Holy shit. I just read a preview of it and man, this game is awesome.
Unlike the previous Far Cry, it will now be settled in Africa. There's no more mutants stuff. The physics in this game will be awesome. There's a real weather system and shit. The graphics will be awesome aswel. You can roam around in a huge world of about 50 sq km. There's a 24 hour day system, and say, if you want to do a mission at lunch time or in the night, you can just wait. Really, read (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/farcry2/news.html?sid=6177348&om_act=convert&om_clk=newsfeatures&tag=newsfeatures;title;1)and see (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/103158.html) it yourself because it's too awesome for words.

Holy fucking christ this looks amazing. The first one wasn't half bad for PC, and now they just improved all the bad things about it. By the looks of thing this game is going to be one hell of a title. I'll be buying it for PC that's for sure.

I thought the first one sucked, any idea what type of Spec a computer has to be to run that?

The Gamespot article says:
The demo we saw was running on what was described as a high-end dual-core system with a GeForce 8800, which is admittedly a beefy PC, but also one that you can actually buy at retail right now. The final specs next spring, however, will be more modest; a fast single-core CPU and a high-end DirectX 9 card will purportedly do the job. The team is weighing the value of adding DirectX 10 features; it's likely those with DX10 support will enjoy a combination of improved performance and some slight visual upgrades.
It will also be available for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Its a pretty fun game series, from what I've played. Just not a fan of the lack of realism. It was something about dual wielding .50 Desert Eagles that kinda through me off of it, but still, this game may be worth renting.

It's realistic as fuck now, fyi.

Yeah apparently if you don't clean your wounds with medicine or a bandage you can get a disease...

Yeah and if you get hurt badly you have to pull out the bullets out of your body, or put your arm back into the right position etc..

Holy fuck, this game sounds like the Crysis for the new year.
The whole deal of the NPC coming in and saving your life instead of standing around or bumping into walls struck me as incredibly impressive.
It almost sounds like what S.T.A.L.K.E.R tried and failed to do, only on a grander scale.

There's no way I'm not getting this. I'll just quote one of the gamespot comments:

Dynamic AI? Weather based on atmospheric conditions? No loading screens? This has the potential of being the best FPS ever. I can't wait!

Looks absolutely incredible. People were just getting over Crysis not too long ago, and now this!? And in Spring 2008?? :aaa:

I saw a thing about this on the Space network a few months ago and it took my breath away. I need to get a better video card if I want to play it, though.
Also heard the full out game is actually too big for the 360 or the PS3 to run, since it's just so damn beefy.

This looks to be absolutely awesome. I've loved the Far Cry series, and I'm hoping maybe this one will have the same style map editor that Far Cry Instincts had, only with much more capability. That was one of my favorite parts of the game, was creating maps to play with friends on.

Assassin

Map creating will be in the game.

This game looks so fucking awesome, map creating is there too? Shit, I remember how long it took to make maps but it was fucking sweet. When is this coming out? I know in spring, but does anybody know the date?

Fuck me up the wall this game looks beautiful. I might have to save up a bit more cash to be able to by a better spec PC than I was gonna just so I can experience it in this true glory.

I like this whole AI system they've got going. The idea that your every choice will actually have that much impact on a game is astounding, I just hope they pull off its full potential and don't start cutting out bits which make it such a revolutionary game.

I hope that the AI isn't necessarily hard, but is realistic. They say it's 'aggressive', but that better not mean that the moment you fire a bullet at 500 yards the enemy will instantly charge towards your exact location. The gunboats in Crysis kind of pissed me off because of that.

Can't wait for the mapmaking. And I'm happy because it looks like my PC will run this just fine.

i can't wait to dig out a bullet from my leg with my bigass rambo knife in the middle of a fire fight! fuck yeah! i was really disappointed with crysis, so if this isnt good im gunna shoot someone :D

If the mapmaking is there, that alone would have been enough to sell me. Fuck Halo's "Forge" or Valve's "Hammer Editor", Far Cry's map editor was one of the most user friendly and also detailed editors I've ever used. It was actually FUN making a map on Far Cry, but also didn't take you 40 fucking years to get one that was playable. Plus, not many map editors allow actual terraforming out there. All these new features are just icing on the cake to me.. I want to make a new fucking Far Cry map!

That demo video looked amazing. The realism, in the graphics and the physics (like the fire and stuff), definitley make this game worth it. I'm not sure how this could disapoint.

I hope the re-instate the Hawaiian shirt.

Also, if the AI is anything like Crysis then I will be slightly disappointed. Crysis' AI was smart but had some glitches here and there and could spot you from miles away. I hope stealth can be used easily in this game.

Wow, I remember loving farcry instincts, and, I get the feeling that I'll love this one just as much. There's only one thing that troubles me; Predator. That game type was always fun, and most people played it. I just hope that it's in this installment.

Man, the way you heal yourself by pulling out bullets/ snapping bones etc. almost temps me to get this but I only have enough money for one game and I'm afraid that's Fallout 3.

"Prolly" but... I don't know.
I think ps3 let me down very bad...
It broke and now I have to buy another one witch mean play the games again, wich mean my 36 level on COD4 has to be regained and..ugh.
I just think ps3 doesn't deserve it, I think it has to regain my confidence again until I buy it another game again.
Thanks for trying any way. 'precciate it.

So far it is fucking awesome, my only gripe is that enemies take WAY and I mean WAY too many hits before they die. If you don't get a head shot they will just get right back up. I show a guy about 7 times and he still got up and returned fire.

There is also an "OGC" reference right in the beginning of the game which is hilarious.

Just bought it today. It's pretty fun, but so far I'm getting annoyed with how jumpy the camera is. It's not a matter of sensitivity, either. It just moves slowly then leaps in whichever direction you want it to go. I guess I'll get used to it, but whatever.

Like Soda, I agree that it's unrealistic. I'm not used to having to empty an entire clip on enemies, but I guess Farcry decided not to take that step into realism that 360 games seem to have done.

Got it for PC via Steam yesterday (Steam, incidentally is fantastic, you can legally download a 4 or so gb game unmetered in half an hour for half the retail price). It's pretty fun, sort of like GTA: Africa, but it's got a few annoyances. The ambushes by soldiers while you're driving are annoying and feel like they're only there to artificially extend the length. I don't hate them, but less often would be better, I think.

It also doesn't seem to be able to decide if it's realistic or not. You have to clean your wounds and whatnot, but as Soad said, the enemies take too much to die, and cars are indestructible as long as you turn a little screw in the engine 5 times. Gun degradation is interesting, but seems overpowered, and it's annoying that no guns you pick up aren't fucked.

That said, it is fun, it looks and runs great, and the fire's probably the best in a game. None of the annoyances are game-breaking, so I would recommend it.

It's pretty awesome, been playing it for a few hours. It's pretty realistic and I like the malaria theme going through the game. Theres a good variety of weapons, lots of quests, lots to discover.
Graphics are really good. Voice acting great. Lots and lots of gameplay and it doesn't take ages to load when entering rooms or something, its really fast and slick.
Edit: Although It really takes way too much to take down an opponent. And I'm playing on the hardest difficulty.

This is an excellent game the only annoying thing is the game play gets quite repetitive.

I bought it the day it came out and traded it in today. It didn't grab me in the first few hours like games are supposed to and I ended up never touching it again.

I'm not enjoying it so far. It seems like everything they promised ended up falling into a big pile that doesn't form anything cohesive. The story-line isn't engaging and the game-play is generic and uncreative. I drive, then I shoot. I drive, then I shoot. At least with a free roam game like GTA, you can do things other than drive around a desert.

Played it for few hours and it's good. Not the best game ever but definitetly worth of trying.
