Thanks to a bunch of help from our new friend Dan, we've developed an official Cyanide and Happiness Facebook app (http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=8473036933). Put comics on your profile and send them to your friends as comments. It's just like Myspace, but without the suck.

If you browse the comics right here at Explosm, you'll see a little http://www.explosm.net/account/share/facebook.gif icon. Click that and you can choose to either put it on your profile page or save it to post in your friend's comments. Pretty slick!

Can you elaborate on this? I thought it was just one click and then you type in the friend's name.

I also want to point out that Chase's avatar basically sums up his entire attitude in that other thread where everyone was complaining.

2. Find the comic
3. Click the facebook button
3a. Sign in facebook if you're not.
4. Go to a friend's page on facebook
5. Find his wall and press the explosm button to post the comic.

It's kind of a pain because of all the pages you have to go threw just to post a comic on a friend's wall.

That's the same amount of work to post a comic or send a link or anything. Find the page, go to facebook and post. Done. You're making it seem a lot harder than it is.

You can post them in your profile. We don't want an automatically-updated more recent comic as an option. It does exactly what we want.

Actually it has nothing to do with revenue and forumers. Well, slightly to do with forumers, but more broad in the sense that we have a lot more to offer (and that'll be growing in the coming months) that if you don't visit the site you won't know about. If people have to come to our site to enjoy our comics, then there's an actually possibility that they'll see some of the other stuff we offer.

I barely use my Facebook much, just dislike the whole layout of the site, and the profiles. (and i barely have any friends on it as well, just some people i met online and random people adding me for the hell of it)

I gotta say.. the first C&H comic I saw was the razor blade vendor at emoland. After that, I looked the tag up in google and found explosm.

I actually read every single comic from the very beginning.

Then... after I ran out of comics, I went through all the shorts/movies... though I didn't watch all of them in one sit down. I think if you actually *did* more shorts/movies, people would watch them more. Everyone knows that you have a new comic every day... so there's a reason to read comics every day. Until recently (w/the tags at the tops of comics), I doubt many people checked your shorts/movies list because there wasn't a huge indicator that something was new, and people know that the chances of a new movie/short were pretty slim.

That, and people link comics all the time, but I doubt they link movies... so your extra views could easily come from there.

Just a note on the Facebook app. More or less, it needs some serious work. I want to post a comic on my friend's wall, but when I choose that option, it SAYS I can now do it, but when I go do it, it just chooses a random one and says I haven't picked a default.

Also, most applications allow you to choose your friends (like if you are inviting them to join your application), why can't i have that option when I say I want to post it to someone's wall? Can we just take out the useless middle step of picking a default?

All in all, it's kinda broken and there are too many steps involved in getting the comic on your profile. Or someone else's.

Click the Facebook icon on a comic page, choose "Post this comment on a friend's wall!" then go to post it. Works perfectly for me.

We're not adding an option to spam multiple people at once.

Getting a comic on your profile involves clicking an icon and then an "Add to my profile." If that's too many steps, I can't help you.

I hate to be a buzzkill, but this app still isn't working for me.

I find a comic I want to share (like yesterday's), click the facebook button below it, and then a window pops up that gives me the option to post this comic on a friend's wall. I click that option and this message pops up: Success!

Now when you go to any friend's page, just click the little C&H icon to post the above comic on their wall.

Then I navigate to my friend's page and scroll down to their wall. I click the little C&H application button above his wall that says "C & H Comic" and I get a dialog box that has this message: You currently do not have a specific comic selected, so a random comic has been chosen. To choose a comic of your choice please find one at www.explosm.net and click on the blue facebook icon to replace the above comic.

It works fine for me, just to go the explosm comics and click the facebook button, after which it will ask you for your profile or for a friend. after you click the friend button your comic will be set. after after that you can post on a friend's wall.

So it seems that the Facebook ap for comic 1153 has caused a lot of controversy, including some bigwigs at CNN being interested. Not for the comic itself but for the comments .about one Mohammed Maleej. Rosemary Rich, Pat McKenna, and Guy Stridsigne were making what appeared to harmless jokes.. that turned to holy war on facebook when a flood of Arabs rolled in.. words like "sand nigger" "haji" and "towel head" were used to refer to people of arab descent. CNN would like to interview a few of the posters on "Internet Anonymity" and racial slurs. Both Rosemary R and Guy S have erased all of their posts at this moment. But the comments are still epic.

Uh....there's a new comic up every day...do you need an email to know that?

Beside's that fact, just subscribe to the RSS feed on the comic page and you'll get a new article every day. It's basically the same as a newsletter except easier.

Hate to bump an old thread, but I tried adding comic #1196 to my facebook profile, and it referenced comic #1169. #1169 still references the correct comic. Just wondering if somebody could get that straightened out.
