DMC4 got released today, and I know at least one of you is gonna get it soon. Since I need a little more cash before I go out and get it, can you tell me how it is? (No spoilers, please. If you must, put black tags over it.)

I played the demo, and it really rocked.
You know how I was ? Let me explain it in one really big word:

This was my first impression of the game, so yeah. It's pretty awesome.

If you're on the 360, there's a demo available on marketplace. I'm not a Hack 'n Slash/puzzle fan, but if you are, I think you'd like it.

I really wish my 360 worked. DMC1 and 3 kicked ass. I cannot wait to get it.

Also a demo on PSN if you have a PS3.

What the hell was wrong with Devil May Cry 2? =/

Just when you thought this party couldn't get any crazier.

I loved the first two games I thought they were really cool, never had a chance to play the third one though. I'll definitely get it the next time I go to Gibraltar so that it's in English at least. It's one of the games I've been looking forward to. God I love Dante.

Can't wait. Especially when I learned Johnny Yong Bosch will be doing the voice of Nero.

I'm planning on picking this up the week after it's released on PS3, anyone know whats so special about Limited Edition?

I just bought it, finished the first cutscene. I can tell I'm gonna love it. Even though I never played any of the other DMC games, I'll try Demon Hunter with automatic turned off....

From what I understand, it depends on where you live, actually. The US CE comes with a bonus dvd including the first four episodes of the Devil may cry anime, a soundtrack, digital artbook and some wallpapers. The European version only comes with a printed version of the artbook.

I got my copy of the game yesterday for the 360 and now I'm wondering if it's just much easier to pull off cool combos with the 360's controller or is it the game itself making it more accessible to us sausage-fingered types to play the game?

Yeah my Limited Edition I got for Kane and Lynch only had a printed artbook and the soundtrack (soundtrack is fucking awesome) so that's put me off getting Limited Editions from now on really.

Got DMC4 today - fucking excellent. Completed the first two missions and I've really enjoyed it. The graphics are amazing, and the cutscenes/cinematics although extremely cool and nice are very frequent and quite long long.

There's nothing cooler than slowly walking towards a marionette puppet while blasting it with Blue Rose - you look so damn badass honestly.

However; I can't remember shit from the first 3 DMC games so I'm off to read the storylines on Wiki.

Mine only came with a soundtrack and a funky box :wail:

Either way today I saw theres like £5 ($10) difference between the two versions, so I'll get the Special Edition, if only for the metal case.

The Metal Case is rather spiffing.

The metal case is pretty sweet. =3
Also, if you pick yours up at a specialty store, they might have some printed art books left.

A quick summary of DMC4
8.5/10
Pros
-Awesome cinematics/graphics
-Long cinematics
-Awesome gameplay
-2 very different characters
-Unlockables (Art, Bloody Palace mode, character/item bios, etc.)
-Just enough puzzles
-Interesting characters (Especially for a newcomer to DMC like me)
Cons
-Camera can be a bit irritating at times
-Recycled bosses and levels
-Mission 19 (I don't really understand why they even bothered with this shit)
-Guns are crap compared to swords
-Sound is irritating to me, but maybe not to some
-Length (Sort of goes along with the recycled bosses and levels)
I can't think of anything I left out. I can honestly say that despite the stupid way they designed the game, it still manages to be very, very fun. Worth the money, go buy it today.

Yeah DMC4 looked so good to me from the demo and trailers that I went out and bought DMC1 2 and 3. It's pretty hard to get used to the controls; I've never really had a game where you have to struggle to stay alive and you can't just jump in the fray and kill everyone all at once, you have to take them one at a time. From the reviews of all 4 games it seems to be that 2 is the most lacking, 4 ties with 1, and 3 is the most difficult (it's #2 on the top 10 hardest PS2 games). Overall to me it seems like Capcom made a very interesting series, at first play I thought it was way too difficult and that I'd never master it, but once you find your fighting style you can really rack up the combos and wreak havoc on all the demons. So I'll definitely be getting DMC4 for the 360 once I've played through the first 3, the series just seems so appealing.

It was hell for me to get the Special Edition, but I finally picked up a copy yesterday, if only I didn't suck so much at it.

Trust me, it can be frustrating at times. On the third level I had to retry the part where you get through the torture chamber and use the devil bringer with the correct timing to get to the next section

Is that the bit where there's a load of big gaps and you have to FWOOSH across em with the devil bringer? It just took me like half an hour trying to do that when I realised: It's not because I'm doing it wrong, it's because I need to upgrade my damn arm.

Seriously?

I did that on my second try :indiff:

I did have trouble figuring out where the fuck I had to go after I had defeated those floating sword/bird things and had to figure out how to get that bridge leading into the waterfall

Yeah I bought DMC4 the day it came out and I have to say it's pretty awesome. Demo does not do it justice at all.

I also enjoyed the rather tasty cut scene right before the castle... Hooray CGI girls!

Also, I get the feeling it's just me who thought the Pandora was bloody stupid.

You turn into a fucking bumper car for a couple seconds and just float about like an idiot while there's a load of rockets flying at all the enemies. What the hell? One minute I'm smashin fools left right and centre, then it's all JUST WAIT WHILE I TRANSFORM INTO A BIG IMOBILE METAL BLOCK.
