The Beatsteaks from Berlin are easily one of the most talented bands in Europe right now, definatly the most talented in Germany. You would most likely call them punkrock, but that doesn't quite sum it up, as punkrock is after all a very repetitive genre, and they do have an absolutly unique style. I know this phrase is worn out, but I never heard anything quite like that band, and that makes it hard to find bands you might compare them with. So, I recommend you take the time and check them out yourself, definitly worth it.

Let me in live @ Rock am Ring (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs0LvyuiqjM)
Most of all, they are an exquisite live band. They've been to the USA twice I think, at the Deconstruction and at the Warped Tour, but that was a couple of years ago.
They also have a small European tour coming up, look up their tourdates, if they play anywhere near you, feel obligated to check them out, they are just one big fucking earth quake on stage.
They've been around for some 12 years now, while starting as a (pretty bad) hardcore band, they've develloped into a kickass underground punkrock band and (kind of accidently) reached mainstream succes in Germany about 4 years ago. They play in front of 10000s of people at festivals (at the video above it's actually about 70000), and I think they'd only deserve to see that kind of succes outside of Germany, too. So, yeah, check out some of the stuff I provided for you and tell me what you think about it.
PS:
Trivia: 2 of their songs have appeared on a Viva La Bam episode. You also might have also stummbeld accros them if you own some Epitath-Samplers.
