GunZ : The Duel

With the splitoff of the forums I thought I'd make a post about my favourite on-line time sinkhole lately.

GunZ is a fast, free, first person shooter played on ijji.com. I love the game, the only downside is the amount of hackers. There's some hack that's been out for a while now and still hasn't been patched (got it myself by now, useful for doing quests :x still annoying when used against you in pvp).

Anyhow, about the game. It's not a one-shot kill game like e.g. counterstrike, but it rolls a lot faster as well. There's several styles, whereof K-style (or Korean-style) is the most popular and widely used. I'm practicing it, but it's hard to learn :D
There's also a quest mode: it's not really quests, rather just killing monsters and collecting items, which may gain you some extra cash and access to fighting some bosses.

I absolutely despise this game so much. It has almost nothing good about it at all, the control is crap, the fighting is crap, and the gameplay is crap. I would not recommend this game to anyone.

If i play im usually in quest 3. I've been playin since september 06. It's a fun game. Too many gay hackers now. people who suck usually don't like the game >XD.

No, I didn't "suck" I played for about 5 minutes. Ran around and looks at the buildings which reminded me of the original Quake in terms of graphics. Went to kill something and thought yeah, this is fucking retarded.

I only got as far as watching some gameplay videos on Youtube. The majority of them (for the PVP duels) consist of each player crazily bouncing around while flailing their sword or spamming their firearm. I'm not going to say it looks 'easy', or that it 'doesn't require skill', but it sure doesn't look like fun to me. I'm not going to waste my time.

I honestly think the graphics and gameplay are *really* good for a free game. However, when you get to higher levels, better arms, and acquire more skill, I think you start to like it more. Well, that's how it was for me anyway.

I used to play, I was pretty good. I think I got to level 62 or something and I had loads of bounty and weapons. The game was pretty good, worth the download but it does get a little boring after a while.

I don't mind the hackers as long as they only do it in quests, really. Easiest way to acquire cool-looking weapons like the Lich wings, though they suck.

This game is fucking horrible, some kid told me to play it and I downloaded it. I played for abut 2 days before getting rid of it, the game sucks. People who enjoy it probably are too poor to afford actual good games.

The game started out fun, but then when I saw the fucking K-Stylers, I gave up.
I mean, Jesus Christ, its a game meant for blasting each other away, and here we have these crazy Koreans (my friend being one of them) exploiting flaws in the game play, therefore making it no fun at all.

Yes, if you look it up, K-Styling does uses exploits built into the game to make your character move faster or whatnot.

The fact you mentionned there's hackers everywhere probably doesn't help.

You can try Americas Army, or the free Wolfenstein they have out. Both of them are not too shabby FPS games that really hold their own for being free.

I used to play this. It was cool for the first few levels, and the whole "OH SHIT HOW DID I KILL YOU LIKE THAT?" was kinda fun.. but it became really lame. All it was were the people who had a shotgun and a sword and SOMEHOW did this gay trick where they could block and shot at the same time. And theres also other stupid styles that make it impossible for the normal player to have fun.

I have a friend who got extremely obsessed with this game, leveled up really high, thought he was really awesome, then became bored. The game's an extreme waste of time if you ask me, just like Runescape.

After retrying it, and determining IT SUCKS once again, I discovered this
1. Way too many hacker.
2. The shooting mechanics are WAY too loose, makes it nearly impossible to kill anyone
3. CRAP community, I got called a newb and a "sprayer" way too often
I really disliked it, but hey, if you want to play it, be my guest

2. Not quite, you'll see I kill people fairly easily if they're not experienced.
3. That's somewhat true, but I just talk to the people who are nice to me. The term "sprayer" is horribly overused. They say it to people who fire machine guns instead of shotguns. You'll find the higher levels don't care as much because someone with a machine gun has no chance against an experienced K-styler with two shotguns.

I'm not here to get all of you playing GunZ, but I like the game which is my own choice and there's no need to flame me for doing so. So GIRLSNEEDNOTAPPLY, spare me your particularly useless comments and give me some examples of what are good shooters in your opinion if you think cs sucks.

I guess most of you haven't really played this game, and just played 5 min's. You missed out, the main point of this game isn't a fps, but actually on swords. The idea is that somthing that used to be a bug in the game was left in, so in fact you can cancel jumps ect with sword slashes and basically reppetiivly climb walls. This is knows as K-style, and contains many tricks like one said higher where you switch from shotgun and sword so you defend and cancel shotgun animation leading to faster shooting.

To play a game, you have to like it, atleast a little. People playing Runescape are also having fun, and like the game. Having fun and entertaining yourself can not be a waste of time in my opinion.

Also you can't just blame your lack of kills on the shooting mechanics. If that would be the case, noone would get many kills, but if there are still people killing you, you're just playing the game wrong.

This kid I know is OBSESSED! with that game. He made me play once and he killed me every time. He told me to put on really good stuff or whatever so i wouldnt die fast, so I dressed up like a soccer player and he got mad :] But the game was really dumb to me. Although the graphics and such were really good. Its just ick to me.

The hack (darx dll.dll) + injector are fairly easy to get. I'm not on any forums whatsoever but about 20 minutes of surfing got me the download.

I didn't like it at all, because I like games where people die when you shoot them. Sure I got some kills and bought some guns, but when you shoot a guy point blank right in the head like 60 times and he turns around and kills you with 2 shots just because he's a higher level and has nicer armor, that's just not for me. Plus the hackers etc.

If you only just start up you can go in channels where only level 1-5 can enter (and no one with a character on that login name over level 20).

But yea, as I said, hackers are annoying.

I tried to play this game, GunZ. But i had read reviews and seen videos, which presented this game to be rather constant and repetitive in its gameplay. The fact that its free is kind of cool, but in the long run this game sucks. Maney people have learned how to hack into it. The only reason I'd play this game is if... I'd never play this game.
