Call it what you will, lately I've been getting into it more and more. While I'm definitely liking what I've heard so far, it's not exactly easy to get into the Trance underground world.. Most of the artists have little to no mainstream publicity, so it's hard to find them.. Most of what I listen to is Paul Oakenfold, BT, Tiesto, and Aphex Twins.. I'd like to find out some other good Trance music to listen to, because it's really good stuff.

You may want to check out The Future Sound of London. They were pretty popular in the mid 90s for their Trance music. Another not so bad one is Keoki, but that kind of skates on the frontiers of House music as well. I don't know if he counts as Trance, but Autechre is also really good stuff. He uses some interesting rhythms and sounds to create a unique style all his own.
Three must haves for Trance music would be Orbital, The Orb (different bands) and Underworld. Orbital pretty much was THE electronica group for quite some time. Underworld and The Orb were also popular during the same period of time in the mid to late 90s.

I think I may have heard a bit of The Future Sound of London before, it was pretty good, what I remember of it that is. What is House music, anyway? I get so confused with all these different genres, I figure they should just start lumping shit together..
Also: Android accept me on MSN. :wail:
Listen to DJ Shadow, he's fantastic. NIN is sort of techno-ish although Trent Resnor probably doesn't fall under that category very often. Give them a go though, I love them.

well, you are right about that NIN isn't techno/trance. And Dj Shadow uses the 70's funk and trip-hop category.
If i may recommend some good trance for you, it would be www.etn.fm, they have 24/7 radio shows, and you can browse the artists (i think).

Tiesto is the trance lord. He's by far my favorite trance artist. Benny Benassi is a pretty good artist, though some of his music sounds the same. Check out "I love my sex" or "Turn me up".

The Chemical Brothers are pretty good but they're more Electronica than Techno/Trance. Darude is good too. Everyone loves Sandstorm. Also check out The 89ers. Their song Funky Beatz is so damn catchy.
Also a lot of music in Dance Dance Revolution. That's where I get most of mine.
The easiest thing to do though would be to go to a music store and buy a compilation CD. You can get a lot of good trance that way. I told my friend to do that once (he wanted to have a rave) and he ended up buying a 7 CD box-set of techno.

You might want to check out the Hackers Soundtracks. I think they released 3 of them, maybe more. Anyway, there is some excellent techno, trance, and dance music on those CDs.
I prefer DnB to Trance.
Git some Evil Activities in 'er!
But if you want, like, Trance, I think Scott Brown is decent.

Paul van Dyk or Simian Mobile Disco are the closest to techno I listen to. Electronica is just techno with lyrics so you could check out Architecture In Helsinki, Shout Out Out Out Out, Electrocute, or Electrelane.

If you like Aphex Twin and his earlier work, then I'd say branching out into electronica/ambient artists would be worth it:
- Boards Of Canada
- Autechre
- Muslimgauze
- Biosphere
Then if you like that, post-rock might be your cup of tea:
- Mogwai
- Godspeed you! black emperor
- A silver mt. zion
- Sigur ros
SO MANY CHOICES D:
