As we all know, ps2 games are now going cheap as chips, some even around the $20 mark. So I was thinking, since I'm not gonna be able to afford a next-gen console for a while I might pick up a couple of games while they're going cheap and I was wonder if you fellow explosmers could recommend me some good games.
Heres some games/series's that I like:
GTA series
Hitman series
Red Faction series
Area 51
WWE Smackdown series
Medal Of Honour series
Godfather: The Game
True Crime: Streets of L.A.
That's about all I can think of for now.
Quite an underated game, but quite entertaining nonetheless, The Suffering.
For mindless button bashing action, try Devil May Cry I & II.
You've already mentioned the GTA series, in my opinion San Andreas being the best.
Also, the Need For Speed series is good entertainment.
And the best fighting/story games around are definitely the Def Jam series. In which you pit hip hop stars against oneanother play a street fighter making his way up the ranks.
That's all I got at the moment.
The Warriors.
Even though it was made after a movie in like the 80's (great movie by the way), it's still just as awesome as new stuff today. Basically your the gang everyones after, and you just rob banks, steal car radios, and kick ass all along the way.

God Of War, and I've heard God of War 2 is meant to be better but I've yet to play it. Bully/Canis Canem Edit is also good if you're a fan of the GTA series, or even if you aren't. Definitely get Resident Evil 4 as well, I recently started playing it and it's made me ignore my PS3 games for about a week.
Yeah, God of War 2 is alot better then 1. Definetely pick up those 2 games, though.
Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven is amazingly fun with friends. Then of course there's Resident Evil 4, Red Dead Revolver (it seems everyone has just kinda forgotten about this game), Kingdom hearts, etc.

I enjoyed shadow of colossus, and I'm pretty sure its cheaper than 20$ now. Great graphics, great idea, although relatively short game.

You should check out Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3. I just bought MGS2 second hand for 60 NOK, which is about the equivalent of 10$.

Been considering God Of War and The Warriors for a while now, so I'll definatly be picking them up. I've also recently been considering MGS3 so I'll have a look for it. Bully sounds pretty sweet as well. RE4 looks pretty fucking awesome. Red Dead Revolver sounds pretty sweet but I don't know much about it, is it like Gun? Because I loved Gun but traded it in 2 days later 'cause I finished it over night and I thought that was a rip off. Thanks for the recommendations, if you think of anymore, let me know!
RE4 defiantly.
Also Shadow of the Collusus and the God of Wars are great.
Yeah, it's like Gun. I dunno, me and my friend finished it in 2 days and loved it. I can't remember too much about it, though.

Onimusha is one of my favorite games. Both 1 and 2, just make sure you don't get 3 (Onimusha: Demon Siege). I'm not sure what they were thinking when they made it but it's terrible. So yeah, Onimusha: Warlords (the first installment) and Onimusha: Samurai's Destiny (the second installment). Both fantastic if you're into Resident Evil style controls and killing but set in Feudal Japan with swords and magic and shit. It's a dark and pretty gory game at times, but still fucking awesome.

Metal Gear Solid, God of War, and Kingdom Hearts are my favorite game series. They are all epic, and they are all great games.

Twisted Metal: Black is possibly my favorite console game of all time. Incredible and very interesting storyline (it's a very dark game, if you can handle that). I dunno if you would like the gameplay or not, but I still would recommend it.
It also got a 9.5 on Gamespot.com

Defiantly pick up the God of War games, they're excellent. Darkwatch is another of my favourites, I just started playing it again the other day and it's still awesome.

Take True Crime: Streets of LA off your list, now.

Talking about being surprised something wasn't mentioned, nobody said Final Fantasy XII. The game is superb, and the cutscenes are the best on PS2.

Been thinking of getting Battlefront 2 and XIII looks sweet with the cool cel-shading and stuff.
I'm gonna see what I get for christmas before I buy anything, but heres my shopping list so far:
Resident Evil 4
Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater
1 of the God Of War Games
Red Dead Revolver, if I can find it
The Warriors
Star Wars: Battlefront 2
Should hopefully be able to pick up most of these for around $100 all up hopefully.
Can I tell you what PS2 games NOT to buy?
- Kingdom Hearts 2
- Shadow of the Collosus (terrible camera angles, too short)
Brimstone

I would say Samurai Warriors but then I'd be an outcast.

All of these, Plus the entire Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, and Sly Cooper trilogies. I can.\'t believe no one is putting those on their lists. They were great games.
Also if you feel like some PS1 games get (Like John Travolta said) Crash Bandicoot 1-3 and Spyro the Dragon.
As well as DMC1 and 3. I heard 2 wasn.\'t that great.

The Jack and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank series's look pretty cool, I've played demos of some of the games in it, might consider getting 1 of the newer ones. My little brother got a Spyro game for his birthday so I'll definatly be giving that a go.
