I actually liked that music form Dragonquest 8, it's some sort of classical music by Koichi Sugiyama. I played that game so much it got kind of repetitive.

Also, the music in Mike Tyson's Punch Out when Mac is running behind the fat guy on the bike is pretty sweet too.

Guitar players would be interested in this, John Petrucci of Dream Theatre wrote a instrumental called Necronomicon for an old sega game. It is really awesome.

The MSG soundtrack kicked some serious ass also.

Also, i'm not sure it is counts, but the Original composition for Guitar Hero III by Slash, is possibly one of the greatest things i've ever heard.

I'm quite partial to Nobuo's music, although I've been playing FFXII a bit and the soundtrack, despite being made by someone else (doesn't really matter though) is actually really good. More interesting rhythmically than anything Nobuo ever did.

Old school C64 composer Rob Hubbard made some fucking fantatstic music in his day, have a look around for torrents of legendary .SID files.

the Tony Hawks Games 1-4 had the best soundtracks of any games I have ever played. At parties we used to just run the TV through stereo speakers and put the game on. Instant awesome music ready shuffled!

I totally loved the soundtrack in Chrono Trigger. Sometimes I would just stop moving just to listen to the music.

By the way those DK songs are pretty good, especially the second one. It brings back great memories.

I can't think of specifics now, but Blizzard has been really good with some nice orchestral stuff in things like Diablo II, especially with the expansion. And the music in the original Diablo really stays with anyone who's played it, I'm sure.

I've played hours upon hours of Jet Set/Grind Radio just to listen to the music. Back when it first came out I had no access to the Soundtrack CD so I bummed it.

In Pursuit Of Greed had some really awesome tracks compared to it's graphics and gameplay. I don't think you'll find the game anywhere though.

I have to agree with the Final Fantasy series, but even though the game itself had horrible reviews, I loved the music from FFX.
