of those days actually consisting of ice pellets and freezing rain. The streets are like skating rinks. Our lawn must have almost three feet of snow on it.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's forecast. :salute: Here's Michelle with the traffic report.

I love snow but here in the south east of Ireland all we get is cold rain and wind for most of the winter , usually it doesn't go below 5 degrees celcius so instead of sitting around at home on Christmas day , I get to go swimming at the beach.
