What do you like better, cats or dogs?
I like dogs.

Cats are so much better. So cuddly and cute. Dogs just sniff your butt and hump your leg. I know this from experience.

I hate dogs, I'm quite scared of them. I find cats to be a lot more affectionate when they aren't scratching up my hands. Plus I think they're cuter than dogs.

Cats because they don't drool or try to tongue you.
I've always been a cat person, something about their independence appealed to me.
But I did have the most amazing dog in the world.
This is a tough one... I'll stick with cats.
where's the option for both, dammit??

--------------------------------------------------------------------
The Cat's Day
Day 983 of my captivity.
My humans continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed
hash or some sort of dry nuggets. I make my contempt for the rations
perfectly clear. Nevertheless I must eat something in order to keep up
my strength.
In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. I
decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet to
strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my
capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about
what a "good little hunter" I am.. Bastards.
There was some sort of assembly tonight. I was placed in solitary
confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the
noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to
the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use
it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
humans by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this
again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.
The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems
to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the humans
regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. The humans have
arranged protective custody for him in an elevated metal cell, so he is
safe.
For now...

I'm a cat person. Also cats are loyal too, I have been known to let my cat out for entire days and it still comes back to my doorstep. Probably has to do with something with territory, though.
Not to say I don't love dogs. I have two, both a golden retriever/collie/doberman mix. Pretty interesting stuff.

I'm a dog person, cats are stuck up snobs who walk around with their tails sticking up so you can see how tight their tiny but holes are. My leg was viciously attacked by my friend's cat once, it was bleeding for like 5 minutes. I think all cats hate me, 'cos whenever I walk past one it stares at me like a teacher or something.

Cat's because you can just sit with a cat and it can be mellow.
Dogs just...no. I've never understood how to train a dog.
But I can get my cat to come. I find if I hit something a against the ground repeatedly, he walk towards it.
And come on you just love fat cats don't you? Mine looks like Garfield(Names Punkin)

I like cats. When you pet them your hands don't smell bad afterwards.
One time I petted my friend's cat cat and my hand smelled like crap and it was coverd in hair. But my dog's hair smells normal.
I like dogs, because they are always happy & always ready to play & be loved. Cats are cool. I love all animals. But cats are just pissy all the time. When you want to play, they don't. When they want to play & you don't they get mad at you. Plus, cats can't be trained to listen to you.

Okay. I'm not clear on this threads meaning. If you mean as a pet, then dogs, ftw. If you mean as a midnight snack, I'm going to have to go cat. Nothing beats a nice, warm slice of cat at one in the morning to put you back to sleep.
I love him even though he has fleas
That's not the cats fault. You're just a horrible, horrible owner.

I'd love a dog, but I live on my own and go to school full time and work part-time so I wouldn't have time to take care and train a dog and such. I have a cat because all I gotta do is clean her litter and feed her and make sure she doesn't scratch my shit.
I'm both a dog and cat person though, I just won't have a dog for a long time because cats are easier to work with on my schedule haha.

Gryphon
05-12-2008, 12:34 AM
No, basically, I have school both morning classes and nights, then rehearsals, then work, along with any gigs that come up. I'm far from lazy, I just think a dog deserves more attention than feeding it. Cats can survive only seeing their masters every so often, dogs go nuts if their gone longer than like 3 hours.
I was just messing around. I know exactly what you mean. I can't wait to get done with college and have a steady job so that I can get a dog. For the time being, ferrets are the best, if you can get more than one. They keep each other company, and they'll play with you whenever you do manage to get time. They just need a lil bit of room. Plus, they do some fucked up funny things.

I love both cats and dogs. I like cats because they're laid back and almost self relient, but I like dogs because they're the exact opposite. I live in an area where there aren't many parks or walkways, so I've only had cats, because I'd probablty have to take a bus to get to a place where I could have a nice walk with a dog. I think that if I could walk a dog, I'd have a hard time choosing between a cat or dog. All in all, I think I like cats better though, just because they're smaller, easier to satisfy, and some can get just as attached as dogs can, so I like cats better.

Sort of, but not quite. It's just some days I'll want to go out and play, which would be good days to have a dog, but I have lazy days where I'll want to lay around, sleep, and watch T.V, which would be good days to have a cat.

I like both cats and dogs. I own a cute Siamese and when I have the room, I am hoping to get a puppy, preferably a Corgie. Cute little fuckers. Though I do have a stronger preference for cats.
I really hate cats, they do my head in. The most boring animal ever. Now dogs, on the other hand, are always really appreciative of whatever you do for them. My dog is the laziest dog ever, he sleeps 23 hours a day, only waking to go for a walk or eat. But he's always happy to see you whatever the weather.
Conclusion; cats are evil. Dogs are man's best friend.

I'm absolutely a cat person. I have many as a pet, and I used to work in a vet where took care of the cats up for adoption. Though I love dogs, I find them much harder work to train.
I used to have the perfect dog, he was lazy and very submissive. When he passed away we got a dog with dominance issues. I love him, but he's a bit of a handful. When you try to dicipline him (like making him get off the furniture) he grows and attempts to bite. When I need to dicipline my cats, I can either spray them or make a loud noise to scare them off... and they'd never bite.
Even the feral cats I worked with were less likely to bite than my dog.
I still like dogs though.

Did you get this from one of those personality quizzes on Facebook or something? Please don't tell me you judge someone's personality based on what type of pet they have. Ridiculous.
I voted for cats. My cat is pretty easy to have around, and she's friendly and quiet. I like dogs, but at the moment I have no time for a dog. Good God no, just personal belief.
According to people who remove dead bodies from homes, whenever there's a case where the person died and the body remained for a while, the cat ALWAYS starts eating the body. Dogs on the other hand have been found starved to death next to their dead owners.

I like cats way more than dogs. You have to earn a cat's respect.
And I think dogs being more loyal is debatable. My cat comes to greet me everyday when I get home. =^.^=
I can't prove he wouldn't eat my remains, though. But if he did, I think such an act would be justifiable. How the hell else would he get fed if he were trapped in the house? That's called being resourceful.
I like dogs to a lesser extent. As long as they aren't overly friendly or aggressive, then they're pretty awesome too.

I'm not saying that I would hate being eaten by a cat or anything, I still love dogs and what not. But If I end up ever buying a cat, I want it to eat me if I ever die. A dead body is as useless as a spork(except no one admits it). So really what's wrong with an animal that eats a dead person?

Animals can eat dead people and people can eat dead animals and get away with it. But when you start eating dead people, society spits at you like cockroach.

Cats would do that. My cat would.
My cat, before she passed away, was very smart, she knew my moods and would comfort me when I was sad by curling up in my lap or nuzzling my face when I was crying.
I am a cat person and I voted cats, but I will say that both dogs and cats have unique personalities, just like people. So it's hard to really say "Oh, cats would eat you if you're dead and dogs most definitely wouldn't." I'm betting that the reason for that statistic is that most people who die in their home are horders. Most horders horde cats (although there was that case of 800 dogs in the doublewide) and don't/can't care for them very well so a higher percentage of people 'being eaten' by cats is just because hording cats is far far more common than dog hording.

Most horders horde cats (although there was that case of 800 dogs in the doublewide) and don't/can't care for them very well so a higher percentage of people 'being eaten' by cats is just because hording cats is far far more common than dog hording.
Or maybe it's because CATS SUCK.
I must have been high when I wrote this. Obviously dogs. My first Golden knocked me out of the road when I was a toddler, so I wouldn't get hit by a car. Well, it'd be slightly more touching if she got hit in my place, but nonetheless, dogs forevah.

I love cats! Cats are litter trained and don't shit in the middle of the sidewalk constantly. Cats don't need walks. Cats are intelligent in a human-like way and actually can have personalities. Cats can also be fucking hilarious. Is there a LOLDOGS.com? I don't think so.

I'd like to know if there is scientific proof that cats are smarter than dogs as people seem to like to imply.
I hate cats. Apart from being slightly biased because I'm allergic to them, I've also never liked how they are aloof and always scratching. I looked after a friend's cat for a month and it used to rub against my leg when it wanted food and that's it, which is why when my friend returned the cat wouldn't come near me again. User!
Sure dogs are smellier and not all toilet trained, but they're compasionate. I like that they follow you around the house, lick you to say hello, go into an angry fit of barking when you leave, and comfort you when you're sad.
Now both sound like people but I ask you which of those two descriptions sounds more the sort you would like to be around?

Cats are probably smarter than dogs are, but dogs are more lovable. I don't know what I would do if my dog Pippin died, because we raised him from a puppy and we've been through so much together. I have five dogs now (SSHHH! It's illegal where I live to have more than four) and I couldn't stand to part with any of them.

Cats piss me the hell off. The only time they're intelligent is when it comes to getting their way.
Dogs are just generally happy when you're around. The trade-off is they generally smell worse, though cats always smell like fucking ammonia.
Then again, if we based caring and affection on what we smelled like after touching or petting something, nobody would ever play with girls' vaginas.
Dogs.

Cats are adorable. They go in a litterbox, or can even be toilet trained. They don't slobber (like dogs), they don't require a lot of attention (like dogs), you don't really have to get a sitter for them and pay extra money when you go on vacation (like dogs). They're the cheaper pet! And they're cute when they make noises, as opposed to ear-splitting, annoying barking that makes you want to take a staple-remover to your brain. Cats are superior. They're clean, pretty, soft, meow, are easy to take care of and you don't have to worry about housetraining them for the most part. And they bring you presents in the form of dead mice! So you know your house is being taken care of in the vermin department. I don't know, I find that sort of cute.

My cat is practically my best friend, when I come home from school she comes running over for a pet and a cuddle, she sleeps in my bed, and when I have to go away for a few days she stays in my bedroom except to get food or to go pee. My dogs are pretty cool though, when I come home they get ridiculously over excited and jump on me so that I nearly fall down (and when I actually do fall down I get a thorough face licking). Therefore I like both cats and dogs, because both are loyal in their own way and both make you feel exceedingly loved when you take care of them properly.

According to people who remove dead bodies from homes, whenever there's a case where the person died and the body remained for a while, the cat ALWAYS starts eating the body. Dogs on the other hand have been found starved to death next to their dead owners.
Dogs 4 life.
soooo basically dogs are retarded.
Cats - their only choice is to eat the body or hope someone randomly walks into the house and feeds them.
Dogs - they have this thing called a BARK. its pretty loud and usually it pisses people off enough to complain about it. soooo the dumbass dog decides to sit there dying of starvation rather than "speak" for an hour or 2 and save himself (and maybe even the person depending on how they died)

Dogs are too much work. They constantly need attention and having to be walked. Cats are just more chill and relaxed. Plus they couldn't care less if you don't pay attention to them. My mom has two dogs and if they don't get attention all the time, they freak out and whine constantly.
Cats all the way.
soooo basically dogs are retarded.
No, cats are just unloyal bastards.
I really hate cats now. I moved to a house with two cats that arent declawed and I've just about taken a pair of nail clippers to their toes. Dogs beat cats out now. Dogs are also friendlier.

In further news of dog's superiority.
A toddler lost in the Virginia woods was back home safe Sunday thanks to two puppies who kept him warm through a harrowing night of freezing temperatures.
Jaylynn Thorpe, 3, wandered away from his baby-sitter at 4 p.m. Friday and was missing for 21 hours as hundreds of friends, family and law enforcement officials searched for him in the thick woods of Halifax County, fearing the worst.
"The only thing we wanted to do was just keep searching until we found him," Halifax County Sheriff Stanley Noblin told reporters.
Jaylynn's frantic family knew time was not on its side.
"We didn't forget the issue that 17 degrees was almost unbearable," said his father, James Thorpe.
"People all over the State of Virginia was down there looking for that child. For a while there, one time, I didn't know whether they would find him or not," said the child's grandmother and guardian, Katherine Elliot.
Officials said the lost little boy and the two family puppies wandered up to a mile in the dark, even across a highway, but it wasn't until Saturday afternoon that members of the search team found him sitting by a tree, the two puppies nestled against him.
The little boy didn't say anything, according to rescue team member Jerry Gentry, but instead "just opened his arms up like, 'I'm ready to go.'"
"When I first saw him, he was like, 'Momma, I got cold. I slept in the woods last night. The puppies kept me warm.' He told me that ... the dogs slept up against him. And I'm sure the body heat kept him warm," said his mother, Sarah Ingram.
Billie Jo Roach, another member of the search party that found the boy, said the puppies refused to leave his side.
As the child was placed in an ambulance to be taken to a local hospital for examination, "The puppies were watching where he went.
"Where he went, they went," Roach said.
As word went out that the child was alive and well, family members cheered and cried for joy.
"Praise the Lord! Welcome home, Jaylynn!" yelled his aunt, Amy Zimmerman.
Close to 300 people from North Carolina and Virginia joined in the search to find Jaylynn.
"I love you! God bless you," Ingram told the rescue teams.
"I think I just said, 'Thank you Lord' ... for us to have another chance!" said the child's father.
The boy spent Saturday night under observation at Halifax Regional Hospital and chowed down on a double cheeseburger, a hot dog, strawberry ice cream and French fries.
Meanwhile, the furry heroes, their tails wagging, were rewarded with food.
"I definitely call this a miracle," said Noblin.
When's the last time you heard a cat do something like that? Yeah, never.
