View Full Version : The law system in my town sucks

Seriously. Today I found out my town has a horrible law system.

Me and a few friends are out back in the alley behind my house, playing with some old Nerf guns. For some dumb ass reason, my friend brought out a gun that looked real. It was made from a piece of wood and an old shotgun barrel. So, somebody in my neighborhood calls the cops, saying that kids in the alley have a gun. A few minutes later, 3 cops come down the alley with shotguns pointed at us. Here I am, holding a brightly colored orange and blue Nerf gun, and they come at me with a shotgun. So, anyway, after they found out they were toys, they took down your names n such, and left. Seriously, kids with guns. Whadya think?

How is that a horrible law system? Someone thought that you guys had guns, called the cops, so the cops got there in A FEW MINUTES to protect the innocent?

Damn, I wish all law systems were that bat.

Your friend obviously had a suspicious looking gun though.

Don't get worked up over one incident... You say that your law system sucks because someone got suspicious and called the cops on you ONCE.

Oh my god crisis! Go read over your laws and I bet you'll find they aren't all bad. Douche.

shoulda shot a nerf ball at them

Trust me, I wanted to sooo bad, as they were leaving.

And, yeah, I guess he did have a suspicious gun. But with a bunch of other kids with orange, blue guns? Seriously.

InTransit

If I was in the cops position, I would've done the exact same thing. I don't want some punk-ass kid running around my neighbourhood shooting people. The cops would've had no idea it was fake.

Tricky_The_Clown
08-23-2007, 2:51 AM
But everybody else has these obviously fake ones. I see no reason to have a gun on my head when I'm holding a Nerf bazooka thing.

b1wsatan
08-23-2007, 3:05 AM
shoulda have shot nerf ball, you get shot, sue town for massive amounts of money on the grounds that it is a fucking nerf gun.

I agree with InTransit. That doesn't mean that your law system sucks. Actually, in a real case scenario, isn't that what SHOULD'VE been done?

Kwanza
08-23-2007, 3:10 AM
The people who called the cops over-reacted horribly, but the cops did what they had to. Sure, it's a false alarm, but what if it wasn't?

Tweek
08-23-2007, 3:11 AM
Dude, just cause you guys had obviously fake guns doesn't automatically mean that the other guy's gun is fake.
They have to make sure.
It's not like they were assholes or anything, they just were trying to protect people.

Tricky_The_Clown
08-23-2007, 3:11 AM
I just seriously think, if I saw a bunch of kids in my backyard with green, orange, red and blue guns, and then ONE that looks SOMEWHAT real, I don't think I would have bothered.

Tweek
08-23-2007, 3:14 AM
It is a policeguy's duty to bother.

Seriously though, I think I just wrote this out of anger against idiot neighbors.

Wow, your law system actually works fine. It's a good thing when cops get on the scene so fast. Tell your friend, not to make toy-guns out of shotguns barrels and stuff. I had probably called too. Maybe this one kid wants to show off a real gun? Hey guys, your nerf guns suck, look at mine *BAM* . Whooopsie.

Captain Insanity
08-23-2007, 6:45 AM
You also fail to take into account kids are idiots. Sure your gun may be fake but there's alays that idiot that thinks "well a real gun beats fake guns" and then heads to daddy's boomstick cabinet to help himself. There's nothing "bad" about the situation playing out like it had. If there had been just nerf guns and teh cops were called, you have crapy neighbours. If the cops came and beat/shot all of you for carrying weapons, though fake, and the courts do nothing THEN you'd have a bad legal system.

Edit:Damn you Mirrorboy beat me to it!

Dude, a kid with what looks like a real gun and someone called the police? I don't think that's really a reason to freak out, in fact if I were you I'd be glad that the police reacted so quickly. Knowing that the law enforcement were capable and willing to react in that manner if it was a real situation should be what you take out of this, not whinging about the neighbours!

And if you were an old dude and saw a kid with a gun, wouldn't you call the police?

Mirrorman
08-23-2007, 11:03 AM
Hah, sorry captain. Atleast that shows that someone thinks as I do. Even I've got some relatives, who got a hard lesson like that. Long story short, one kid found a gun and blew the other one in the head or something.

Stina_xx
08-23-2007, 11:45 AM
So you were playing in an alley, with nerf guns, and a fake gun that looked real.
Then someone who saw the real looking gun was worried and called the police, and the police got there in minutes.
Yeah, the law system really sucks.

And if you were an old dude and saw a kid with a gun, wouldn't you call the police?

Since when is it illegal to have a gun?

Mr. Crow
08-23-2007, 1:13 PM
Since when is it illegal to have a gun?

1. It's illegal for a kid to have a gun.

2. It's illegal to run around, waving a gun in public.

3. How do the bystanders know that you have a license to carry the weapon? Are you saying that they should just assume that the person has a license, is responsible, and doesn't intend to fire the weapon?

To the OP:

Ha ha. Serves you right.

08-23-2007, 1:26 PM
That's not bad at all if a person saw someone with a gun why wouldn't they ring the cops even if they thought it might be fake they'd want to make sure for their own safty

It may not have occured to you, but kids kill their friends all the time by bringing out a real pistol or something to show off, it happened recently in a town next to mine, some idiot stole his dads shotgun to play with his mates, he thought it'd be cool to have a real gun against fake ones, but it was loaded (stupidity of the parent too), and he accidentally killed his friend.

So I just applaud the caller and the police for reacting quickly.

And if you wanna see a shitty law system, come try living in Detroit.

Woah, Holy Shit Tricky... Cops that actually come when they think some kids have a loaded gun? Dude, that sucks so much...:ahe:

I would praise the cops if they actually came around the time I called them. If I saw three kids playing with what looked like a gun near my house.. I'd call the Po-Po immediatley; I'm never in the mood to get shot. And plus you didn't even get in-trouble; They just wrote down your name. You have nothing to complain about.

08-23-2007, 3:05 PM
That whole situation could have wound up a whole lot worse. Think about that exact situation, but instead the kid actually gets shot by the police. I don't really think that what you described is a dumb law. Nor is it dumb that the police responded to a report of "kids running around in an alley with guns".

You should be glad they didn't taser you. The police here are taser happy. They actually tried to taser a guy who was about to jump off a bridge. Someone had coaxed him down so the police decided that then would be a good time to taser him. One of the probes missed and the jumper freaked out and jumped off the bridge, killing himself. The police here also tasered a man having a seizure (they thought he was in "excited delirium"), and also shot a man in the head because one off-duty police officer "thought" he was trying to steal his truck.

Or those police officers in other cities who tasered a man who had doused himself in gasoline (which set him on fire) and tasered a man holding a newborn baby (which the man dropped).

I'd say your law system is working pretty damn well.

08-23-2007, 3:38 PM
I think it's common sense by now that showing off a replica or something appears to be an actual gun is a bad idea. I say your law system in your town works.

If I were the cops, I would have shot the guns out of all of your hands.

Then I would have felt bad later when I realize that you can't really do that too well with a shot gun.

You're lucky. We got some new administrators here recently, who made headlines for encouraging non-lethal options when dealing with violent criminals. That's kind of a new idea. They also don't investigate things, I don't know that a criminal of any sort has ever been caught unless it was in the act or from a video tape. If the latter they still rarely look.

Haha I was over at my buddie's house playing with a bunch of airsoft guns one time, and I decided to leave right at the moment a bunch of cops showed up and were walking toward his front door. So 5 cops see me walk out the front door with an airsoft gun in my hand, walking right at them. It was an extremely unlucky coincidence, of course they immediately drew their guns, forced me down, handcuffed me at gunpoint, then I spent the next hour and a half trying to convince them not to take me in, it had been an accident. They finally let me go, after one of them repeatedly told me how close he had come to shooting me in the head; those were his exact words; but they took my airsoft gun....Anyway this story reminded me of that.

It was stupid of the parent to not teach their kid about guns, not to load the gun. What use is an unloaded gun? Personally I keep all my guns loaded but when I have kids that'll be one of the first things I teach them when they're old enough.

Uhm. That has nothing to do with the law system. Get less uptight neighbors, who are educated on all types of toy guns, I guess.

I remember one time I was handing out free bags of sugar in a back alley. And the cops like, TOTALLY busted me on it for some reason! I mean, what the hell!?

Back on topic, the law system in your neighborhood is fantastic for such quick response. How were the police supposed to know that the "guns" you were using were brightly colored toys anyways?

If you should be mad at anyone, it should be the idiot that made a toy gun with a real shot gun barrel. You are lucky though, if that had been me I would have gotten fucked by the cops, the cops in my town HATE my family, literally follow us when we drive to try to find something they can get us on. All because this one cop was a jackass and totally disrespectful to my parents, who did nothing wrong and they reported him. Today we found out they actually put out a warrant out for my dads arrest for some stupid dog licensing thing that was taken care of over a year ago. The police chief, even after being proven wrong about the fact that there was a "problem", refused to lift the warrant even though he has the power to, because they hate us. I would have gotten fucked over big time.
Sorry about my little rant there guys, but seriously, be mad at the friend more than anyone.

The only reason you can have a gun here is for hunting, you cant buy a gun to protect yourself here, so there isnt actually any use in having it loaded, you could argue that when someone breaks in its better to have a loaded gun in your house and kill him before he kills you, but frankly, there hasnt ever been a break in resulting in death here.

And yeah, the parents were stupid too for not teaching the child about guns, but then again children are impulsive and often crack under peerpressure at an early age, so it isnt wise, even if you told your kid not to play with guns ever to have a loaded gun in your house where your children can reach it, and its just stupid of the parents too that the child was able to reach it, if you have a gun, you usually put it in places a child cant raech it.

Ah ok I apologize I didn't check to see where you were from and just assumed that your laws were the same as mine. And yeah, actually I only keep my handguns and shotgun loaded, the rifles that I use for hunting are kept unloaded.

But I completely agree, I keep my guns up on a shelf where little children couldn't reach, if one of my friends brings they're kids over, or something. When I have kids, as soon as they're old enough to reach the shelf is when they start learning about guns.

Yeah, I'm pretty pissed off at my friend right now. But, really, I think it was more of a "You need to be there" thing to see how much they over reacted.

Also, I take back most of which I said. Because an officer told me that along of gangs are making their guns look like toys with paint now.

Speaking of which, you should be pretty damn thankful you're not living in New York City. There have been a good number of cases in NYC were cops have shot people who appeared to have been reaching for a "gun" when all they were doing is getting their wallet or beeper. For example: Amadou Diallo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amadou_Diallo)

I can't believe you retards agree that the police shouldn't have walked up to them with guns in hand. They get a call saying that a couple of suspicious kids are playing with guns in an alleyway, what the fuck do you think they should do? Should they leave their guns in the car and approach the suspicious teenagers who are potentially armed? Goddamn you guys are stupid as shit.

Some cop stopped us in the middle of the night, he asked for license and registration, neither of us had one so the cop said that he would let us go under one condition; That's when he asked for a Coffee. Is it clear now?

They didn't have a driving license (I hope they just didn't have one on them and they weren't joyriding, because then they would be fucking idiots)
And a cop pulled them over, they bought him a coffee and they let him go. It wasn't too hard to understand, really.
