I saw the end of the commercial during the pats game yesterday. Just hearing the title of the game made me orgasm. I've always wondered how COD would play out modernized, too bad my computer sucks and wouldn't be able to run it.

I played during the multiplayer Beta. I'm going to get it later today.

The visuals and attention to detail is like no other FPS right now. The multiplayer is where the game really shines, the gameplay is great.

If it were a realism mode, I'd hope they'd make it so like, if you get shot in the leg, you fall down, or in the chest a few times('cause you've got body armour, don't you?)you're dead, or head, dead, arms, drop your gun, have to switch to your pistol etc. That'd just scream pwnage, I think.

It's hardcore mode/difficultly and the bullets hurt a lot more. I'm not sure about 1 shot deal.

I picked it up after class today, went home and beat the single player in one 5 hour sitting. It is VERY fun, some of the most fun I have had with a shooter. I played a bit of multiplayer and wow I really really like this game. If you are into FPS at all I highly recommend it.

My one sitting lasted 7 hours...

edit: There is a mode where it takes one shot in the head, I think two to the chest.

People complain about how scripted it is, and how it's like a rollercoaster ride. Frankly, It helps with the immersion of everything in my opinion, if it wasn't you would probly lose a lot of the great combat sequences because you're busy going down a useless ally.

As stated by Killer, I have it for the 360. This game is amazing, I suggest if anyone is borderline on getting it, you should check it out (at least give it a rent because you can easily get through the campaign in an afternoon).
I'm about to hit a dilemma though, as I am about to cap at 55 and don't know if I can handle starting over again. (I know I don't have to start over if I don't want to but still).

I just picked this game up about two hours ago, and I have to say this is the best FPS I've played all year. It's intense as fuck, and mighty pretty too.

This is probably the best singleplayer campaign I have ever experienced so far. Like the reviews stated, you feel immersed in the game and I was just that. It wasn't until I died and a random war quote show up on my screen that I realized I was back in my room again.

The only problem I have with it right now is the multiplayer mode. I just can't play it. I've been emailing Activision about it though. But I've been hearing nothing but good things so far about it.

This game is a must-have.

Amazing single player campaign, with fairly challenging achievements. The veteran campaign is especially challenging, which has been a weakness in recent games. The hard modes aren't really.. hard. This game definitely is, though. The Mile High Club was one of the hardest achievements I've ever had to get.

The multiplayer is something I'll be playing for months to come, it's hella addicting. They really brought in a good package this time with LOADS to work towards, 12 game modes and I think 17 maps. Infinity Ward seems to be outdoing Treyarch in the quality of the CoD games, I'd love to see IW just takeover the position.

Yes. I bought the game today and beat it today on Regular(i think the name of it is that, whatever 'normal/medium' is). It was a bit short, per se, but I knew it wasn't really really long, but I did enjoy how they broke it up and stuff, and also you played from different perspectives. Though, it did make me sad a little bit after nuclear blast and you're Sgt. Jackson and you wake up, the 'copter is crashed, everyone is dead, and you can barely move and you eventually die..

Also, it was a little odd, maybe a teeny bit scary playing the game since its modeled around, well, present time war and whatnot. Seeing the nuclear missles and stuff, then the blast radius hit your 'copter during one cutscene and stuff was a bit intense. It's as if it paints a picture of what its like, ya know? Or the part where you're in the president's shoes and you're being dragged by the two guys, put in teh car, and taken to a place then executed. That was a bit intense, especially when it was over and the screen goes to black. But alas it just a video game and whatnot, but it just makes you think a little bit.

Oh and the multiplayer is awesome too. I love the class system. I also like how while leveling up it has your level bar at hte bottom of your HUD while playing. I also like it shows you from the enemy's perspective of when you were killed last. And you can respawn when ready. Though it is a bit annoying when you're playing against a whole team who have the "last stand" perk.

The online is way better than Halo. The melee system works, you actually have incentive to level (more guns and perks) and better maps which range from urban house to house fighting to relatively large open areas.
There is a huge range of game types which you unlock as you level so the noobs stay out of the types which require some level of skill. The community is better than Halo, with allot less morons and 12 year olds for some reason. my copy of Halo has been gathering dust since this came out and I doubt I'll play it again.
There's nothing like taking someone out with a 3 round burst to the chest after the whole 'empty your mag into the guy to kill him' thing Halo has.

So has anyone else heard? There are 10 level of prestige mode, and there are two perks you unlock if you get to prestige level 10. That is, you have to go 550 levels (55x10). I don't know if I can handle going into prestige mode again after doing it once.

I rented this game yesterday and am halfway through on veteran, I am past the part where the nuke blows up and I can't stop loving it. I played some multi player too and I must say it is awesome, but the only thing that pisses me off if I always die because the other team kept pumping out grenades. It gets annoying.

Well, Cod3 wasn't made by IW, so I wouldn't compare it to that, more like CoD2...but yeah it's awesome....my favourite mutliplayer game so far I think...

This game makes halo look like the pile of shit it is. Seriously. Calling in air strikes only to see "+50" pop up on your screen just makes my heart do backflips, and, the sniping is especially satisfying when the blood splatter just paints the wall behind them.

Gets pretty fuckin' intense when you have a 9v9 domination and everyone's going to one spot. It's like a real life fire fight. Pretty hardcore, too.

Yeah im level 31 as well, hardcore isn't that bad...grab a gun with a great rate of fire and rip through people, i just wish there was a way to filter some of the game modes, other than just gametype :(

I am somewhere around 10 head shots away from blue tiger with my G36C(my favorite weapon). Favorites are .50 Cal, G36C, p90, L60 (sometimes). Right now I am 44 on prestige so I have a blue tiger dragunav now which can be good.

Personally I'm a Sucker for the P90 with a silencer and UAV Jammer. That shit's fun when your entire clan does it. We did it one time and I think we kept them under 300.

That, and the G36C for more open and long range maps.

I think that increased damage is always a plus, unless the gun you are using kills in one hit. With the Dragonuv, it's needed, and with just about any gun that isn't spray and pray, if you want to get them before they get you, it's one of your only options.

I gotta say, I'm addicted to the online play right now. The objectives add a whole new level of fun to the game. I got the 7 kill streak today, and got the helicopter, that thing kicks so much ass. I was 20 and 2 that game, and a bunch of the kills were the helicopter.

A friend of mine bought it and we've been over at his house, me and another buddy. We can't really get on Xbox Live over there because of where his Xbox is, but we've been playing through the campaign mode on Hardened difficulty. He seemed to be having some problems with a couple of the missions, but I found it wasn't really too hard until the point I'm at now.

By far the best mission was Ghillies in the Mist, there's nothing more satisfying than sneaking through an entire level without being detected, then afterwards taking out a large arms dealer AND a helicopter pilot with a .50 cal sniper rifle, while accounting for wind and Coriolis effect. Unfortunately, that mission also marks the beginning of my frustration. Right now, I'm stuck on the mission right after you rappel out of the building, and you're running towards the chopper after the assassination. I'm all the way to the ferris wheel, and I'm trying to survive until the chopper gets there, but I keep getting killed by some random, practically invisible enemies. :mad:

All in all, this game is fucking awesome. I finally managed to get 19.54 seconds on the Cargoship run, that's my high score there.

Seeing how well my review with Assassin's Creed went, I've been meaning to review CoD 4 for ages now, but have been procrastinating for awhile. But, let's get right to it.

Now, I'm sure you all have heard of it by now, it's been out for a month or two and I'm sure all your friends play it. I don't blame them. This game is pure gold; I don't think the CoD crew could have done a game any better. Let's start with the single player game. The single player in this game is fun, like all CoD games. The levels are really fun. I especially like the two levels in which you're 1) in an AC-130 Gunship supporting your comrades and raining death upon whatever moves(save your comrades) and 2) you're a sniper making his way to a point where he assassinates someone. Other than that, it's your average FPS level but of course Activision makes each of them both fun AND unique. I honestly can't think of anything wrong with the storyline. I can't speak for the difficulties because I just played it on normal to get through it, but most of the action in this game will be amazing, awesome, awe-inspiring and any other adjective you can think of, even if you're getting pissed off at the AI. I've heard complaints from my friends that it was too short, but, in my opinion it's more than enough to satisfy your needs. But, let's move onto the multi-player. I'll sum this up in a few sylibles; un-fucking-believable. The multi-player is so immersive that when you're playing domination, a gametype where you fight over points in the level in order to score points to win, and you're all at one spot, it's intense. People are dying and grenades are going off and air strikes are being called in and helicopters are flying over head, it's just amazing. You pretty much have to experience it yourself to know what I'm talking about. Definately need to play multi-player if you buy or rent this game.

Let's move on to the graphics though, seeing as that's running long. The graphics, much like the game play, are top notch. With every headshot, grenade explosion, and body hit, it looks beautiful. Specifically, there's one level where you're searching for someone and there are a bunch of Marines in one spot. A fire-fight starts are when you look at it, it looks so real. It can actually be breath-taking, I suppose, but, I think that's taking it a little too far.

That's pretty much it. When you really think about it, I guess FPS' aren't that deep. But, I give this game a buy. The multiplayer, graphics and campaign make this game unbelievable and a definite need-to-buy.

Yeah man i have to agree with what you have said here. i absolutely loved this game and i did the single player on the 2cnd hardest diffuculty. Really fun and worth buying, only thing is as most FPS it gets boring after a while but a good game if you just feel like playing for 1-2 hours at a time

I'm sorry to bump this, but this game is pure aswesome. I bought it yesterday, and played through the campaign 7 hours in a row. I really don't think it was too short (maybe because it was 1 am untill I was done), and there are some really intense moments. I loved the sniper level.
I haven't played the multiplayer yet, as I was nausious from playing 7 hours, but I played it at a friend and it looks so fucking awesome, I cant wait to play again.

That's the CoD franchise for you, they do a a truly fantastic job of telling epic (I don't mean epic as in the "internet catchphrase" but the literal sense.) stories within their games, I remember how much I actually felt like I was in Normandy while playing Call of Duty 2. The feeling was the same while playing the newest installment.

I played a lot of it though, but I have seen the ending. It was amazing. My all time funnest moments in the game was where you're in Iraq or Afghanistan or something. And the level with that Scottish dude with camoflouge on.

This game is the fps that I've always been waiting for. It may not be completely realistic, but it is fucking awesome; the graphics are probably the best I've seen and I could definatley see seeing some of the moments in a movie(as in the graphics were that realistic).

It's just there so the player can have fun with it there's no point to it, why complain?

I only played the Single Player missions at my dad's, and I can truly say that it's the first FPS that kept me sitting in front of the computer from beginning to end. Don't get me wrong, it is scripted a lot. But it was made in such a great way that you feel completely on the war field. There's such great scenes you come across during the game, scripted or not, it doesn't even matter anymore.

At the very end of the car chase, when the Russian executes Gaz, and Pricey slides you the pistol, it's so damn sad :wail:. No matter how short the campaign, that ending was the best of any game I've played, bar none.

I have some other set-ups but I've learnt to accomodate for more or less every level so I can use my sniper, since that's what I'm best at.

Best time in game was this one Team Death Match round on Bloc, it was great.
It was literally taken straight out of Enemy At The Gates, this Spetznas sniper and I just had this crazy sniping duel all over the map for at least 15 - 20 minutes. I think I got 47 kills and he got 42 or something (I can first he came second), literally 35 or so of my kills were just him and vice versa. Best round ever.
Another time was when I double headshot this two guys and then another, called in a UAV recon found 2 others killed them, and then got Air Strike and Helicopter in succession which led to 20 kills. Done that twice now as well, pretty kickass.

I'm a level 42 (I think). Use my laptop to play, sometimes my RAM skyrockets and I have to quit halfway through a TDM, which sucks!
I love playing Sabotage in Showdown with a Kill Limit of 500 - it's great for getting all your challenges and weapons upgrades.
At the moment, I use the Silenced M4, with RPGx2, Stopping Power and Last Stand.
In the gaming shop on LAN I'm only up to 20 by now, but I rarely get a chance to go into town.
My kdr - I haven't actually checked it out yet, but it's probably about .6/7 - camping snipers and 'nade launchers are my downfall!

Sabotage is amazing for it, especially if the other team agrees to leave the bomb alone until the last few minutes. I've been getting scores of like 60-20/30 almost every map, so it's doing wonders for my kdr too. :hmm:

Because he's only seen when UAV is up. I used to have two classes for this, one had Stopping power on it, thew other UAV Jammer. When the other team had UAVs up a lot, I'd switch to my stealth class while if they didn't I'd stick with stopping power, or, in his case, double tap.

It didn't take that long, the ones that took the most time were the G3 (Because its single shot and weak as fuck) and the MP44 (Because, I mean, Why?)

And yeah, whenever i get a kill with it, I reload, so if they missed the goldenness, they can see it shining in the sun as I wave it around.

And they seem to have chosen the guns most likely to be found made in gold like the AK and the Draganov because they are Middle Eastern weapons, and thats where you'd find some corrupt general with golden guns.

I have to admit that I'm not the best at all. I'm 49 I think and haven't hit prestige yet, but I don't have much time to play. Sometimes I have awesome games, and sometimes I finish at about 4-40. I have different setups for each weapon type so I can get all of the weapon challenges. I got all of the marksman challenges for the LMGs, have 2 more ARs, and 3 more SMGs. I only snipe on Strike, and sometimes Crossfire and Bloc. I'm on PS3, ID spazzy7. Can someone explain the whole prestige mode process on a thread? Or maybe refer me to something else? I'll post again when I can check my stats and setups.

About the UAV jammer, I think it's useless for me. Nobody ever watches that radar and if they do I have two claymores and a pistol to defend me. Apart from that I tend not to stay in the same place all the time.

I haven't really tried R700 without stopping power much, but I believe it doesn't always kill when you shoot once into the torso and there are quite alot of situations where it is either impossible, too hard, or unwisely to aim for the head.

The R700 Doesn't need anything remotly similar to stopping power, its powerful enough, and one of the most accurate snipers. If you can't get a headshot with it, then you don't deserve to use it.

stopping power is just insurance..i use that instead of UAV jammer cos then i learn to re-locate(like a real sniper) instead of staying in one spot and being found out...

I usually go for the non moving targets [duh...]. And usually those are other snipers. Now, if they're not aiming for me I usually take the headshot. If they are aiming for me, I'm not gonna wait for them to shoot me, I'll take any shot I can. I know you could just relocate, but that has two disadvantages, either they expect where you are going too shoot from next and you're just dead as soon as you stick out you're head (usualy if you move only short distance), or when you move a longer distance chances are that target is already dead.

Best kill would be when I got my 23 (give or take) kill streak. Full Groundwar with a 4 bar connection (A rare occurence for Australians on Groundwar) on 'Bog'. My team managed to keep theirs pinned down inside the first spawn area (Building) for the entire match. Score was something like 1000-90.

For all of your who love the G36C, did you know it does the same exact damage as the M4 Carbine? It does really, so your giving up more speed an accuracy using the G36C (and reload time, for that matter). Don't get me wrong, I used to love it too, but after looking at this chart, I've changed my opinion on most setups, and Now, I'm in deeeeeep love with my M4 and ACOG scope...flawless. 36-5 at Overgrown, Team death match... =)))))))

I've started playing a lot with the G3 silenced UAV Jammer, Claymores and Last Stand. Probably has the best iron sight (sniper scopes don't count) in the game.

It's true, at least in the PC version where someone got the numbers from to make that chart. And to Werty, there's a glitch that reduces the AKs damage by 20% if you use it with a RDS or silencer, that's why I only use mine with an ACOG scope.

Yeah, I know. But, it's still probably the best weapon to have a silencer on. The iron sights on it make it absolutely fantastic, and with the recoil reduce, and the AK's already high damage, it outweighs the small mitigation.

I play almost exclusively Hardcore Team Deathmatch, because I fucking hate the killcam. So basically, who needs to actually go for headshots when it hardly takes anything to kill? In my opinion normal games aren't nearly as fun when you have to pump them full of fucking bullets just to kill them. Hardcore requires a bit more tact, because running out in the open when you're so easy to kill is a bad idea.

Anyway, my favorite combination is my M16 with a silencer and UAV Jammer, Extreme Conditioning and 3x special grenades. On Hardcore you only get a mini-map when your team has UAV activated, so with UAV Jammer, a silencer, and Dead Silence (Which I have yet to get :frown:), you're essentially invisible, apart from actually being seen. 'Tis nice.

I don't like hardcore because it's so "realistic" - I don't like being shot essentially once and dying. At least in normal, you have some what of a fighting chance when you get ambushed.

I think, removing the crosshair is unrealistic. Normally you are holding the weapon yourself, so you can atleast feel where you're aiming it. Without the crosshair you have nothing to go by, which I think makes it harder then it would be in real life. Apart from that I think hardcore mode is the best.

No, you're right. A silencer only stops your shots from showing on the radar when you fire. The UAV jammer only stops you appearing on the radar when the enemy get a(n?) UAV.

In other words, if you shoot without a silencer, you will show up on radar, whether they have UAV or not, and if you don't have the jammer, you will show up whether you're firing like mad, or not at all.

Never said it was. If you die straight after getting the first chopper, sure you lose 7 kills, but if you're on a busy, open map, then the chopper will get you up and started quickly with your new streak, and then you'll have another chopper to use straight after, to add to the new streak.

I don't understand why you like the M14. Iron sights suck, and you can't rapid fire, because of the terrible recoil. It's 2 hit K.O., which means you have to wait a split second between shots. I'd rather use an M16 anyday, 1 Hit K.o., but its your choice on what weapon you like.

I don't like the M16 because for me personally, I find it so damn weak. I see other people killing people with one burst from it, but I could swear sometimes that it takes 5 full hits to down someone.

I'm starting to like sniping on every level. Barett is king, but I like the dragunov and M21 lots too. The bolt action snipers are utter shit, especially the R700. Grr, I hate that gun.

Remember, all snipers should do equal damage, so really the M21 is the best. If you hit them in the stomach and not the chest and they survive, than your just a click away. Almost no recoil with that beastly sniper. I love the acog on it as well. It brings it from a Medium-long to a close-mid long.

My favorite sniping spot right now is on strike. It is north (downhill) of the two-story every other sniper is in, right behind a couple of market style horse carts. It i really close to flag C (in a domination round.) I just lie down back there and have a perfect shot at anybody in the two story. It's in the shadows, so I'm practically invisible to them. As long as I don't expose myself with bad shots, the UAV jammer keeps me hidden from guys that get too close. On one round of domination, I was sniping from there, and every time someone tried to take C I ran in and knifed them. I think I made about 4-6 saves and got about 15 kills, not too bad for just sniping. By the way, I'm on PS3, what systems are you guys on?

I'm starting to love search and destroy. Me and 5 friends all partied up today, and played it solid for like 5 hours, we must have won so many games. I went from level 30 to 38, it's crazy experience.

It seems that every time I post, something else awesome happens to me. I played a domination at countdown w/ an M60 and an M1911. I ran for flag Bravo and took out two guys there. Some of their buddies came for me and I gunned them down. It took about 12 seconds there before I got my airstrike. I retreated and dropped it right on Bravo. Then I called in a chopper. I got a new best kill streak of 17 (I know it's not really phenomenal) and finished 47-10, a new personal best. The best part was when I had to reload my M60 I was dancing around with this guy. He emptied two clips and tried to stab me three times, but I toasted him as soon as I reloaded. I ended up going through all of my M60 ammo, my M1911 ammo, a few clips off someones G36, and a few clips off another guys M16. I think it was a bunch of newbs though, because I finished top for the next 4 maps in a row.

Well, just had a bit of a good game in S&D :fmita: Ended up 17-4 on district, with 1480 experience, including match bonus.
I could tell it would be a great game because of how well the first round went. I sprinted up to the stone wall, saw 3 of them coming up the stairs, dropped all 3. There were two snipers in the building opposite, so I took a detour through the market, knifing a guy who I passed as I rounded a corner, eventually got into the building, dropped the sniper in there, and planted quickly while the last guy was walkabout. I was last man standing by this point, so hid in a corner, and watched, and eventually the last guy came out, and I killed him with the bomb 9/10 diffused or something epicly close like that.

Also, bomb squad or w/e the perk is called is a lifesaver. I've gotten rid of so many claymores with it I could be on Backdraft X by now.

When I'm really stressful and just had a really bad game, (There was this one game I had on Team death match, 220 - 750, and I got 18 kills...talk about sucky team members!)
I play old school FFA. It is loads of fun, and you get a awesome kill/death ration at the end. Also, it is an easy, fun way to get those levels up, because every weapon you pick up counts toward your barracks, so its an easy way to level up "sucky" classes like the skorpion or shotguns.

My favorite part yesterday. Picked up Desert Eagle (and the clip size is 2x), picked up stopping power AND juggernaut...I think I got a 14 kill streak!

Right now I'm level 44. The first months I used to be really good, then when I started using the P90 I began to really fucking suck so I stopped, and now I'm playing again since a few weeks and I'm getting better again. My K/D Ratio is 1.00. Also, I fucking slay on Vacant.

And assassin, they're just subtley amazing. Extreme conditioning for example, has saved my life so many times, and sniping wouldn't be as fun as it is without iron lung.

I completely rape and pillage with the Silenced MP5, Frags x 3, Stopping Power and Steady Aim. I just run around and HS the shit out of everything, longest streak is 32.

I've been playing this game non stop since I got Xbox Live, it's super fun, I'm surprisingly good at it and everything. The only problem I have is sniping. I can't snipe for shit, does anyone have any super 1337 tips or is there like some magic secret I don't know about?

Right now I'm using the Dragunov with Claymores, Iron Lungs and Overkill with an AK-47 (which I didn't realize is an awesome fucking gun). I realize you have to aim just in front of them if they're farther away but I just can't get it right, and I never snipe because I suck at it. Do I just need to practice or should I just give up and fuck people up with my shotgun like I usually do?

And assassin, they're just subtley amazing. Extreme conditioning for example, has saved my life so many times, and sniping wouldn't be as fun as it is without iron lung.
I'm not really the run away type so Extreme Condition is pretty useless to me, and I don't snipe either

If you compare them the 3rd comes out the worst for me

1st Perks:

* Bomb Squad (Not that usefull)
* C4 x 2 (Don't use it)
* Claymore x 2 (Good perk, very handy)
* RPG-7 x 2 (Pretty usefull if you have not many perks yet)

* Extreme conditioning (Can't really use it)
* Steady Aim (Use the perk but I don't shoot from the hip anyway)

* Deep Impact (Only good for LMGs imo)
* Dead Silence (Don't use it cause I'm not a stealthy player)
* Iron Lungs (Usefull for snipers)
* Eavesdrop (Useless)

Doesn't steady aim keep you steadier when you're aimed in too though? I know it says hip-fire, but I could swear I get less recoil when using my sights with that perk on.

Also, I guess it depends what game type you prefer. I play a lot of search and destroy, where bomb squad really is a must. So many people use claymores and hide them so well, without it you die far too often. But yeah, not that great in a team deathmatch.

First off, hello Junglebunny, I have never really spoken in a thread at you before.

Now, sniping is an art which I consider myself the Vn Gogh(sp) of, considering I have the gold dragonuv, and can get an average of 18 kills with a sniper per round. I know it sounds like i am bragging, but I am just trying to get you to understand I am a good primary source for sniping tips.

There are 5 sniper rifles in Call of Duty 4. All of which have their benefits and their disadvantages. While some are better than others, some people find they prefer the others over the *better* ones. The sniper you choose, however, is all up to what you like.

The M4OA3 is the starter, and I have to admit I don't like it, but, it is very, very good. It is a quiet, highly accurate sniper, but it lacks damage. The sniper's silence benefits the sniper in not allowing enemies to pinpoint where the shots are coming from by ear. While using this weapon, the most efficient perks would be Stopping Power to up the damage, Deep Impact, some MORE damage, and any other which you desire.

The R-700, also known as the Remington 700 is a powerful and accurate weapon. It is a tiny bit less accurate than the M4OA3, but the damage is greater. The main reason people dislike it is because of it's lack of shots per round. This is pretty much my least favorite... Don't use it.

The M21 is the best starting sniper, it is semi-automatic, so it is comfortable for those who can't muster up the confidence to use a single shot, and has barely any recoil. To really get you comfortable, use Iron Lungs to capitalize on the rifle's low recoil between shots and knock off all your shots in the round into your target.

The Dragunov is a widely used semi-automatic sniper rifle preferred by many players. It’s powerful and accurate. But it has a major drawback, that leads people to use different sniper rifles. The recoil after the first shot causes the aim, at times to jump drastically up, thus preventing you from making a second, follow up shot if needed. There are quite a few ways around that, implemented by snipers such as releasing the deep breathing trigger and then squeezing it again, or exiting zoom and going back in really quickly to make up for the recoil. This is my second favorite sniper (also because it's gold :D)

Finally, the Barrett M107 .50 Calibur. Oh damn, step the fuck back. This gun can accurately be called an accurate rocket launcher considering it shoots a .50 cal round into it's enemy. This gun packs such a punch that they give you a 2 second or something recoil to bask in the happiness sent through you from the sound of the shot. If someone fires a .50 cal, it’s heard equally in all corners of the map. This causes some players to keep their head down and move slowly, thus giving time for their enemies to set up. This gun takes practice, TONS of practice. But once you have mastered it you can take advantage of the fear struck into your enemies when they hear that noise.... BANG!


Alrighty, so those are your snipers. Next would be tactics.

The only real tactical piece of advice I can give you is about positioning.
Most players consider themselves good snipers when they get a high kill count, but don't talk about the equal amount of deaths to go with it. A good sniper dies at MOST once per round, normally from a misfired shot or a loose grenade. Reason being, a good sniper knows where and when to be.

When sniping, you should take no more than five shots at a given location, and that number must be in a certain window of time, never allow someone you have killed to have the time to get to you. Take your shot, and if you miss, hide, and shoot again. If you HIT, give yourself ten seconds, then move. Not only are you going to move, but you are going to go the most ludicrous way you can come up with, just to ensure that no one can be following you/watching you. Truth be told, two sniping locations are enough to rotate between during a round, but most maps have a good 10 exceptional ones, and about 20 makeshift ones.

Always try to find sniping positions where you can see spots where people would think you could NEVER see them, where they will stop for more than a second so you can pop off a round.


Another good idea would be to have the UAV Jammer perk, so even with UAV, the enemies won't have a clue to where you are. Another good defense mechanism would be claymores, since you don't have peripheral vision when sniping, an explosive is a good alarm, and or guard.

I'm glad somebody finally understands that sniping isn't about kills, it's about KDR. I sniped one round and had about 8-10 kills, but 0 deaths. Everyone was ragging on me because I had such a low score, but they all had at least 15 deaths a piece. The more deaths on your team, the more kills on theirs. Here's another tip: find an uncommon sniping spot that isn't that great. I find it great to have a good spot where I won't neccessarily have the best field of fire, but where I can countersnipe. Ex: On Crash there is a building in the corner (near flag C in domination) that offers a fairly good view of the roof of the one dominating building. I got sniped off the roof 6 times before I found the guy sniping me, and since you don't have as much ground to cover with your eyes, you always have the better reaction time over the guy up top. If your just getting started with sniping, I would definitely recommend the M21, don't just try the Dragunov first. If you really want to challenge yourself, though, take the M40A3 without any damage perks. Without the chance of a second shot, you almost have to get headshots every time. Happy hunting junglebunny

Another thing about snipers.

If you look at the damage chart, all snipers DO 70 damage, but, you have to look at the damage multipliers too. So, in the end, Barrette does the most damage to any part of the body, meaning its probably going to be a 1 hitter, so instead of stopping power, it may be better to use over kill or UAV jammer.

Perks I find to like, are Claymore, UAV Jammer, and Iron Lungs. As the above poster said, MOVE AROUND. Totally important.

I was just sniping in a search and destroy match, and I came to a realization; Sniping is all strategy.

If you are a regular sniper, you look for enemy players on the map, and shot their fuckin' heads in. But if you are one of those 0 death, 20 kill, teammates wanting you to snipe every round type of snipers, you can accurately estimate where your enemies are going to be, how they are going to get there, and when a person will be at a designated spot, so you can know when to hold your breath, and when to fire before you even have to.

I know it sounds a bit ridiculous, but honestly, that is how I get most of my kills. These tactics work on most smaller maps, which have little choices on where to go. But on larger, more elaborate maps, you might have to go the first round with an assault weapon to get to know your competition. Once you've got a handle on your opponents, get that sniper bullet into their fucking skull!

I was playing on the board Pipeline, and for those of you who don't know, it is very elaborate and has many tunnels and hiding spots. I was positioned in a very awkward spot right next to the ladder on the train. Since the game had just started, I had time to consider where I should be aiming. Reflecting on the round before, I remembered how tactical the other team was, and how they constantly stayed indoors (to avoid snipers like me). They also seemed to enjoy the use of the tunnel system, which had entrances and exits all inside. I realized I wouldn't be getting a fair shot at any of them unless I took it before they knew it could hit-'em.

Quickly, I assessed the situation. Taking into account that I could see the slope leading into the tunnel through a doorway into a building, I knew there would only be about 10 seconds to react and get a shot in before they were out of the tunnels and moving toward me. I aimed at a spot that I felt comfortable with where I thought the enemies heads would soon be. A split second later I realized the time had come and my finger twitched. Looking intently at the cross-hair on my screen, I saw the relieving "x" pop up, but it was NOT a kill. I realized he must have had enough time to react, so I considered the fact that he ran a bit forward, and swerved over... I took another shot, STILL not a kill, finally, he was out in the open of the doorway, and I realized he was living still only because of his last stand perk. I no longer had the breath to hold, and my scope swiveled around the screen. Seconds later, one of my teammates got the kill. I was not upset by this, for I knew if I had not weakened him, my teammate would be dead.


Just a little strategic story on my sniping adventures for you guys.

i play on computer, i use the mp5, only, on every map. I rush, and kill everyone.

best records are 132-28 on ambush, 138-32 on overgrown, 120-35 on bog, the list goes on and on :P

oh yeahh best kill streak 31, and i just broke 2.0 k/d ratio like 24000 kills 12000 deaths. and my playing times only 3 days 20 hours haha (that's since the game came out).

oh and yeah, snipers suck ballsack, you don't need all these crazy mathematical formulas and tactics and what not, shit just grab an mp5 and learn to evade peoples fire, learn nade spots, learn how to play. snipers are camping noobs.

I used to love the R700, got it to a red tiger before I prestiged, but recently, I've gotten into acog sniping, and holy hell it is WAY more fun than sitting around protected by claymores.

The R700 seemed accurate until I got into the acog thing, and I realized what a piece of shit it was. You draw a bead on someone and fire 3 times, and somehow don't hit them. The Christ is that? I prefer the M4AO3 now. Or the Barret. Holy god the Barret has so much ammo, I cleared a room full of people just by firing the clip empty without bothering to aim. (Vacant though)

Me and some friends have started practising with the grenade launcher. We play a lot of search and destroy, and so practise maps amongst ourselves. We've gotten to the point where on Wet Work, Overgrown, Ambush and Crossfire, we can kill people on the other side of the map as soon as we all spawn most times we try. We get called noobs so often, but we don't care, 800 points a game is worth a little hate.
Plus, it brings some amazing moments. One which springs to mind is on Downpour. We started at the bottom of the the hill, and ran forwards, firing our grenades. I got to the greenhouse with all the broken windows, fired one over the sheet metal building in the middle, and hit a guy. I asked him after the game, it had hit him square in the chest. Luckily he thought it was as funny as us.
Another was on Crossfire. We had started at the top of the hill, and my friend ran into the building on the right hand side, the one with the hole in the wall which connects two rooms. He came out, and some guy started shooting at him from his right, so he did a reflex shot, and the grenade richochéd off of three walls, before hitting the guy and killing him with direct impact. Bloody hilarious that was.

And I was doing a TDM on Ambush an hour ago, the game started, I fired one off, got a quadruple kill within 5 seconds. Hell yeah :clint:

I got to prestige mode over Winter Break, then stopped playing. But I used an m16 with stopping power and a desert eagle. I preferred domínation on either Overgrown, Pipeline, or Shipment. I'm very rusty now, but COD is an addiction to me, once I get back into it I can't stop.

Me and two friends played our first 'competitive' match this evening. We're in gamebattle.com's EU ladder, and played a side quite a bit better than us. Lost 4-2 on Vacant S&D, won 200-142 Ambush Domination, and won Bloc Sabotage within 4 minutes!
We were well chuffed, especially when we turned up and all 3 of them were in the 8th/9th prestige. Thought we were in for an arse-pounding.

Dead silence or extreme conditioning - depends on what mode im playing

I find the M14 to be one of the best weapons in the game. With it I can pretty much snipe across a map with dead accuracy and on hardcore modes it kills in one shot. Although for hardcore I also use the G3 with red dot and stopping power instead of the M14 since it can kill in one shot and also has low recoil compared to the M14

Another class I use is my ghost class
MP5 w/ silencer
USP silenced

Claymores
UAV jammer
Dead silence

Quite a good class for hardcore search and destroy and generally good for anytihng
