View Full Version : Finally beat Mass Effect
I was looking for the old thread to the game, but I couldn't find it. Oh well.
Anyway, its been a couple of months since I had played it, because I think I died, got pissed and stopped playing it. Well, the otehr day, I popped it back in my 360 and started playing it again. Man, such a great game.
For those who played it what do you think of the ending? I thought it was good, but one hell of a fucking cliff hanger I'll tell you that. Does it make you think there's going to be a sequel to the game? I somewhat think so.
Also, did you all complete the romantic subplot(s) at all? I did with Liara, and it was quite strange watching them two screw. Especially since she's well, an alien or whatever, and he's human. Plus after it was over it was a little cheesy. She says, "You were great", and you can reply with, "no, you were great!". What's even more odd is the fact when its over, Shepard is instantly sitting on a table with all his closes on, and she stands up or whatever and is nude. I'm like, "how the hell did he get his clothes on that fast?".
Oh and when it got to the point in the game for one of the characters to be killed, (Kaiden or Ashley), who did you choose? I chose to get Ashley, but I felt that maybe I'd get to rescue Kaiden anyway, but turns out I was wrong.
Now, the final fight with Saren. It didn't go as I planned. For me, I had pursuaded him to realize the errors of his ways and in turn he killed himself. I was like, "Well, thats fucked up. Now I don't ahve to fight him." But I thought it to good to be true. But when Sovereign possess him turning him into a machine/turian hybrid, I was like, "holy shit".
I thought it was a good twist on it all.
So, after my long spill, what did you all think?
EDIT: I forgot to end the spoiler tag. Sorry if I ruined anything for anyone.

The ending was nice. But I still felt like it missed something. Like there's more to the story that could've been told. The game itself is very short. But that's good seeing as how if you're an Achievement whore, you'll need to replay through. (and maybe get a different ending.)
The graphics are nicely done, but not nothing too new. The game is very glitchy in some spots. The Mako is just the coolest piece of 'military' hardware ever created.
The final fight for me, felt dull. Sure the interuptful cutscenes made it epic, but as for the fight, it didn't feel like I accomplished much.
As for a Sequel, I think we will see one. But I hope they put 5 times as much work as they did into the first one. Because this game could've been so much more.
and damn you to hell! I want the Liara backstory!
Actually, there is going to be a sequel. There's also going to be a book which is to take place between the first game and the second game. I feel the same about the final fight, it was somewhat, "blah", but maybe that was my difficulty. Though, I don't recall what I played it on.

When Cutscenes come up he generates shields and ends up jumping around again. It's tough getting through shields, but he had relatively weak health.
There are going to be at least two sequels.
The first time that I played through I did the romance subplot with Liara and then I accidently did it with her again the second time as well.
I let Kaidan die both times because I hated him.
First time I played through I let Wrex live, second time I killed him.
I liked both the length and the ending, probably because I know there are going to be more games. The frist time I played through I was good and did all the side quests I could and it ended up being about 30 hours. Second time I came just short of the end before I had to return it and I was at about 11 hours in.

I don't know how to keep Wrex from dying, even though I don't use him, I'd like to know.
My first run was about 9 Hours. I am on my second run, (playing with the same character type, but not reusing the same one, so I'll have to choose another type and play with them too) anyway, I did some lurking around the Citadel and found out a few...very random side quests. On my first run I basically just did the story-line and that's it.

I have yet to get this game because I don't have the money, but I have to ask, is it worth the $60 I'll blow to buy it once I get said money? I've heard from a few people that it's not nearly as open-ended or fun as they thought it would be, but I've also heard from a few people that it's probably the best game for the 360 right now. I'm conflicted, and I don't want to spend my money on something mediocre.

If you want to save some dough and can wait, I'd say go for waiting awhile or try to get a used copy for about 10 bucks cheaper. I don't think the full price is worth it myself. But it's still a nice game even though it's not what I expected.
Think of it as Oblivion meets Star Wars.

It's good, plus once beaten you unlock harder difficulties and cna carry over your character from the previous times you played with all your equipment and stats and continue to level up again.

I thought it was excellent. I actually dropped Assassin's Creed in the middle of the very last level of AC to play Mass Effect and didn't look back until I had completed Mass Effect.
I ended up killing Kaidan too, since I was hoping to complete the romantic plot with Ashley. However; I fucked up somewhere along the line and ended up getting it on with Liara, even though I didn't really want to. I also saved Wrex, which was cool because I liked him the most of my squaddies.
I really love the game. I like the whole universe they've created, and the atmosphere in the game itself, I really like the Citadel. And, all of those cool little side-quests on random planets that actually refer back to your own background depending on what you chose etc when creating your character. I completed all of the side quests and main quest (with the exception of the gay "collect 15 medallion" things) - my favourite side missions were the ones where you had to board abandoned space ships.
Overall excellent game, a definite must-buy and 9.5/10. Only thing that brings it down for me is the brevity of it, graphics are great (I don't know why people always say they're not that good) and voice acting is even better.
Oh and there's definitely a sequel, there has to be after that ending.
I think its a must buy too. And I think people complain about the graphics because sometiems they don't render right off hand, but when they do render completely they're great.

Sometimes the rendering does get a little funky. But I think it finishes before anything important happens. (Saren sure is ugly un-rendered though.)

You have to either have a pretty high skill set in intimidate or the paragon version of that(can't remember what it's called) and then you get extra options in conversations.

Ah. I didn't get those till later. Which made things a lot easier for me actually. I love the Intimidate Options.

Am I the only one who successfuly got my bone on with Ashley? I chose to kill Kaidan but keep Wrex.
EDIT: Fuck you chichi I didn't notice this was a big bump thread.
