Yes, I know there's already a Super Mario Galaxy topic, but that one was a bit short. I've made a full review.

In short: Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best, if not the best, games I have ever played. For many, including me, it's the reason why they now have a Wii.
An absolute :heya::heya::heya::heya::heya:.
It was released on 16 november 2007, I got it on 5 december 2007, together with a Wii.

The review
The story
The story is more or less the same as every Mario game, princess Peach gets abducted by Bowser and Mario has to save her. This time Bowser tries to become the king of the universe by gathering all the Power Stars. Mario has to get these Power Stars back. They are scattered all over the universe, landing on little planets. When Mario has gathered all Power Stars, which fuel a huge spaceship called 'The Observatory', he can travel to the center of the universe, to save his 'Special one'.

Graphics
This game easily has the best graphics on the Wii. Everything looks smooth and is well animated. There are a few flaws, but they are almost never encountered. There's a lot of color and happiness in the galaxies, making it fun to play.

Gameplay
The most important of all. The gameplay is absolutely great. You use the A-button to jump, the B-button to shoot starbits and you shake the remote to do a spin-attack, which is the main attack in the game. The spin-attack is used for many purposes: Flick switches, break crystals and most importantly, kill enemies. You flip them on their back with a spin-attack, then run in them to kick them to their ancestors. It's perfectly balanced.

Then there's the cursor. It's a small star, with which you can pick up starbits by pointing at them and shoot those starbits back to the planet, to stun enemies. It's a nice concept, which forces you to pick up as many starbits as possible. The thing is, you need those starbits to get bonusgalaxies, so you don't want to use too many to stun enemies.

The camera is sometimes a bit annoying, there are times when you can't see where you're jumping. This hasn't occurred many times to me. Usually, the camera knows what you want to see.

A great thing about this game is the gravity of the planets. Each level you play, called galaxies, have a number of planets you travel between. They all have their own gravity. You'll find a lot of times that you're upside-down, running over the edge of a flat planet, only to stand on the downside. First it's a strange feeling, but you'll get used to it and you'll love it.

Another nice thing are transformations of Mario. There are a few galaxies in which you will transform into Bee Mario, Boo Mario, Fire Mario and Mario that flies for some reason. It's a nice touch.

Sound
The sounds are good. The remotespeaker isn't used much, which is good since it sounds like a tin can. The soundtrack is nice, the effects are also good.

Multiplayer
There is a twoplayermode. And it's not really good. The first remote (with a nunchuk) controls Mario, jumping and spinning and running. The second one controls the cursor, which can pick up starbits and shoot stars. It's not really useful, nor is it fun. The first player can control Mario and the cursor at the same time without any problems in singleplayer, so it seems a bit useless.
It would've been great if the second remote would be Luigi or something. Ah well, the singleplayer is good enough.

Other things that are worth mentioning
You'll see a lot of characters you know from earlier Mariogames, such as Luigi, a lot of Toads and of course a lot of different Goomba's (Those brown mushroomthings). Not only known characters can be spotted in this game, there are also known locations. For example, there's a Haunted Mansion galaxy (from Luigi's Mansion).

I've probably forgotten some things, so I'll edit the review when I think of them. Take care for now.

EDIT: Yup. Changed it.

I don't even like most Mario games but holy crap. If you own a Wii and you don't have this game, then what the hell?
I got it the day it came out (For £20. Fuck yeah) and I've got 70/120 stars. This is one hard game. You'll want to keep playing it though because it just doesn't stop surprising you. Like there's one part where you're ontop of this ball- You use the remote as an arcade joystick, like in mid-air. I've never played a game like that.

Now, there is the same tired storyline and some new characters you honestly won't give a shit about, but that's basically the only bad part. OH WAIT- No there is one more bad part: Every time you turn on the game it shouts SOOOOOPUR MARIOOOOO GALAXEEEEEEE!!!! and there's no way to avoid that. Also, some of these stars seem impossible to get. For it's few shortcomings though, the fantasticly creative levels and achievement you get for doing them makes it a legend of a game.

It's not the greatest game in the world, but it's without a shadow of a doubt the greatest game on the Wii.

It's really innovative for a Wii game. I got it the day it came out and still can't get enough.
