I downloaded the demo of this game and it was really dissapointing. The graphics are good, but i really do not like the gameplay. For me this game is a complete letdown for me because i was anticipating its release for a long time. I really do suggest that you download the demo of this before you actually go and buy it.
Has anybody else downloaded or purchased this game? If so please tell what you thought of it.

I played the demo too a while ago and it looked kind of mediocre to me. It wasn't fun.

I played it at a friends house and I thought it was pretty good. It's not like the last game at all, you can't check traffic and there's no multiplayer. I still thought it was pretty fun and the crashes and graphics are unbelievably awesome. I'm probably going to this game buy.

Needs more of Burnout 3 Takedown feel to it, I'd love it then.

Still pretty cool though. But I guess not as good as it's older Burnout titles.

I've always described Paradise as Need for Speed in the day.
The main tragic flaw about this game is the lack of Retry in the start menu. I found this very frustrating to play. For example if I was to crash at the first corner, and then again at the second, I've been condemned to not win the race. Therefore I need to start it again. However I can't because theres no function, I have to actually complete the whole race, and then to add insult to injury I've got to drive from the finishing line all the way back to the starting line. The developers addressed this in an interview which can be pretty much summed up as "I can hear all you frustrated gamers saying you don't like it, but its not going to change, we're right and you're wrong"

Actually there is multiplayer...they made a big deal about their multiplayer this year. But I agree with you Hickabod, the fact you have to drive all the way back to the stoplight for that race again was pretty frustrating. I was really excited about it and I saw it at Best Buy yesterday, but I'm not going to pick it up.

And another thing, I couldn't figure out if theres a marker function for the mini map. Does anyone know if you can set a marker for certain destinations, such as race starting positions, because I keep getting lost and even more frustrated that I keep having to pause the game to find out I'm headed in the wrong direction to the start of the race!

Burnout has lost its way, badly, I think Burnout: Legends is the way they should have gone

That's not true. You can just stop, and sit idling for about 5 seconds, then the event will cancel. It IS kinda annoying having to drive back to the start point to redo something, but oh well.

I rented this game 3 days ago, and I've been playing it absolutely nonstop. I think it's a frickin' awesome game. Not perfect by any means, but pretty damn good. I like the sandbox play style a lot. If you feel just like cruising around for fun, do that, and if you want to do some events, hey, do that too. No menus, no load screens.

Showtime mode is kind of odd though. I'm not sure if I like it or the huge crash mode (I forgot what it's called) from the older Burnout games better. Meh, either way, this game is well worth playing. I'm not even a racing game fan, but I've always liked the Burnout games.

I bought it, but haven't played it yet.
I just assumed it would be awesome because I loved both Burnout 3's.
I'm glad they took out being able to run over traffic (didn't they?). I like dodging traffic (3) better than plowing through it (3 takedown).

I think you're getting a little confused here, the only Burnout in which you could Traffic Check is Burnout Revenge, not Burnout 3: Takedown, I don't know about Burnout Dominator though. And, to answer your question, yes, you have to actually dodge the traffic in Burnout Paradise

After reading this thread I'm definitelynot buying it. Having to drive back to a arce start point if you lose? Feck off, that'd piss me off to no end.

I like being able to drive around the city. I love the free driving and online play. (Though, Online could be better.)

Oh yeah. I never owned burnout 3... I meant takedown and revenge.

Burnout 3 is Burnout: Takedown

There is:
Burnout (PS2/GCN/XBOX)
Burnout 2: Point of Impact (PS2/GCN/XBOX)
Burnout 3: Takedown (PS2/GCN/XBOX)
Burnout: Legends (PSP/DS)
Burnout: Revenge (PS2, XBOX, 360)
Burnout: Dominator (PS2, PSP)
Burnout Paradise (PS3, 360)

Yeah, so it turns out this game is not very good.

It's annoying that you have to pause and look at the map all the time.
It's annoying that when you drive way up into the hills, you have to come all the way back because there are so few races around.
Shortcuts generally do more harm than good.
Crash mode is really lame.
The races are really repetitive.

Hunting down new cars and road rage are pretty sweet though.

Pretty disappointed!

To be honest, I really enjoyed it ( the demo ; I don't have the full game ).

But maybe it's because it's my first Burnout game I ever play.
STILL it's awesome.

I simply love the slow motion when you ram head on into a barrier. It's like watching those Crash Tests Videos.

Really? I got sick of watching my crash about 5 minutes in. It just kinda rubs it in your face. It's like "Ha! You fucked up! Now I'm gonna make you watch it reaaaaallllyyyy sloowwwww. Meanwhile, all the other guys you're racing are flying by and you can't do shit!"

That was my main annoyance about this game. Having to watch your damn crash.

Hm, I suppose. Maybe if you drove better you wouldn't hit the wall.

Yeah that annoyed me too.
I don't like the slow-mo, or the different camera angles.
Same for doing "super jumps". Every time you do a huge jump, it goes to some stupid camera angle and goes to slo-mo and then shows the same scene a couple of times like in a cheesy action movie. It makes the jumps seem not as super.

i bought the game about 5 days ago, so far iv played it twice and its horrible... the graphics arn't bad just the mode of the game is horrible, seems like they tried to copy other games like need for speed and combine it into the burnout style

true. I'm a pretty decent driver in that game, actually. Most of the times I crashed was when I was in a race and all of a sudden we came to a T-intersection that I was not prepared for. Can you say "hitting a wall head-on at about 150 mph"?

Alright, I think this deserves a bump, considering the bike pack comes out thursday. I love this game, my friends love this game. I don't understand why everybody here says it is terrible. They fixed the online through an update, smoother and more game types. I think the crashes are sweet, the graphics are good, and the play in really fun, controls are spot on, and the whole game just flows together.

So anyways, anybody else pshyced for the bike pack? Or is it just me and my friends who think burnout with bikes will be epic?

I might buy this now that its down to 30 bucks, and the bike pack is out. Aren't there to be like 2 more patches to add more stuff by years end?

There is a total of 3 patches before the end of the year. The first one added some more cars, smoother online, and more game modes. The next one that comes out tomorrow is releasing bikes and day/night. The last one adds another region onto the map called the island.

i thought the game was enjoyable. it's certainly one of the only car games I can find that's like it, so i'd buy it if i were you. but i also felt that the demo wasn't particularly enjoyable, but hey, that's just my opinion

I can't wait to get home myself, Burnout Paradise is probably one of my favorite driving games ever. I love to just drive around and chill on the map, trying to find the last gates and billboards.
So I can't wait to try out the bikes! ^.^

I am majorly disapointed with the bike crashes. The rider just dissapears and the bike falls over and skids for a little bit. But other thatn that the bikes are awesome. They feel fast handle great and night time is awesome.
