City of Heroes/Villains [Archive]

So I've quit WoW, because, simply, the game bores the hell out of me, and I'm looking for a good new MMO to try out. I've been looking at City of Heroes and City of Villains, but I don't know anyone who's played them, so I was hoping to get a bit of perspective.

No need to get nasty, I was just pointing you in the direction of a game that's going to be far superior to any crap you play now. But then again you did play WoW, so crap is a level of standard you're used to putting up with I suppose.

I'm thinking about getting this. The Good vs Evil edition is only thirty bucks, and it comes with the first month of play. Is there still a big community for it?

City of Heroes/Villains rocks. I am currently playing it, and have been since 2004. But I'm quite slow on reactivating it. Its a really fun game, and I play on the Justice server.

Matt, there is a quite big community on the forums at www.coh.com.

But I definitley suggest this game if you are bored of the wizard and dragon kinda games that are everywhere. Plus comic book fans will have a nerdgasm.

I started this game back in 2004, and played it for about 2 years, I quit when I became a level 50 warshade, and got most of the harder to get badges. I've been meaning to start up again, but my current computer Isn't compatible with online games.

If I still had internet at home I'd play this non-stop, still, after getting it a month after launch almost 4 years ago now. Best community and players out of any MMO I've played, by far.

Well, I bought it. I have a level 3 Technology Blaster on the Justice Server. His name is Space Pickle.

Also, I had to go out and buy an extra time card in order to activate the "included first month of play" described on the box. As if that wasn't retarded enough, EB only had 60-day time cards, not 30-day ones. I've now spent eighty bucks on this game and I haven't even played it enough to form a valid opinion.

Because then they don't make money, can't contantly update the game and it eventually dies out because nothing fresh is being added. With city of heroes you get atleast three huge free updates a year plus any number of smaller ones through out.

Me and Shagg play on the Justice server. I have two heroes at levels 4 and 2, and a villain at level 4. I actually leveled up way faster on my villain than on my first hero, but it was probably a fluke.

Here are my characters:
Space Pickle (Hero) - Blaster, Technology
Lily Anderson (Villain) - Brute, Mutation
Judge Fudge (Hero) - Tanker, Technology

But yeah, Justice Server is good. Its got a fairly good PvP community, and lots of Supergroups, and groups to collect badges. Wise choice, personally.

You can get anyone who has the game to send you a 14 day trial. Everyone has like 5 I think that renew once they run out.

I was thinking of getting this game, but a while after I get my new computer because i'll be out of money after i get this new comp.

I'm deciding if I should get just Villains and save upwards from 10 bucks, or get Good vs Evil edition, and get to play 2 games for 30 bucks.

Yeah, I bought Good vs Evil. You get a little jetpack ability for every character you make, plus an ability that teleports you to a place called Pocket D.

Although, I'm having way more fun making characters than actually playing the game and levelling.

Alright I bought this game a couple days ago thinking i was gonna get a month free but fuck same thing happened to me that happened to matt so I had to go buy one of those time cards. I just finished the tutorial and i'm on the justice server. I think my handle is @Mesonoxian or something like that. Shagg, Matt, and Trashcat do you still play?

Well my version of City of Heroes/Villains came with a paper with a code for a free 14 day trial. Though I think its only for one use. If you want it sarge just PM me I guess.

EDIT: After browsing the PlayNC account page thingy, I can't find any trial codes or anything. Far and company say they exist, though, so ask those guys up there. ^

Well, I finally went off and got the game. Seems as soon as I got it this thread went dead almost. I'm still looking for people to play, so I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled on this topic.

I just subscribed again for the next three months so that I could play with the never villain epics that will come out with issue 12. So if anyone wants to play just give me a shout.
