A requirement of one of my university courses was to make a weblog. Or a "blog", if you will. I was annoyed. Anyway, here it is:

http://www.legrandanimations.com/blog.html

That's right, I made my own rather than go through the trouble of signing up at yet another website like Myspace.

Things I like: My left hand, Unnameable #2
Things I don't like: Viola, Unnameable #5

I also made a cartoon sketch that's not on the blog because it's only for fun. I might put it up anyway. It was an attempt to capture a cute mid-dance pose, and I think it went well.

If you like, tell me how you'd like me to improve the look of the page. But keep it simple. For now, I'm planning to add a seperate page that just has thumbnails of every picture.

That is a pretty nice drawing, TL. Uhhh.. The right ankle looks a tad snapped. Just a thought. I don't think it's natural to move that way. But yeah, it's nice.

Nice Unnameable designs, Indeed. I especially like number 3. The eye really did it for me.

That's funny considering I got the Unnameable links all wrong. Doop.

Fixed

You did? They worked for me.
Well, They didn't work in IE, but when I opened it in Firefox, it worked fine.

I actually like the snapped ankle. It makes it look more cartoony.

I liked all the Unnamables as well, too many to pick one as a favorite!

Tyler, do you have any specific tricks for getting the body proportions right? I'm trying to teach myself how to draw people better, but arms and legs end up being too long or short and stuff like that.

Tyler_Legrand

The easiest way is to draw nude models once a week. Every day is even better but obviously more time-consuming.

My goodness Mr. Legrand, you are brilliant. Your action poses and body proportions are both flawless.

This (http://www.posemaniacs.com/pose/thirtysecond.html) is a good alternative to actual nudes.

Tyler, have you ever been to Dr Sketchy's in the valley? Instead of naked models they are burlesque models.

I was planning to go one day with my friend =D

Hey, that's neat.

No, I have not!

Burlesque? You mean... They're funny-looking models?

MistyTehMoose

*raises eyebrow*

No, dancers... Like... Dita Von Teese (http://digilander.libero.it/mc_maki/Dita_Von_Teese_021.jpg) but probably not as hot.

I should've used wikipedia instead of webster.

Your poses are so fluid, and compelling. <3

I like your monsters a lot, they show that imagination we all love.

Tyler, you're a cartoon genius in the making!
You should be at Universal Studios or something.

Burlesque? You mean... They're funny-looking models?
Ahah, yeah, they're burly models.

I also think, of the Nameless, number 2's the best. It's an original and creative shape, and the birds on it were cool. I can see why you don't like the last one, probably because it's the humanoid. But I bet most people had more conventional stuff than that.

Most of your stuff's got stickman sketches in the corner- Are they for reference when you're doing the bigger one, or are they just practicing the pose?

Tyler_Legrand
03-17-2008, 3:51 AM
Uh... I always draw the stickmen sketches before doing the bigger drawing, if that makes any difference between the two answers. If I think I could make the pose better, I redraw the stickman.

I love the little captions you put on some of the sketches. I also like the sketches. The unnameables are all very creepy and well drawn, the #4 is a little bit goofy, but he's still creepy enough to make up for it.

One of the voices in that animatic is Edd's from EddsWorld. Just clarifying.

I'm not gonna finish this. I don't need to. No loader again.

How come you don't need to finish it anymore?

Tyler_Legrand

Essentially we just animate as much as we can until the due date.

MistyTehMoose

I'm gonna do some stop motion.

This is my plan:

http://www.legrandanimations.com/SMP.html

Hopefully the stop motion will be similar in quality.

Jiggz
04-29-2008, 7:36 AM
Judging by your animations skills I think you'll find stop motion fairly easy.

You'll be using clay I assume?

Tyler_Legrand
04-29-2008, 8:34 AM
Plasticine, specifically.

Jiggz
04-29-2008, 9:14 AM
Will you be making a mechanical skeleton? Or are you just going entirely with plasticine?

Tyler_Legrand
04-29-2008, 10:47 AM
Don't think I have time to (learn how to) make a skeleton. I'm filming Thursday. :(

Wasn't planning to, anyway.
