Alright so last night I was at my friends house and his sister, who is back for a week from college, starts screaming. So we are like, "What the hell?" So we go upstairs to see her freaking out in front of the bathroom. I mean she was to the point of tears. So my friend asks her, "Whats wrong?" And she screams at him, "I JUST FLUSHED MY WHOLE FUCKING LIFE DOWN THE TOILET!" So I ask her what she means, turns out she flushed her phone down the toilet when it was flushing. I guess it fell out of her hand/pocket or something. Anyway the whole plumbing was messed up and she got her sim card so not too big of a deal but it was just so funny with the whole life flushing deal.

So I was just wondering what are your Tech Death stories? Phones, iPods, Computers, anything please do share.

My vibrator stopped one night when I had nothing else to do.
It made me cry.

In the middle of watching porn my computer completely broke. I still don't know what happened, and I could never get it to turn back on. I was about to get a new one anyway though so it wasn't really too bad.

Yeah my dads computer did that once, I was the one looking at porn though I called him and somehow convinced him that I "bumped" the off button, he had important files open and unsaved. I still wonder to this day if he knew I mean I used to use his computer for that stuff like everyday in grade seven.

I once plugged in a hard drive while the computer was on. Not even like 2 minutes afterwards a chip began to bubble up and smoke on it. Luckily I didn't need the hard drive so I wasn't too upset.

I threw my brother off of a couch and directly onto a brand new iPod. The screen cracked, but due to a warranty I was lucky enough to have gotten, I got a brand new iPod free of charge.

I accidentally wiped my documents folder, but I didn't notice for ages. On the other hand, a guy at school the other day dropped his ipod about 5 metres, and it took a scratch or two, but still worked fine.

I left my iPod on the floor once during a storm and my bedroom roof was leaking because hail had put holes in the tin. Needless to say it got completely drenched and wouldn't even turn on. I've found iPods to be pretty resilient, but get them wet and you're pretty much screwed.

Nothing of mine has ever really messed up that bad before, but my friends Ipod just started screwing up all of the sudden. The thing wouldn't ever work again but he got a new one. The only thing that ever happened to me is my laptop's buttons started coming off but they replaced it with a better one for 30$.

I washed my cell phone once. Well, it didn't go through a whole run, I realized it before hand but it wouldn't turn out when i took it out of my pants pocket. After a couple days though it turned on and worked fine, for the most part. Camera wouldn't work anymore though.

My discman fell off my work desk the other week and now it will turn on but wont play CDs. And before anyone asks why I don't just take my MP3 player to work, it's because the discman has a wall adapter, hence saving money on batteries.

I've had zen mp3 player for two years now and dropped it more times than I can count.
It usually survives but in my physics class the other day my friend dropped it and it smashed to pieces. The casing broke in two, the curcuit board and the buttons fell out. I almost cried.
I slotted it all back together with some selotape, turned it on, not expecting it to work, but it did.

I dropped my phone on the deck of a boat last weekend, and it skidded off into the sea. I was pretty gutted, because I'd only had it for 3 weeks, and I had a load of cool photos and videos on it.

Years ago we had bought a copy of Worms: Armageddon for the computer.

I was playing it one day and it was busy loading. All of a sudden I heard what sounded like the computer going into overdrive really loud and then I heard a huge bang inside the computer.

Turns out something had happened and the whole CD was ripped in half. Never played Worms: Armageddon again. :wail:

I was being a dumbass and decided to open up my PSP for fun. I got all the screws out but one, which was way too tight to take out. So i said fuck it and i just ripped the faceplate off, which messed something up on the inside. Needless to say it doesn't work anymore. Meh, it was lame anyway, though watching porn on the go is pretty fun.

My phone insurance stopped covering me. I broke my phone once by sending through the wash and my replacement phone stopped working after being in a mosh-pit with it in my pocket. I felt so hardcore.

2 nights ago my computer blue screened again (been happening one or two times a day).
I finally cracked it and decided to reinstall windows after running chkdsk /r on every drive (650GB in drives) and reformatting everything (full format, not quick), and hunting down an XP install CD

Hours into the process :facts:, I can finally start the install, in goes the XP CD, select the drive to install to, *BSoD*, restart, BSoD, cold boot, BSoD....

I'm 95% sure my mobo is dead, now I have to use my roommates crappy laptop :(

The really annoying thing is that it's really cheap to replace, but I'm that broke that I can't see me replacing it for a month or two.

Why the hell does EVERYONE need a phone anyhow? >.>

Anyhow, my iPod got half-eaten by my bike. Long story, but it has a gash on the side. Still works perfectly for some reason though.

Why the hell does EVERYONE need a phone anyhow?

Generally I like people to be able to contact me when I am away from a computer and aside from the postal system a phone seems like a pretty good way to go.

I was talking on my cell phone the other day and it fell out of my hand and fell about 6 ft. It worked, but the screen did not. I played with it and got the screen to work, aside from the back light, and just routed the audio through my laptop via bluetooth for a few days. Then one day I just turned it on and everything worked. It was strange.

I was in a really big hurry one time, and I shoved all of my stuff inside my purse, including a water bottle that i didn't close fully. Needless to say, everything was drenched, my iPod included. I had had it for about two years, so I was pretty broken up. I took it out of my bag, and the screen was full of water. It looked like a little aquarium with no fish.

I had to wait for about an hour, but when I got back to my room I pried it open with a pen and some scissors, and then proceeded to blow dry it. I left it open overnight to dry out, and then in the morning shut it and tried to turn it on. Nothing happened, so I figured it was dead. But when I got back to my house, (I was at a chorus camp) I plugged it into the charger, it charged, and now works normally. Well, the battery life is shorter, but it still goes for about 6 hours. It's a generation five (?) picture iPod.

I defiantly thought it was dead. What a trooper!

My computer has the tendancy to turn off whenever I'm doing a peice of flash art I've worked on for 4 hours+, if that counts.

Last weekend I got really really drunk. I wake up the next morning and my iPod wouldn't turn on, I've tried everything but nothing works. It could have been from a number of things, the thing I'm thinking that did it was when I fell down the stairs.

I got the red ring as I was about to get Overkill on Halo 3. I had the sword and was running behind my 4th kill when the screen went black, when I turned my 360 back on the three segments lit up red. It fucking sucked.

Yeah my friend spilled soda in my 360 disc drive a while ago while changing the game. It didnt turn on and it voided the warranty or something so I am waiting to get enough cash to get a new one.

She bought you a new one? Wow.

I had this crappy iPod mini and i dropped it on the sidewalk and the screen cracked bad. The next day I bought an iPod Video. Unfortunately the day after that was when the iPod Classic came out. I was obviously pissed.

Wow dude you have a sweet mom. The only time my mom just bought me a video game thing besides like christmas and stuff was when I had the original Playstation and I didn't have a memory card so my mom told me to just leave it on. One night the power went out, lost all of my data she bought me a BIGASS memory card next day.

I was on the last level of spyro too.

When I was in Mexico, this past Thanksgiving, I bought a few bootlegged video games for the 360 and I sat down and started to play. The game that I was mostly intrested in was Call of Duty 4, so I sat down played and played. After I finished it, I rested and looked at the games that I bought. I saw Ace Combat 6, so I sat down and started to play. After finishing 3 levels, I saw it freeze, and Red Blocks appeared on the screen. So I turned it off, and started it again. After 3 secounds I see the Red Blocks again, and I do the same. After the 3rd try I saw the Ring Of Death. I was fucking pissed, and instead of wasting cash on bootlegged videogames I got my 360 fixed.

Three days ago now, I was listening to my ipod, and it was feeling a bit warm, I thought it was just because I'd been listening to it for about 6 hours straight. And anyway, I'm listening away then it made this really high pitched noise which hurt like fuck, then I got what felt like a massive electric shock through my ears, and my iPod caught fire.
I now have a fucking annoying arsed ringing in my ears, the doctor reckons it's because of minor damage to my ear drums, from the electric shock and the high pitched noise. Supposedly it should go away soon. Anyways I got insurance on my ipod, and the store I bought it from is getting me a newer, better one, which I am promptly going to sell, and go out and buy a normal old MP3. So I'll have an extra 200 dollars, plus the left over from selling my ipod and getting a new MP3, fuck yeah.

I just hope I don't go deaf. If I do, I'm filing a lawsuit against Apple...

Actually, worst thing that happened to me happened a week ago. My shitty Dell laptop stuffed up completely. I was moving it (and the monitor was already coming off, one good pull and it'd come right off) and I didn't realise a can of coke was sitting beside it.

Next thing I know it spills ALL OVER the keyboard and into the motherboard... Bah. No big deal. I just like like all my game saves, pictures. music and most importantly - my website backup (mainly just other websites that weren't uploaded yet and resources not backed up yet).

Now I'm waiting to see if the insurance will cover my stupidity lol. I ain't exactly pissed off. It was a shit laptop anyway and if the coke hadn't killed it, I would've... with an axe/sledge hammer.

Everything breaks in my hands. I've broken like 5 cellphones and 2 mp3 players, some headphones etc.
My last mp3 player that I bought on the 17th October. Yes it even didn't live a month, like 3 weeks. I just turned it on, saw that the battery is dead. When I turned it on after a few hours, it said it has some kind of a firmware problem. I didn't do anything it just didn't work. I can't do anything with it because the computer wont recognize it and it doesn't recharge etc. The best part is that my dad threw away the box it came in and I may not get any insurance on it now. He's so paying for it then :argh:.

So I got an MRI yesterday and my dad brought in my wallet which had a few gift cards in it and stuff and I gave it to him to keep safe. So the magnets in the MRI fucked over the gift card strips. SO I told him that the two EB games giftcards had a combined total of 150. He was all like shit son and had to reimburse me for like 200 in gift cards.

Um, what kind of mp3 player are you using that needs batteries? You also know that mp3 players are rechargeable right?

Anyway, the only tech death I've had is when I broke my alarm clock. I get grumpy and I got a little carried away one morning.

Lots of MP3 players use batteries. :indiff:

I'm serously worried I'm gonna experience a tech death. My Zen has been dropped and smacked about so many times, it's a wonder something hasn't been knocked loose already.

Oh, and my last pair of headphones bit the dust because the cord caught on something while I was running and yanked it right out. It's the reason why I switched to wireless headphones.

I've left my USB drive in my pants several times and they end up getting washed but luckily they still work. On my old computer, I was trying to install Verizon internet, so I put in the CD they had sent us in the mail, but then my computer crashed and started getting all weird, and wouldn't turn on. They charged us for a month of internet we didn't use. Assholes.

A year and a half ago I hacked my psp with custom firmware to play N64 games off of it... Needless to say I bricked it by accident and got mega pissed.

Anyway about a week ago one of my buddies told me to hold the R button down to access a recovery mode which lightened my day because it worked fine. I loaded in a 1.5 downgrade and then re-upgraded it. Now the N64 emulator works and I saved the 300 dollars I used to buy it.

About 3 years ago my mother was pissed at me for quiting high school so she smashed my desktop. At the time it was like a 1300$ Sony Viao. It sucked for like the first 5 days but I eventually got the money to build a computer. Which in turn I had to sell shortly thereafter to pay rent. So now I'm stuck with a shitty wireless laptop I got for 300$. I also watched her throw my PS2 off the ground but that somehow survived, my younger brother fixed whatever small problem it had.

The Muffin Man

My 360 was having the unreadable disc error, so I took it apart and messed around with it, and now it works fine. It's just laying there naked with its insides showing.

Also, it once got the red of death, so I unplugged all the plugs and plugged them tightly back in. It worked just fine after that.

Got my phone through the wash a couple of times. I'm on my 4th phone, third one didn't break. The second I dropped and it wouldn't turn on anymore.

I also broke the piece to my laptop charger, which is why there's no computer in my house.

My mom stepped on our PS2 a few months ago. We got a new one.
