Looking for a new mod

I spend a lot of my time on the net, so I'd be available for modding all day long. I like to follow the rules. I may not post here much, but I view it if theres something new. And the circle jerk in the new G/S must go.

I wouldn't plan to really change the forum, just to mod it. J-Rex was a pretty good mod but he was inactive so i guess that's why you're looking for a new one.
So I could do it. I post here often and I understand bad threads from the good ones. I also understand the Explosm forums completely and I have modded other forums before.

Ok, well I think I would be a suitable Mod for a few reasons:

1. Im English, meaning I'm in a different timezone, so I'll be online when users and Moderators from other countries aren't.
2. I speak proper English. I don't type LOL or :) as single replies in threads, only in Spame.
3. I have a sense of humour but I can also be sensible. Life's not one big joke, but it is at times.
4. I love Explosm. It's one of those sites that I automatically load up when I log on.
5. I don't judge people by their names or titles. Just because they're Complete Newb's, doesn't mean they don't have something to say.

I wouldn't change anything going on in Games and Surveys now. Things are running smoothly enough. It's never going to be a pinnacle of the forum. I'd just keep enforcing the rules and hand out infractions and warnings where needed. It's fairly evident I know the rules well as 90% of the reports I make end up as an infraction. Other then that I have the time to do it.

I've been here since the start, and I'm on every day, for quite a while. I'm usually in the G & S, debate, or general forum, so since I usually visit these threads, I would be able to catch virtually every bad post in the G & S.

Also, I've been a mod at sites before, though none of them were as large as this.

Just as a tip for the people who want to do this, I'm just going to let you in ona bit of my experience.

You can't change the G&S. It's impossible. You can't teach people how to be funny on the internet and you will always see shitty threads appear as forum games. While it isn't hard being the G&S mod, it just takes some dedication that burned out from me the first few times I tried to change the way things went.

At first you'll dump some threads and give some infractions (and you'll want to give alot) but then you rethink things.

If oyu really want to be the G&S mod, you REALLY need to be dedicated to the task. It's like those teachers who work with retard kids.

I could be a mod because it seems easy in this forum. Basically it's a dumbed down GF. I wouldn't look to improve it with crappy ass games, a crappy internet game is a crappy internet game. Some people just can't be funny, so I wouldn't penalize them for just being unfunny.

I wouldn't give infractions for every little thing, only the major things like if they induce syntax genocide or they're doing something that isn't contributing to the thread they replied to. For instance, if they're just replying after every other person in a thread that would account for post boosting, now it's fine to post in the GS often but I don't think it's acceptable to get half the replies in one said topic. Then there's the unfunny or unoriginal factor: If they post something totally irrelevant to the thread that deserves a time out, and if they put a little post to try to be witty, but they fail miserably or attempt a joke in the thread they find funny but will cause the rest of Explosm's IQ to drop, that will also deserve an infraction. However, I wouldn't ban people if they're generally unfunny, not everyone was graced with a good sense of humour. I will also dump threads that require as little thought as humanely possible, such as anything that has to do with counting, seriously it's more fun to participate in a game that requires a little thought and may be a little challenging after a while than a little one that requires none and you post count boost all day. The GS will never truly be above a sub par forum, but we might as well dump useless threads and infract the retards to make it somewhat acceptable to all.

The second matter are the general forum rules, now I generally follow the global rules on a normal basis, so I won't abuse my mod privilages and overlook them because I have power and others don't, nope I'll follow them like they were the law, and all offenders will be punished accordingly. The GS like BMP said is pretty much a less intelligent General Forum meaning a lot of idiotic posts will be present, as well as unfunny ones. It would be hard not to give an infraction to everyone in the forum, but I am a tolerable person and I will only give infractions for heavy mess ups or being an unfunny jackass. I wouldn't be a very good moderator if handed out bans willy nilly just because some people made some typos, I will ban if they continue to type in incoherent speech.

The third matter is activeness on my part. I'm not on the forums all day long, but I'm on enough to spot generic mess ups by the forum members, plus I like to check up on some older threads not just current ones to see if I might of missed a deserving ban, so basically I will double check threads throughout the GS to see if anyone meets the quota to breaking the forum rules. I am on here almost all day while I am at work. My work is so slow I have nothing ells to do.
I work 10 hour shifts and when I am off I still check the forums a few times a day.
I don’t think this forum is too bad. Seems like the people who want to use it like it and the people who don’t make fun of it. Just like every other Forum section. Well that's just the point. They're not looking for 07er mods. In my humble opinion, these threads are pretty inefficient because they (the Admins) have to look through loads of shit applications.

The thing is, if you're popular on Explosm, have a good rep and want to be a mod, you'll know who you are and will apply in this thread. If you joined after may of this year, you should just save your keyboard extra use and wait for the next thread in another half a year or so.

I like cleaning shit up. After school I have almost nothing going on, and I spend most of my time on the forums. :frown:

I'd be responsible and wouldn't really abuse the powers in G&S or nerding in Spame. If you check my reports (most of them from Beef lately) they have been legit.

I recently graduated high school and won't be attending college until next year. When I'm not working, I'm on these forums. I find I'd be a good mod due to the fact I'm on here everyday and I follow the rules. Considering I used to be a huge spammer, the fact I'm able to follow rules clearly without problem shows some effort and drive to be a better poster.

I really liked this forum when J-rex and Tranny cleaned it the fuck up. I believe I can be a really good mod this time. I guess I was modded when I was too n00bish to be a mod in the first place. This forum is quite different from the 2 forums I had admined.

When I report people, 9/10 times they get banned. I have a lot better judgement now. I can enforce rules as good as Jewwy did. I've been here for nearly 7 months, so I have gotten settled in to the rules really well. I can handle the job. Please give me a second chance.

I won't TO people for being unfunny, unless they are ruining the thread. I will work really hard so potentially awesome threads don't go down the drain. I'll basically do what anyone who's applying for mod should do.

I also have some good ideas in the rules thread and the infraction thread. I'm a good contributor. I have only been TOed twice, and one was lifted, for being uncalled for.

Although this forum is quite screwed over, I might be able to change it.

I've been around for over a year, and lurked for a half a year before that so I know the rules. Whenever I come into G&S, I always see posts that make me vomit. I report them. I'm on the forums every day for hours.

Obvious post boosting threads that hold no comedic value should be stopped. Like that "Change One Letter" game. It holds no significant value. People just post in it to get their count up. Therefore, threads like that will be flushed and their post counts will be set to what it was before they decided to post boost.

There's no reason this place cant be fun but there is also no reason it has to be overrun by post-boosting noobs.

I think I'd make a decent mod. I'm in a different time zone to Americans and Brits, I'm on pretty much every day for a few hours, my grammar is good, and I think I can judge if a thread is any good or not. The g&s used to be a shithole, but with decent modding, bad threads dumped, etc, it could work pretty well.

Separately, making the g&s also for fast threads (like answer this question, or post your favorite x) has worked pretty well on other forums.
