Anyone Plan to Watch American Gladiators?

I used to love this show when it was originally on in the 90s. There is just something about steroid fueled body builders in spandex that just really turns my crank. Anyway, NBC has decided to "redo" the series with Hulk Hogan hosting. I'm looking forward to this and hoping they in the least keep "Assault" in the show, but who knows?

I saw a commercial for this awhile back, I used to love it when I was a kid, and I still watch the old episodes on ESPN classic. I'll give the new one a chance, I just hope they don't shit it up and ruin it with adding a bunch of new games that are retarded, stick with what already worked.

I'm not familiar with the original show, so the preview struck me as being over-bearingly cheesy.

Plus I can't stand Hulk Hogan, so I'm guessing that this show is a "No" for me.

I heard about this and pissed myself. Mainly because I remember a couple months ago my mom, step-dad, and I were watching t.v. and one of them were flipping through the channels. Well, I seen American gladiators on and demanded for them to stop. We ended up wtching the cheesy shit for a good while. It was so silly, but great. I used to watch it all the time when I was younger(or whne I seen it on), and I just couldn't stop laughing.

I'm sure the new season will be cheesy and wahtnot as before, but great none-the-less. Oh and Hulk Hogan is hosting? I didn't know that. It just makes the new season sound even more awesome.

I think those uptight hosts they had before kinda belong to the show also. Hogan would fit better as a gladiator (like the boss at the end of the eliminator or something), yet that would be a clear step down the ladder I guess.

I'll give it a chance if they draw blood in the new episodes.
And if they plan on having Hulk Hogan as part of the team, they should have Brooke run around on the show in some hooker outfits.

They're bringing this back in Oz as well, and one of my mates who fancies himself a bodybuilder tried out for a gladatorial position. He ended up with a cracked rib, so it's not just mock violence.

I'll definitely be watching this, when I was a kid I used to pretend to be sick so I could stay home from church and watch it.

I watched the show last night. I thought it was pretty good, except the first group of contenders were fucking retarded, especially the first two chics. Also, I really wanted the marine girl in the second group to win, too bad she hit her head.

As for the new gladiators? I dig them for the most part with a couple exceptions. That wolfman is incredibly annoying, I wanted to bash my head against a wall everytime he howled.

Well, I didn't watch too much of it last night, but I saw the black girl and the asian girl go through the eliminator. I can't believe the asian girl was almost dead after the cargo net climb, and halfway behind the black girl, and she STILL won because the other girl kept slipping on the travelator.

Also, I plan on watching it more now that I know Assault is back. Best game ever?

I thought the show was great. It was totally over the top, cheesy goodness. I did learn since making this thread that the gladiator Militia used to be a gay porn star. (http://bumpshack.com/2007/12/18/american-gladiator-elian-cortez-former-gay-porn-star/) I agree that the second bunch of competitors was better than the first though, and the marine girl finishing with a face full of blood was just awesome. Not to mention the fact that they kept assault! Hogan was ok as a host, I kinda like the co host gal cause she's got a lot of sassy street attitude. The gladiators were pretty awesome too, I like wolf cause he has the baddest facial hair. I could do without him howling every 30 seconds though.

Watched it last night. Jesus Christ, it's comical how badly scripted some of the lines are. At least when the guys were talking it sounded somewhat more realistic but as soon as one of the female competitors turn came she sounded like she was reading right out of a crappy book.

Wolf was by far my favorite gladiator. My buddy and I were sitting there calmly watching it when suddenly this guy comes out with crazy hair and a crazier beard and starts howling. We burst out laughing and enjoyed the fuck out of the rest of the show.

I only watched that part too, but I shut it off because the whole thing was obnoxiously scripted.
