I'm surprised no one has a lyrics thread yet. The premise is simple; post lyrics of a song you like or think have an inner meaning.
Before you post, please keep these rules in mind;
1. Give us the links, not the text itself unless you really feel we should see the lyrics. Posting lyrics to multiple songs in a row can get confusing.
2. Explain why you picked the lyrics.
3. Don't double post like an idiot, and try not to repost lyrics if 20 other people have already done so.
4. Try not to insult other people's opinions, even if it's a rap song.
Feel free to post a link to the song.

All the meaningful lyrics to me are from extremely emo songs :wail:
Pieces - Sum 41 (http://www.metrolyrics.com/pieces-lyrics-sum-41.html)
Breaking the Habit - Linkin Park (http://www.metrolyrics.com/breaking-the-habit-lyrics-linkin-park.html)
Red to Black - Fort Minor (http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/fortminor/redtoblack.html)
The first was pretty much how I felt while trying to live up to the standards I believed my parents set for me.
In Breaking the Habit I can really relate to the chorus (especially "I don't know what's worth fighting for" and "I don't know why I instigate and say what I don't mean").
And Red to Black is essentially the way I live. I get really angry about shit in my life and never really resolve anything. Instead I "just let it fade away" and get pretty numb to it all. The second verse is my favorite. The whole "When you had it made it was all good but now look just another day" is extremely relevant to my life right now.
Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead (http://greenplastic.com/lyrics/fakeplastictrees.php)
This is one of my favourite songs of all time. It's pretty much talking about how everyone tries to be fake in order to get far in life, but eventually comes back and bites them in the ass. That's how I see most people in my life at the moment, and it makes me sick. Thom Yorke's voice is beautiful.
The Scientist - Coldplay (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=145501)
Users comment on www.songmeanings.net:
"Basically, this song is saying that "he" screwed up. He doesn't know how to explain it, because it was against reason, whatever he did. He wants to be able to explain what he did with science and reasoning, but he just can't, because love doesn't work like that. And this person means everything to him, so he wants to try it over again, but the other person thinks that there should be something to explain it."
Hurt - Nine Inch Nails (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=2461)
The last song on the amazing album, "The Downward Spiral". The narrator spent his life focusing on things that don't matter, whilst hurting the ones he love. Then he realizes all the things he's done wrong and tries to fix them.
"You could have it all, my empire of dirt. I will let you down, I will make you hurt."
The Postal Service - Nothing Better (http://www.lyricsdomain.com/20/the_postal_service/nothing_better.html)
(Listen to it here!) (http://www.playlist.com/results.php?site=http%3A%2F%2Fstudentpages.scad.ed u%2F&links=4869d36ab0d48ce349b735d39a35fb578f10098bc1e0 8656be77d527cfcfed74456c5a4dcaf5e3e8665c7b27ee9522 87feb10f1e5f5ef57c250bbb2e4914&originallink=http%3A%2F%2Fstudentpages.scad.edu%2F %7Ejgarib20%2Fsongs%2FPostal%20Service%2F04%20-%20Postal%20Service%20-%20Nothing%20Better.mp3&addedby=null)
One of my favorite songs of all time. It goes back and forth between a man an a woman, singing about their breakup. The man is heartbroken, and the woman is trying to tell him it's over. He's basically telling her how he can change for her, and how much he wants to marry her. The woman then says my favorite line ever from any song, 'Your heart won't heal right, if you keep tearing out the sutures'. That's a line to live by.
Glassjaw - Radio Cambodia (http://www.lyricstime.com/glassjaw-radio-cambodia-lyrics.html)
(Listen to a clip of it here!) (http://www.last.fm/music/Glassjaw/_/Radio+Cambodia)
Great, great, great song. There's lots of speculation that it's about 9/11 and everything that goes along with that. As far as I know, the band has only said that the song is about NYC, but not discussed it further.

Here's one that touched my heart, by The Black Dahlia Murder.
Its about a doctor.
Virally Yours
The sound of vomiting to my ears like singing
now I am beginning to become erect
with illness I am obsessed in the beds of the fallen I rest
a fixation amplified the smell here is what I like best
feverishly vombing the buckets of waste wrapping myself in the filth-ridden sheets
raping the shells of the comatose to fulfill my needs
photographing bedsores cultured by my sick neglect
it's more than a job it's a love for me to walk this close with death
when you hear a flat line you know surely I'll be near
to when the reaper's sickle is drawn I am ever aware
I wish I could pull these strings in death there are finer things
malpractice forever be my bitter name
how quickly life does fade away
but a flip of the river mans coin
could send you screaming to your grave
grief stricken family watches on ceaseless prayers for an only son
"I'm afraid that nothing can be done" the moment has finally come
the wrath of a god exemplified to the pearly gates he'll soon arrive
to leave here his husk in this room of white I'm quivering at thought
pull the plug I'm begging you take the ride to the cold and blue
the reapers yellowed lichen fingers aims ever so true
the orgins of disease to be witnessed in my dreams
the flooding of the blackest blood to quence my fetid needs

True Love Waits, Radiohead If there ever was a reason to buy their live album, this would be it. It has to be one of the most bitter-sweet and open songs they have ever written. If you listen to this song and not tear up a bit, you are a heartless bastard.
I'm not living
I'm just killing time
Your tiny hands
Your crazy kitten smile
Just don't leave
Don't leave

Mass Destruction by Faithless (can't find a link with lyrics that are actually right >_<). Maxi Jazz is simply an amazing lyricist. This song in paticular has a great rhyming pattern and a beautifully phrased chorus.

Nutshell by Alice in Chains
We chase misprinted lies
We face the path of time
And yet I fight
And yet I fight
this battle all alone
No one to cry to
No place to call home
My gift of self is raped
My privacy is raked
and yet I find
and Yet I find
repeating in my head
If I cant be my own
I'd feel better dead.

Well, this song is about 40 minutes long and takes an entire album, so it's alot of lyrics. But it's great lyrics with honestly and such. The band even states:

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick (http://remus.rutgers.edu/JethroTull/Albums/ThickAsABrick-lyrics.html)
The next lyric is here thanks to it's absurdness. Well, not much to say other then:
"There's Winston Churchill dressed in drag,
he used to be a British flag, plastic bag, what a drag."
Genesis - Supper's Ready (http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Supper's-Ready-lyrics-Genesis/2E83F9E74F4A4CF64825696000131E98)

Eminem - When I'm Gone (http://ohhla.com/anonymous/eminem/curtain/whengone.mnm.txt)
Regardless of whether or not you like rap music, this is a really deep and touching song that's meant to be a look into the life of musicians from the non-glamour view.
The Offspring - Gone Away (http://www.plyrics.com/lyrics/offspring/goneaway.html)
Probably the penultimate in songs about loved ones dying, how could this one not be on a list of most meaningful?

All of these songs are truly shit.
EDIT: Most, because I just saw someone mention "Hurt," even though the Johnny Cash version is about fifty times better.
Bob Marley - Redemption song
Bob Marley - One Love
Both of these songs are the epitome of equality, we should all base our morals off of them.
I honestly can't think of any other songs that have meaning to them unless you want me to quote some shitty emo song that gives us details on some retarded shit about the band's lives.

John Travolta = my new best fucking friend.
Personally, Redemption Song has been one of my favorite songs since I was a baby. I couldn't describe to you how well I know this song. I can play it on guitar backwards. Not even kidding. Travolta have you heard Joe Strummer's version of it with either Johnny Cash or Bob Marley? Both are amazing.
There are a few songs that have some lyrics that were superimposed on my views on life. Some I don't even know the name of, I may have heard them walking by a car with music on or something. But here are a few verses that come to mind;
EDIT!!! Sorry didn't see that "don't post the actual lyrics" but I feel the best way to get a sense of them is if you see them alone. whatever though.

Strummer's cover is much better than Cash's but they're both amazing.
I'm pretty fond of The Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under the Bridge". The lyrics, if you listen to them, are pretty beautiful. Am I still masculine?
It talks about lonelyness and how taking drugs causes you to lose those you love.

If you ask me, the Frusciante's guitar riff was the beautiful part of that song. And yes, we both just lost our manliness. Did you know Frusciante's mom was in the choir for that song? Because I just found out like a month ago and I was like; "fuck man, thats crazy."

Zzyzx Rd. by Stone Sour
My interpretation of the song is that the narrator is in drug rehab or some sort of rehabilitation. It's a beautiful song lyrics-wise and the music and piano is amazing.
I'm following suit and directions.
I crawl up inside for protection.
I'm told what to do and I dont know why.
I'm over existing in limbo
I'm over the myths and placebos
I dont really mind if I just fade away
I'm ready to live with my family.
I'm ready to die in obscurity
Cause I'm so tired that I got to go.

I think that by far the most emotionally driven song that I have ever heard is Alkaline Trio - Stupid Kid (http://www.plyrics.com/lyrics/alkalinetrio/stupidkid.html)
I removed all but one of the chorus so you can get a look at the lyrics. Everyone has felt this way at one time or another about someone that they have just been dumped by. The structure of the song is really important to me I thats why i posted the lyrics
The use of the same first sentence structure is awesome too
There are things that used to make me_______
it makes the song flow together and transition from one verse to the next.
There are things that used to make me smile
One of them was you for just a little while
You left me for dead so far away
I replaced you with fear and shame
You'll be happy on the day I die
(Chorus)
There are things that used to make me laugh
But now they're deeply buried in the past
I left them there so far away
Replaced my humor with my pain
I'll be happy on the day it dies
(Chorus)
There are things that used to make you cry
One of them was me for just a little while
Why is it that you had to say
Goodbye in your special way
You slashed the tires on my car
(Chorus)
Chorus:
Remember when I said I love you
Well, forget it I take it back
I was just a stupid kid back then
I take back every word that I said

The Cure - Love Song (http://www.asklyrics.com/display/Cure/Love_Song_Lyrics/3646.htm)
It reminds me of my ex JD, the one person I ever actually fell in love with. I don't think I'll ever get over him and honestly I don't know if I ever want to. He meant the world to me and still does, and I know he still feels the same way and the song just reminds me of all the good stuff me made me feel.

I was thinking about posting this one too. This is probably one of the deepest songs I've ever listened to, and a lot of it probably comes from the fact that I realize this probably ACTUALLY happened to Immortal Technique. Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick (http://remus.rutgers.edu/JethroTull/Albums/ThickAsABrick-lyrics.html)
Ian Anderson is quite, let's say creative when it comes to lyrics. I really enjoy Baker's Street Muse.
But the best lyrics in my opinion, which is really hard for me to weed out, would be ones written by Robert Hunter for the Dead and include:
Ripple - Grateful Dead (http://www3.clearlight.com/~acsa/intro.htm)
This is a song about life, and is interesting in the words and the way it is written. It starts off by addressing the listener and getting them ready and situated with the song, and also tells them a little about the song.
It then moves to the chorus which is a haiku. This time you hear the chorus it makes you think about thought.
The song then moves onto the 2nd verse, which is about life. Then chorus comes in again, but this time it conjures images of life rather than those of thought. You have one more verse after that, and it along with the second half of the second verse are my favorite parts of the song because they talk about life's journey, and how it is different for each individual and only you can make that journey.
Dark Star - Grateful Dead (http://www3.clearlight.com/~acsa/intro.htm)
This song is one why the lyrics are few, but extremely beautiful. For instance the first verse: Dark star crashes/Pouring its light into ashes/Reason tatters/The forces tear loose from the axis/Searchlight casting/For faults in the clouds of delusion
Those are probably Hunter's finest gems, but there are many more. He is in my opinion one of the greatest poets of all time.

Probably anything from Secondhand Serenade, but my favorite song has to be Fall For You (http://www.lyricsmania.com/lyrics/secondhand_serenade_lyrics_8321/a_twist_in_my_story_lyrics_75505/fall_for_you_lyrics_750155.html), it's amazing.
Thank you, You are a legend. Secondhand Serenade is amazing so I agree with that. But I'm gonna say
Hands held high - Linkin Park (http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/linkinpark/handsheldhigh.html)
Simply because it's all true and it's all pretty self-Explanatory I think. Even though not many people liked the album

Immortal Technique - Dance With The Devil (http://www.asklyrics.com/display/Immortal_Technique/Dance_With_the_Devil_Lyrics/132810.htm)
My favourite lyrics purely for the amazing story, and the greater moral. I have probably only listened to this song about 3 times in total. I find it too disturbing.
I had never heard that song before, but I just listened to it, and wow is it intense. Lyrically amazing, but definitely disturbing. I don't think I could ever listen to it again.

Blackout - Muse
Don't kid yourself
And don't fool yourself.
This love's too good to last,
And I'm too old to change.
Don't grow up too fast
And don't embrace the past.
This life's too good to last,
And I'm too young to care.
Pigs(Three Different Ones) - Pink Floyd
so much Symbolism in this song.amazing work.
Big man, pig man, ha ha, charade you are
You well heeled big wheel, ha ha, charade you are
And when your hand is on your heart
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost a joker
With your head down in the pig bin
Saying "keep on digging"
Pig stain on your fat chin
What do you hope to find?
When you're down in the pig mine
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry.
Bus stop rat bag, ha ha, charade you are
You fucked up old hag, ha ha, charade you are
You radiate cold shafts of broken glass
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost worth a quick grin
You like the feel of steel
You're hot stuff with a hat pin
And good fun with a hand gun
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry.
Hey you Whitehouse, ha ha, charade you are
You house proud town mouse, ha ha, charade you are
You're trying to keep our feelings off the street
You're nearly a real treat
All tight lips and cold feet
And do you feel abused?
.....!.....!.....!.....!
You gotta stem the evil tide
And keep it all on the inside
Mary you're nearly a treat
Mary you're nearly a treat
But you're really a cry.
Hats of!

Any Pink Floyd Song.
Even Marooned? Or A Saucerful of Secrets.
Seriously, that comment is bad. No real fan would say so, some of their lyrics is garbage, and I'm a fan. For example Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict (well, only the name is really good).
But this songs lyrics are great.

It's a really short song and you kind of have to hear the song to understand how the lyrics flow. Nevertheless, I love the lyrics. They kind of remind me of things I've wanted to tell people but never got the chance.

Demonology and Heartache - Atreyu (http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/atreyu/demonology_and_heartache.html)
(The song is here) (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Tb8kgyAGDSE)
The main reason for this song is that sometimes something can happen in a relationship when you're at a young age that changes you and you can't forget it for the rest of your life. The second verse, in prticular the two lines "Love kills, romance is dead..
And I don't even trust myself, but I love you..." Describe exactly how I feel right now with my current boyfriend.
You Eclisped By Me - Atreyu (http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/atreyu/you_eclipsed_by_me.html)
(The song is here) (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=IDGi34u_4l8&feature=related)
In relation to the earlier song, my first relationship was ended not by my choice on Valentines Day. Being young and naieve (sp?) I was in adoration of the guy and he crushed me. It made me a stronger person but this song does describe rather well my feelings for him.
"Did you take me for, a fool
Or were you just too blind to see
That every effort made has failed
And there is no destroying me"
For Those About To Rock (We Salute You!) - AC/DC (http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/ac_dc/for_those_about_to_rock_we_salute_you.html)
(Listen to it Here) (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=doHoE156RAo)
For those who have the courage to get up on stage, make classic songs that will be remembered thoughtout the ages as what started off Rock and many other generes, we salute you!
Abbey's Tegan and Sara post reminded me that I should add 'Call It Off' (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=3530822107858665801) by T&S. This song is just amazing, and definitely has applied to my life at one point or another.

Every Time I Die - She's my Rushmore (http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/everytimeidie/hotdamn.html#5)
"The greatest lovers were murderers first"
One of the most tattooed song lyrics ever.
Any Modest Mouse or Bright Eyes.
Also Animal Collective, my favorite would have to be For Reverend Green. (http://lyricwiki.org/Animal_Collective:For_Reverend_Green)
It reminds me of the one I love, and always will.
Immortal Technique is fucking incredible with lyrics. He makes the most fucked up things sound poetic. As well as Dance With The Devil, a song of his I really love is The Cause of Death, Link, (http://artists.letssingit.com/immortal-technique-lyrics-cause-of-death-xdm4zmk) partly because he calls Dick Cheney a Fucking leech.
Also, just as a change from the emo songs/songs about personal tragedy which usually try to corner the market on most meaningful lyrics, 'Hunting For Witches' by Bloc Party I think has a really important message, being in a nutshell, that papers like the Daily Mail use fear to sell their pretty offensive politics. I think its a really big problem here in Britain, probably is in America too? So i enjoyed hearing a decent song which is actually saying something meaningful as well. Anyway, Lyrics are here. (http://artists.letssingit.com/bloc-party-lyrics-hunting-for-witches-mxrz8hr) I really like the line 'Disparate and misinformed, fear will keep us all in place'.

Lover I Don't Have to Love by Bright Eyes. A tad emo but I love it so much.
My friend fuckin' loves Bright Eyes!
But the ones that are most meaningful to me have to be the lyrics to Jamie T's
So Lonely Was The Ballad.
http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=3530822107858607445
In the song a man starts talking randomly about panic attacks.
And how it was they noticed how the panic times subsided after listening to this tape, so we would appreciate your feedback. People who have panic attacks often feel that they should be able to deal with them and indeed the resources you need are already within you its just that sometimes the appropriate responses to a particular situation are not immediately accessible
I sometimes have panic attacks and I listened to this song while having one and it really helps.
I'm pretty sure that Jamie T used to have panic attacks and his Mom(mum) gave him Panic Prevention CD's. Which might have to do with the album's title "Panic Prevention."
Really good song too.
The only lyrics that really touch me deep are from Killswitch Engage's "My Last Serenade"
Your destination is a choice within yourself
Will you rise or become a slave
To self righteousness
Open up your heart and gaze within

Brand New are, im my mind, the lyric kings, but their best work was on the song Seventy Times 7. Some background first; the song is about the lead singer's best friend, who is now in Taking Back Sunday, sleeping with his girlfriend.
So is that what you call a get-away?
Well tell me what you got away with
'Cause I've seen more spine in a jelly fish
I've seen more guts in eleven year old kids
so take another drink and drive yourself home,
I hope there's ice on all the roads
and you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt
and again when your head goes through the windshield.
Taking Back Sunday wrote a reply in the form of the song 'There's no 'I' in 'team'' it includes some comparitively good lyrics but the best are probably these;
Everything I know about breaking hearts
I learnt from you it's true
I never did it with the style and grace you have
But I made loads of plans
Based off these mistakes.
Also there's a couple of lines included in both songs because they're the last think the cuckold said to his former best friend on the phone before hanging up forever.
Is that what you call tact?
you're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back
so let's end this call
and end this conversation.

Straight Outta Compton - NWA
Sunburn - Muse
"Beat me up, beat me down.
Mess me up beyond all recognition.
For what it's worth, I'd do it again.
With no consequence I will do it again."
From 'What Do They Know' by Mindless Self Indulgence.
I think this song is basically about no regret and stuff.
It kind of gives off the vibe of something like someone doing something they like and being persecuted for it, but doing it again no matter what anyone says or does.
Or something like that.

Seven ~ Revis
(Okay, while these lyrics are simplistic and probably won't hit the note with everyone, this has been my favourite song for a long time. I find it hard to explain why...it just is)
It's all over
It's all over now
The seal is broken
Creatures spoken now
I hope you come up to heaven right now
It's all over
It's all over now
Can I be changed?
Or am I the same
It's all over
It's all over now
No room for hiding
We're children fighting now
And hope you come up to heaven right now
It's all over
It's all over now
Can I be the same?
The rain is falling
The rain is falling now
Today we're leaving
Our souls are calling now
The stars on his right holding seven right now
The rain is falling
The rain is falling now
Can I be changed?
Or am I the same
It's all over
It's all over now
No room for hiding
We're children fighting now
And hope you come up to heaven right now
It's all over
It's all over now
Silence ~ Delerium
(Some of the most striking lyrics I've stumbled across)
Give... me... release
Witness me,
I am outside
Give me peace
Heaven holds a sense of wonder
And I wanted to... believe that
I'd get caught up,
When the rage in me subsides
Passion, choke the flower...
'til she... cries no more
Possessing all... the beauty
Hungry still, for more
Heaven holds a sense of wonder...
And I wanted to... believe that
I'd get caught up
When the rage in me, subsides
In this white wave,
I am sinking...
In this silence...
In this white wave,
In this silence,
I believe...
I can't... help this longing
Comfort... me.
I... can't... hold it all in...
If... you... won't let me
Heaven holds a sense of wonder...
And I wanted to... believe that
I'd get caught up,
When the rage in me subsides
In this white wave,
I am sinking,
In this silence...
In this white wave,
In this silence
I believe...
I have seen you,
In this white wave,
You are silent
You are breathin'...
In this white wave
I am free...
Uniform ~ Bloc Party
(Basically the definition of a teenager xD)
There was a sense of disappointment as we left the mall
All the young people looked the same
Wearing their masks of cool and indifference
Commerce dressed up as rebellion
Because we are so handsome and we are so bored
So entertain us, tell me a joke
Make it long, make it last forever
Make it cruel just make me laugh
We can't be hurt
Drink to forget your blues on the weekend
Think about more things to buy
The TV taught me how to sulk and to love nothing
And how to grow my hair long
So why do you go picking fights that you will lose?
(When u have entertainment, when give you things to pass the time)
So why do you have to go thinking thoughts that are above you?
(You can be happy, just play dumb x2)
Well I was brave
And unique,
Intelligent,
A snowflake
I could have been a hero
No-one can be trusted over the age of 14
Tattoo our arms
Converse shoes
Cynical
But we still do it
We tell ourselves that we're different
I've gotten so good at lying to myself
All, all my pain and honour is used up
All my guns are rusted
So when are you going to realise those are not your wrongs to right
Have another line, have another drink
(Pop songs won’t change the government)
I am a martyr I just need a motive
I am a martyr I just need a cause
I'm a believer I just need to a moment
I'm a believer I just need a cause
We're finding it hard to break the mould
We are finding it so hard to be alone
We're finding it hard to have time by ourselves
We have nothing at all to say
Uniform
There was a sense of disappointment as we sped away
All the teenagers looked the same
Mad World ~ Gary Jules
(the most hauntingly sad song...ever)
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going no where
Going no where
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And to feel the way that every child should
Sits and listen
Sits and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Mad World
Mad world
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world

Frank Zappa is truly a genius lyricist and composer. I absolutely love this interlude to the song Flakes.
I'm a moron 'n' this is my wife
She's frosting a cake
With a paper knife
All what we got here's
American made
It's a little bit cheesey,
But it's nicely displayed
Well we don't get excited when it
Crumbles 'n' breaks
We just get on the phone
And call up some Flakes
They rush on over
'N' wreck it some more
'N' we are so dumb
They're linin' up at our door
Well, the toilet went crazy
Yesterday afternoon
The plumber he says
"Never flush a lampoon!"
This great information
Cost me half a week's pay
And the toilet blew up
Later on the next day ay-eee-ay
There's another part where he says, "while your children are sleepin, your puppy is crappin" hilarious.

Oh yeah also Alkaline Trio's 'Armageddon' for the opening lines. The way they flow is incredible.
I wrote the words to this song on the back of a photogragh
Behind your back it goes
A little something like this
in words too big to miss
I don't know the title or who sang it but it makes me cry everytime i read them or hear the song
I was so empty, self loathing, until you awoke me.....
lived in trangression, feasted sin, destroying all i stood for.....
A world of spreading disease, legs up for infidelity, the force feed of their stiffend sickness. The promised hiding their rings, to suck down some of the things that throw this world into lovelessness....
All the pain in this world can't stop us now , for we have each other, all the hate in this world won't tear us apart, this love is forever....

Serj Tankian - Saving us
Why do we sit around and
Break each others hearts tonight,
Why do we dance around
The issues till the morning light,
When we sit and talk and
Tear each others lives apart
Mostly because this has happened for pretty much every girl I've been involved with...

I ain't the reason that you gave me no reason to return your call
You built a house of cards and got shocked when you saw them fall
Well are you sayin' I'm innocent?

Jack and Diane - John Cougar Mellencamp (http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/John-cougar-Mellencamp/Jack-And-Diane.html)
Oh yeah, I say, life goes on
Long after the thrill of livin' is gone
Gonna let it rock
Let it roll
Let the Bible Belt come
And save my soul
Hold on to sixteen as long as you can
Changes come around real soon
Make us women and men
That chorus and last verse right there always get to me that some day I will be old and life may lose all excitement and it scares me. So I live and plan to live with happiness and fun, to make as many happy memories as possible.

Forget Her - Jeff Buckley
"Don't fool yourself
She was heartache from the moment that you met her
My heart is frozen still
As I try to find the will to forget her somehow

Most of Jeff's lyrics make me want to weep with him, and this song is easily one of his best.

It's mainstream, but whatever. Ocean Avenue - Yellowcard
"We were both 16 and it felt so right
sleeping all day, staying up all night"
I heard this song during my girlfriend and mine's first summer together and completely related.
Megadeth - The Scorpion
My life is everything
That feeds my thirst that causes sin
My wants are all I care
No shame and guilt, there's nothing there
Look deep into my face
I sell deceit without a trace
Fear not what I can do
Unless you want it done to you, oh-ohhh!
As I climb onto your back, I will promise not to sting
I will tell you what you want to hear and not mean anything
Then I treat you like a dog as I shoot my venom in
You pretend you didn't know that I am a scorpion, oh
My self I'm centered in
There's nothing else, there's never been
And I dream, to be left alone
With the sadness, the madness of my own
Look deep into my soul
It's black as coal like a bullet hole
Fear not, get off your knees
There's no defense, you'll do what I please, oh-oh!
My lies, to reach the shore
I aggrandize and nothing more
My hopes, to steal away
All that you love, I'll soon betray
Look deep into my past
The pain I deal is unsurpassed
I'm not a lowly scorpion
I'm so much worse; I'm the fall of man
I kinda realized my abusive and sociopathic personality after listening to that song.

"She said I could never do that
But I know you can, you are in my dream
We are one person not two of a kind
And what was mine is now in your posession
I could feel you underneath my skin
As the wind rushed in
Sent the kitchen table crashing
She said nobody move
Or I'll bring the house down
I hardly know which way is up
Or which way down
People are strange God only knows
I feel possessed when you come around"

Poison - Every Rose has its Thorn
Now I, hear you've found somebody new,
and that I never meant that much to you,
To hear that tears me up inside;
and to see you cuts me, like a knife,
i guess every rose has its thorn,
just like every niiight has its dawn,
just like every cowboy sings a sad, sad song,
every rose has its thorn
The moment he says "like a knife" just gives me chills, the way it's sung. And this song explains my relationship life for the most part. Plus, I've always loved poison. This might just be my favorite song ever.
Hats of!

King Crimson - In The Court of the Crimson King
On soft gray mornings widows cry
The wise men share a joke;
I run to grasp divining signs
To satisfy the hoax.
The yellow jester does not play
But gentle pulls the strings
And smiles as the puppets dance
In the court of the crimson king.

Awesome song but the part;
Mouth full of dirt your name is removed from the registry.
St. Peter greets with empty eyes then turns and locks the gate.
...Always gets me, I'm not religous or anything, but getting turned back at the gates of heaven just sends chills down my spine.

I think Kurt Cobain is one of the greatest Lyrics writers of all time.
I especially like this line
my heart is broke
But I have some glue
help me inhale
And mend it with you

Pink Floyd- Pigs on the Wing (Part One)
If you didn't care what happened to me,
And I didn't care for you,
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain.
Wondering which of the buggars to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing.
It's a pretty simple song, but it really gets to me. The Marshal Tucker Band's Can't You See (http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/blow/cantyousee.htm) always gets me, too.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor has great songs in general but these two songs, pertaining to lyrics, or samples in this case, by them are the ones that stood out most to me.
Dead Flag Blues:
http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=35674
^That site is a great site where they post the lyrics but the comments towards the bottom have great interpretations of what people see the lyrics meanings as.
Second song- Terrible Canyons of Static:

Incredible song, not much else to say. BTW this man is apostate so do not interpret him as some religious freak xD

Megadeth - Take No Prisoners
Got on chance, infiltrate them
Get it right, terminate them
The Panzers will, permeate them
Break their pride, denigrate them
And their people, retrograde them
Typhus, deteriate them
Epidemic, devastate them
Take no prisoners, cremate them
Burn!
Going to war, give 'em hell
D-Day, next stop Normandy
Beginning of the end
We know how to and sure as shit we'll win
War is peace, sure man
A retreat for the damned
A playground for the demented,
A haven for those who walk this world
Bereft of heart and soul
Love and war they say all is fair
Take his life but won't take his hair
Your body has parts your country can spare
By the way son here's your wheelchair
He once had to be all he could be
Now he's nothing, no one for no one nowhere to see
Funny thing, he's like you & me
It's a funny thing, a funny thing
Tears streak his solemn stare
Abandoned for wreckage, nobody cares
No one knew what would happen there
No one spoke no one even dared
Don't ask what you can do for you country
Ask what your country can do for you
Take no prisoners, take no shit
Take no prisoners, take no shit
Take no prisoners, take no shit
Take no prisoners, take no shit
Shit....

Creep - Radiohead (http://www.lyricsdomain.com/18/radiohead/creep.html)
The lyrics mean a lot to me 'cause of my boyfriend. He sang it to me while pretty drunk on his birthday but it is one of the cutest things he's ever done, so I always smile when I hear it.

Stellar by Incubus
Meet me in outer space
We could spend the night, watch the earth come up
I've grown tired of that place, wont you come with me
We could start again
(Chorus)
How do you do it, make me feel like I do
How do you do it, its better than I ever knew
Meet me in outer space
I will hold you close, If your afraid of heights
I need you to see this place, It might be the only way
That I can show you how, it feels to be inside of you
(Chorus)
The first verse is what I like the most, but I absolutely love this song. It's so simple and sweet.

Cannibal Corpse - I Cum Blood (http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/cannibalcorpse/tombofthemutilated.html#2)
Means alot to me.... It's the story of my life...
In Flames - Alias (http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/inflames/asenseofpurpose.html#4)
Especially this part:
Let them take me far away
Crawl back in place,
It's easier to cope behind the curtain,
Wipe the worries away
No thought about the consequence
No not the story of my life but someone in my school should take this to consideration....
Must admit though, rather want the old lyrics of In Flames, about human weakness, astrologi, and other subjects...
Stuff like Moonshield (http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/inflames/thejesterrace.html#1) has allso very much depth, if u can understand em =D
Allso Dark Tranquillitys - Nightfall By The Shore Of Time (http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/darktranquillity/skydancer.html#1)
Goes in the depths.... Most of the old Gotenborg melo death, got lyrics like these =)

I find it a bit hard choosing my favourite lyrics. The lyrics that I relate to on the big things are pretty much mainstream, but I've got a few others.
Tom Waits - Martha (http://www.lyricsdepot.com/tom-waits/martha.html)
Best love song ever. I love how he still loves her after forty years, and at first tries to convince her that he doesn't.
Lykke Li - I'm Good I'm Gone (http://www.text.nu/musik-video-lyrics/lykke-li-im-good-im-gone.html)
Simply cause it's how I feel right now.

Very nice, sad song. Has an unbelievable ability to make me teary-eyed.
I love 'Wake up' by Coheed and Cambria - always makes me feel really loved up (and teary).. but i think that shows a good song.

The song is 'This world can't tear us apart' by Trivium.
Mine would be a lyric from a Boysetsfire song - '(10) And counting', it goes "I wouldn't trade these drunken days to be like you"
I get so many people saying i'm wasting my time on weekends by drinking and that's all i've really got to say to them, especially since in a years time I won't be doing it half as much cus i'll be working my ass off for a degree at university.
EDIT: Dunno if it's already been mentioned in this thread but Swing Life Away by Rise Against, "I've got some friends, some that I hardly know, but we've had some times I wouldn't trade for the world".
Most of their stuff has pretty decent lyrics but that line always sticks in my head.

The Offspring-Your gonna go far kid.
Show me how to lie
You're getting better all the time
And turning all against one
is an art thats hard to teach
Another clever word
sets off an unsuspecting herd
And as you step back into line
a mob jumps to their feet
I love the song, for some reason.

The Clash - (White Man) In Hammersmith Palais (http://www.metrolyrics.com/white-man-in-hammersmith-palais-lyrics-the-clash.html)
This song contains a great message, (among others), about "sell-out" punk bands, only in it for the money. That sentiment may seem naive and cliche nowadays, but this was written back in 1978.

If I die tomorrow
Id be allright
Because I believe
That after were gone
The spirit carries on
Move on, be brave
Dont weep at my grave
Because I am no longer here
But please never let
Your memory of me disappear
I just love this song.
