Comic Competition

Okay, similar to the Spriting Contest this will pit the best comic-writers against each other. It's 5:30ish right now so I'll give you all until noon tomorrow to sign up.

I'd like to start with 16 people but if we have 13 - 15 at noon tomorrow we'll delay the start so we can start with 16. If we have 12 the last 4 will have their names reserved for the next round.

Instructions:
I'll give you a topic or an idea and you need to make a comic about it. You'll be marked on:

Joke - The funnier the better.
Art - The less I want to gouge my eyes out the better.
Creativity/Predictability - If it's the first panel and I guess the punchline, good luck next time.

The Spriting Contest has a 24 hour deadline but that's a bit long for a comic. When you sign up I want you to say your timezone so if we're all on at about the same time we can make the deadline shorter.

- Does the comic have to be new and created after the competition starts?
- Does the comic have to be in C&H style?
- Who is judging? Many people have different senses of humor, so perhaps multiple votes? I dunno.
- Oh and that whole no-PM thing. Yeah.

I wonder how this'll be structured.

It might be tourney style, kinda like how the sprite contest is, where people are paired against eachother.

It might also be points championship, where it's a free for all for everyone, and the winners get points accordingly.

I think that tourney is more structured, but maybe he has a system I didn't even think of.

Me and my brother will be judging and believe me, we have a very different sense of humour (see that "u", I'm Canadian.)

5 points for art, 5 points for creativity/predictability, 5 points for the joke.

Reading Relaps' post gave me an idea, instead of having just 8 or 16 people we let everyone in. We have 15 people right now so if we started this second we would start with 15. I would give you guys 3 topics and you guys make the three comics. We'll give you a score out of 45 (15 x 3) and post it. The top 8 move onto the tournament where you're paired off against one another.

If we have more than 16 we do the same team with the 3 comics except we narrow down to 16 people and start the tournament.

If you have already posted here and want to join just edit your post to say, "I'm in." or something like that. At 9 PM (8:46 now (that's AM by the way)) I'll count up the members and I'll give you the 3 topics (unless we have exactly 16 people.

PLEASE NOTE THAT: There will be a 24 hour deadline, all comics are to be posted here. If we are doing the 3 topic one (3 comics, each with a different topic) you MUST post all 3 comics at once, it'll be easier to judge that way.

How about reading some replies and you would know my account got TOed for 1 day. You're in, don't worry about it.

Killer, the 3 comics in 1 day starts today around 9:30 when I get my account back and ends Wednesday at noon. That's over 36 hours for 3 comics and it's not school time yet. I hope that's enough time for you. :smile: The other comics will have a 24 hour deadline I just wanted it to be at noon, more convenient for now until school starts.

If for some reason you can't finish 3 comics in 36+ hours just post 1 or 2, better than nothing.

I overall did 56 comics, and won that competition.

This is nothing. These are C&H guys. The topic is given to you. Average comic should take half hour, maximum.

I wasn't complaining about the art aspect, they're stick figures. I just couldn't think of jokes in the the 4 hours I would have had to submit. I'm a slow thinker, but I'm fine now with the 8 hours I get with your 36.
