I went into town this weekend unbeknown to me it was gay pride weekend :D

I clapped all right :]

They even did the splits D:

He smelt of semen :/

WHAT DO YOU WANT BABAIIII

They opted for everything

He dropped the soap (on purpose) :(

But he thoroughly enjoyed the experience

Now at this point of the day I was a little frustrated about what was going on, I only wanted to cross the road to get to the cinema. Yet how could I without interacting with this:

http://a468.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/100/l_b2df1aa2e55033cb7b4facb6ac9ecbdb.jpg

BUT THE FUN DIDN'T STOP THERE

http://a774.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/116/l_53127f684e561b9e9f2deac7c7619965.jpg

The gay parade went on for the whole day thus blocking off the only public walkway to the cinema, and I wasn't affluent enough to ride the tram :(

In the end I missed the chance to view the Bourne Ultimatum, I was infuriated on my behalf for not getting to see Matt Damon in action.

Though I got more action than I bargained for in the end

This guy threw out free packets of lube that he/she concealed in his/her bag.
So that was my weekend, I hope you enjoyed my pictures and evocative tale.

Being gay is just as simple as being straight. Another sexual preference. But even some of the pimpiest pimps can't even compare to how gay some gay people get. Jeez I mean you're gay you don't need to shout it out.

If you're gay, thats cool, but there's no reason to have a party about it.

I'd have to agree. I'm all for gays not having anything denied of them, but this is unnecessary. It's like a bunch of Mormons marching the streets each surrounded by their 7 wives and preaching their bible while having Mormon... festivities. It's unneeded.

No offense, but you guys are making yourself look ignorant by claiming it's unnecessary. Yes, it goes over the top, but what can you do when puberty puts you through hell? The reason why there are no 'straight pride' festivals is because heterosexuals don't have to worry about their location to integrate themself into the culture, and that's what gay pride is for: it opens doors.

I totally agree. I mean it's great that they have pride and aren't afraid to tell people they're gay, but an entire street festival about it is going a bit too far. It's like with racism, no one cares if someone says they're black and proud, but if someone says they're white and proud they get called a racist, even if they're not.

Back Doors! Haha

But seriously, just because you have a problem in life doesn't mean you deserve to shove it in society's face.

By your logic, Australia should be having an Interest Rate Rise Parade, and Africa should just be one big fucking eternal parade.

So being gay means you can have a difficult time of it. Deal with it like the rest of us humans do.

I understand they want to show off because they are gay and not afraid of it, but I do not think they need to throw a parade to show their pride. There are other less obtrusive ways to show off their pride.

I can see where you're coming from, but a major disagreement I have is that from what I can see in the pictures this festival isn't integrating gay culture. Maybe I'm ignorant, but I don't think gay men often act like that. Am I wrong when I think they are just men (or women, of course) that just find romance and sexuality in those of the same gender? A bunch of men lathered up and dancing without tops is not what I think of when I think of gay men. I don't think it's what the gay community would want us to think of either.

I might have implied that with one sentence...

...but that isn't what I meant to say...

So being gay means you can have a difficult time of it. Deal with it like the rest of us humans do.
...because in reality, I was implying that we have to worry about our location when we decide we'd like to hit the real world and have some fun. Again, seeing how we are a 'minority', there's nothing wrong with bringing the 'minority' together to open doors.

So hating parades means you can have a difficult time with it. Deal with it like the rest of us humans do.

That guy has AIDS up to here.

That guy slightly resembles Macaulay Culkin. Jacko isn't around is he?

Honestly though, I think gay pride parades might be a bit over the top. Though, I mean since there are other parades though, I'm sure the gays look at it like, "well, how come we cant have one, blah blah". Here in kentucky we have a St. Patrick's Day Parade, a Kentucky Derby parade(or something) and such. We have others, i think, i just cant remember them.

But that picture with those slightly overweight, beer-bellied, middle-aged men in thoses shorts, is a bit unsettling. They all just so happened to be bald too.

EDIT: ...because in reality, I was implying that we have to worry about our location when we decide we'd like to hit the real world and have some fun. Again, seeing how we are a 'minority', there's nothing wrong with bringing the 'minority' together to open doors.

You're gay? Didn't know that. Oh well. Anyway.

To be honest, I think gays are obviously more accepted than they ever were back in the day. So, what more are they/you wanting? (not to sound a dick). Like a gay pride month or something? Bah, talking about these kind of things always spark debates and such.

I'm just saying by the way. I don't necessarily approve of gays, but I'm not going to be like, "OMG FAG GO HOME" or anything like that. Hell, I go to Rocky Horror Picture Show every month and 94% of the people that are in the theatre are gay. And I'm straight as they come, so that doesn't bother me.

It's more about spreading awareness rather than demanding people to accept us, albeit gay parades tend to push it by shoving it in your face with some pretty ugly fat and hairy guys in speedos and skinny boys who probably spend every night sniffing coke.

By the way, by awareness I mean that it gives the area a more diverse and cultural feel to it. It brings in a lot of guys and girls who might have been otherwise relatively unsure about the degree of discrimination present in the town or city.

Trust me, parades like that are not exactly the way to make people accept gay people. If anything, it'll creep them out.

Flamboyantly gay is a bit annoying at times. I somewhat agree, when people whom are straight and/or know nothing of gays whatsoever, and they see a parade with people dressed like, with short shorts on, whomever are fat and hairy and crap, its like, "wtf? is this what gay is all about?" Ya know? Though, a lot of kids around my age/generation are going to be more accepting of gays, because that is part of our culture now, and the younger kids when they get our age, they might not even give a shit whatsoever. But teh older generations are the ones who have/are going to have the problems with it. And again, parades of such, will not help "soften the blow".

Gay Pride Parades look fun.

And to all of those complaining about Pride parades, here's my opinion:
I won't judge straights by what happens in Vegas in Mardi Gras,
so why judge gays by what happens at Pride Parades?
It's not like it's every freakin' day. If someone wants to get dressed up and have fun for one freakin' day, let 'em and get over it.
Heterosexuality is "paraded" enough every fucking day by those couples humping in public and drooling all over each other. Frankly, I have more of a problem with that than a guy in a rhinestone G-string parading in the streets. At least he's not fucking someone on the float, getting drnk and marrying random people or flashing his silicon tits at some guy so he can get fucking plastic beads.
So basically, I guess what I'm saying is get the fuck over it.

To be honest, I would not want people to think of me as to what they see in gay pride, when I tell them that Im gay.

When I first saw the "Clap for the Gays" picture, I assumed that this was probably some anti-gay protest wanting to give the clap to gay people.

Anyway, these "gay pride" parades definitely do not showcase the real gay community, but more like the "sub communities" within the gay community as a whole.

Yes, I completely agree that they are very, very over the top, however, this would likely stop if gay rights were a whole lot more equal to that of straight couples.

And no, this may be my first post, but this is in no way, shape, or form an attempt at a PSA or gay/lesbian rights.

People who act weird and are not ill should always be made fun of.

Stop being so bitter. There's no straight pride march because we're not targeted by ignorant wankers or whatever. We don't ever really feel the need to hide our orientation because we don't get abuse for it.
What's the problem? If they want to celebrate, let them, it's a fucking parade, lighten up.
