I had this friend and we went on a "date" - he didn't have much money and I said I'd pay. We went to a pretty low class, mid-priced restaurant for dinner...I told him what I wanted to eat and then went to the bathroom and he proceeded to order for me, well I got back not really thinking about what he had ordered for himself, we ate and had a pretty nice time. The check came and that's when I noticed he had order quite literally the most expensive thing on the menu - I know that was rude of him but I didn't want to be rude myself since I did say I'd pay. Needless to say I never offered to pay again. And that story was way longer typed out than going over it in my head.

From my social group, it is quite mixed. Some of my friends will be smoking hash fairly regularly, popping pills, having fun but not doing anything hard like heroine.
Others will draw the line at smoking cigarettes and drinking, but we're all tolerant and respectful of what we each get up to. If we go out for a few drinks, those that occasionally take drugs will come too, but won't offer any to us, nor will they take some while we're out. In return, if we go somewhere where we know there will be drugs, we keep our mouths shut and have a good time, which is why everyone has gone out in the first place!!
We don't think in terms of cool (cos we're all major geeks and nerds, to varying degrees).
If someone is taking them for recreation, that's fine. If someone were taking them because they were addicted, I'm sure we'd step in and try to help them off it before anything bad happened.

I'm actually recovering from cancer so I haven't done, and still can't do much, but I play hockey once in a while with my step dad. It helps me get better quickly and I used to play in the local team as a kid. Otherwise, I was supposed to try and get into the college volleyball team, but then cancer back stabbed me when everything was great. Will try again next year.

My first job in the film industry as a PA (production assistant) and runner. We were shooting at Johannesburg Airport. All the equipment was parked in the farhtest conrner of the 4th level of parking, the shoot was happening in International Departures. The distance between the two was no less than a killometre. I started at 3am and left at 3am teh next day. I ran backwards and forwards carrying dolly tracks (big metal tracks for the camera) and other heavy equipment from the second I got there to the second I left. As hierarchy on a film set goes, I was the noob who did everything, and took abuse along the way. I ruined a brand new pair of shoes and had the closest thing to a nervous break down on the way home.

Best time of my life in retrospect.
