So, as a lot of other people, I'm into photography. Albeit I have a bad camera, I still love taking scenic pictures. I thought I'd make this thread to let people show others their favourite photos, and the stories behind them.
So, these are my two favourites:
Boats (http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q136/pyro-gyro/DSCN1675.jpg): I took this on a sunny Beach in Cape Verde (near Africa), and the atmosphere was excellent. Cape Verde is a country that is in the final stages of becoming a developed country, so small trade is common, mostly fishing.
Market (http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q136/pyro-gyro/DSCN1650.jpg): Once again, from Cape Verde. I loved the atmosphere too, the story is similar to the Boats photo, only there were a lot of under-canvas markets, with giant sacks of beans and maize.

Are these your own favorites? Or is it other photographers?
Owen, your work has lots of potential but what I would try doing is approaching a shot from different angles and lengths, to try and vary your outcomes.
Willow (http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs18/i/2007/197/7/e/Willow_by_TimesAnIllusion.jpg)
This is one of my favorites because it was such a simple photo that I took in just the right angle for it to look amazing in my perspective.
Marble (http://fc05.deviantart.com/fs13/i/2007/041/6/0/Green_by_TimesAnIllusion.jpg)
This is another one of my favorites because I had put the most work into it, annoying my brother to try and get the shot just right, his hands center and level, and trying to find the perfect window to stand beside, I think the effort paid off.

These are photos from a trip I took to California last summer with my dad. Cali is nothing if not picturesque. They also turned out pretty cool with a little photoshop work.
Into the distance (http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/2664/dsc00968fl6.jpg)
One of my favorite self-pictures, just ignore the very bottom (it's a car hood). At Twin Peaks in San Francisco, which is incredible for pictures. Photoshopped (http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/8625/lookoutcopynf1.jpg).
Tea Garden (http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/5202/dsc00821gk6.jpg)
An awesome picture from the Japanese Tea Garden (also in San Francisco). Photoshopped (http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/8854/awowoa9.jpg).

Blazing Sky (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/120/306495535_25a93d912e_o.jpg)
I just love this photo. It was raining that day and I guess the sun went down just as the rain stopped which resulted in the red sky.
Jacaranda (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/118/311029946_262041f7da_o.jpg)
This one was one of the first photos I've taken. I think it was in my first 50 or so photos and it still remains my favourite.

Those are really cool persepctives Urser, I love them.
Grass (http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/9848/thingrassbygheorghelazaaq9.jpg)
I was at a cabin in the mountains. I don't think I have to detail the story.
Trees (http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/4586/brightlightbygheorghelawd5.jpg)
In a train, I had a hard time making this picture without my reflection in the window.

Sorry, I didn't mention the photos had to be your own - no-one's disobeyed that, just to clear it up for Random Hero.
Urser, your "grass" one was so brilliant.
Antisaint, I've been to those Teagardens, and I can tell why that's one of your favourites.
Nice work everyone, I really didn't expect such a good outcome whilst making this thread.

Lamb, those appear to be the same photo, neither title of which fits. Should probably recheck that. Anyway, I'm happy to be full of myself.
Fire Breath- probably already posted in a thread before, definitely the coolest picture I've taken. It's one of the extremely few I've seen in the display after taking and thought 'that's a keeper'. http://www.kgpphoto.com/spgm/gal/Photography/011_letter.jpg
Night, Humboldt Bay- http://www.kgpphoto.com/spgm/gal/Night/1_008.jpg
I really like night pictures, this is probably one of the best of those. Others are interesting in various ways, but this one is just pleasing in my mind. Works great printed flat and matted with dark blue/purple, black frame.

Crap, I edited the good one in.
The photo that appears is trees, it fits.

Only one is perspective, the plant thingy.

It does, my bad. And I'm glad it was caught, since macro things are cool. And thanks, Pyro... maybe you should buy one. Since being broke sucks.
Urser, your "grass" one was so brilliant.
Urser doesn't have grass, I have grass

I didn't mean type of shot, I just meant the perspective and angle of the shot in general.

Urser- I remember those from the last photography thread, and they are good. The blazing sky one especially turned out quite well, and I always fall for texturing like the second one.

User your photography skills are amazing. I love the first one.
Sorry Urser but I'm tired with the massive ass kissing going on.
Urser's first picture is one of location and time, not skill... The only skill that may have been put was to avoid anything that wasn't the tree.. and the second one is out of focus and has no point of interest, and you need a point of interest in perspective shots.
Stop rimming him because he can draw cute creatures.
I really hate it when photography threads pop up. People just take snap shots of random things or sunsets without really paying attention to composition or the things that make up good photos.
Some of the pictures in this thread made me cringe. Sure the scenery is nice in them, but that doesn't make them good photos.
That being said,
Random Hero: I liked Willow. Neat perspective.
Casalen: The fire breathing one is really cool.
Now for my own:
Piano (http://i25.tinypic.com/2zdt26w.jpg)
Music Stand (http://i26.tinypic.com/dxlhr7.jpg)

Photography is going the way of video production and editing- since it's easy to get pictures and video, there's a huge influx of people who are considered able to do those things, even if the quality isn't there. While letting out creativity is good for some that couldn't do so otherwise, that can be a problem for those of us who need media markets in order to get rich. However, a lot of people, regardless of skill level, end up with good stuff- there isn't much so far here that reeks of bad.
Also in response to the above; piano didn't really do much for me, but the music stand is really nice lighting. The only thing I could see different is having the stand completely level, could work well for that one. Although, looking closer, the stand might just be shaped that way. Also, what a weird looking one compared to any I've used.

abbey, I loved the piano one. The music stand wasn't as good though - I felt the glare should've been in the centre more. But I liked the colours.
