I recently got a 360 (Ho-rah) and, since I didn't have an xbox decided to check out some of the backwards compatible games. I got the ones that interested me or I had heard of, and wanted to know if you had any recommendations. (I am in the uk so the list might be different (http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm))
I already got XII, Halo 1 and 2, Ninja gaiden, red dead, true crime, fable, prince of persia and rainbow six 3. Thanks.

You'll definitely want to get Dead Rising, Saint's Row and Gears of War.

As for Backwards Compatibility. Screw it! I couldn't play Midnight Club 3...

I'm in the UK so I know these work, and are really worth picking up
Dead or Alive Ultimate, Conker: Live and Reloaded and The Punisher

If you got Halo 1 and 2, I think you'd want to see the end to the story. So I'd say get Halo 3. I'd also recommend Call of Duty 4, no reason for recommending it, you just have to play it for yourself.

Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 are great for online play, I hear that Bioshock is an awesome game for single player and Dead Rising gets pretty fun for single player.

Halo is a must, though.

I'm pretty sure he's asking for recommendations for Xbox games, not 360 games.

He's asking for games for the original Xbox not the Xbox 360

I'd recommend you the Splinter Cell series, The GTA series, FarCry Instincts and Star Wars: Battlefront 1 & 2

I'd say get Battlefront 2, but not 1, because 2 has all of the maps from 1, plus extras such as new playable characters. But yeah, even you aren't a big fan of Star Wars, BattleFront is an amazing game

Thanks for the recommendations, I'm interested in fahrenheight, Blinx, Oddworld: Munch's oddesey, Jade empire, red faction 2 and Jet set radio. Does anyone know if any of those are worthwhile? I know I'm going to get psychonauts (had it for ps2) and battlefront but bloody gamestation is sold out. Thanks for the recommendations!

Blinx is a fun and harmless, a little bit childish and frustrating sometimes though I'd give it a miss.
Farenheit is very entertaining, innoavtive and different and also available over XboxLive for download at 1,200 Microsoft points, but if you want a cheap thrill this isn't the game for that, its very psychological and story driven.
Jet Set Radio isn't too bad either, it's a very love-or-hate game, personally I think its awesome.

I can't say I've played the others you mentioned

So, already have Fable and Halo huh? Well, get Half-Life 2 obviously. While Halo is epic, Half-Life is more so. Also, the Star Wars Battlefront games are pretty fun. The Burnout racing games are fun as hell.

If you're going to get Half-Life 2 then it'd make much more sense to pick up a copy of The Orange Box so that it's in HD?

Secondly if you're going to get Burnout, don't bother with Burnout 1 or 2, they we're good back in their day, but Burnout 3 is the only one thats backwards compatible and worth getting (also on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 1,200 Microsoft points).

I used to own Blinx. That was one weird game. But I loved it.

Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee isn't that great. But I had to finish it, being an Oddworld Inhabitant fan.

Burnout Takedown looks nice on the Xbox.
