Fisticuffs would look clearer if the fist was seperate from the body, silhouette wise. Either that, or you use other methods of drawing to make the fist stand out as being 'closer' than the rest of the body, rather than either area having the same amount of detail. Or you do both!

Yeah, I kinda realised after I finished drawing it that I should have had the paw away from the body in the image.

But the suggestion of adding more detail to the 'closer' parts is good. I might try that. So adding things like knuckles and shading?

Uh... Serious drawings? I've done some before, but they're not what you would call "Extremely Badass". I don't know, I guess it's just the whole colouring process and my outlines that make my 'serious' drawings look funny.

I guess I could give it another go in Photoshop or something. But then again, I don't think I've had enough practice in that area.

Listen to Rob; the only way you can get really good at something is to try something different. If you keep staying with the same style of art, sure you'll master it eventually, but you can expand yourself by trying new styles.

Drawing things that your not terribly good at generally improves your skills a lot faster than drawing the same sorts of things over and over, as well.

I've been drawing all my life, but i only got to a remotely respectable level about a year ago. That's because i stuck with drawing little characters on A4 in blank universes for over a decade and a half. When i moved onto bigger drawing spaces and real-life subjects/landscapes my drawing improved dramatically, especially those little characters i still draw from time to time.

Of course they weren't great. If you've never seriously tried them before, why would they be? Just keep at it, read up on anatomy, etc.

It's nothing really. But I haven't been drawing many small cartoons lately due to the fact that I've taken some advice from you guys and have started a larger project. I'm doing a Smash Bros wallpaper with various characters including some of the more life-like ones (e.g. Zelda and Sheik). I'd say it's turning out pretty good so far, even though there are some things being out of proportion. But things are being tweaked as I go.
