Right, I picked up that game again where you play as two guys:

I changed the interface completely. Play INTRO first.
Now that's not a finished game or anything, I made that in about the past 6 or 7 days, which is fuckin well quick.

Now, what I want to know is, which control system's better? That one, or the original:

People've started telling me the original one's SO MUCH BETTER than the updated version. I don't see it though. I hate the original one.

Here's the thing: the lean against the wall thing doesn't seem to work as well as the "kneel down" boost. I just don't see how to time it well with the lean.

You stand still, press up and he hoists you up onto the ledge. Worse than the original system, because it requires an extra (and unecessary) keystroke to pull yourself up, doesn't let you boost-jump in a direction (just up, not left or right, old system you could boost-jump to a slightly-more-distant-than-usual platform).

New system's annoying, basically. This game's timed, and I have to waste that time - I can't stop a little short of the wall, and I have to run into it for a while before anything happens.

Also, it's restricting your level design. As I said already, a horizontal boost jump isn't possible anymore. But also, the new system makes running/dropping off a ledge impossible. Dropping is a pretty basic task across platformers, and not having it available would restrict your level design slightly: Say you have a platform in midair, and there's a gap in the middle of it with another platform beneath. With the old system you could just run off the edge. With the new system, you have to time a jump just right to get down there (or you could make us press down, then down again, which would waste time and give us extra, unnecessary keystrokes again).
You could widen the hole so you can jump down there normally, but that would make jumping to the other side difficult/impossible (we don't have that horizontal boost jump).


Also your guy doesn't barrel-roll backwards after helping the other guy onto the ledge anymore, but I assume that's accidental.

There needs to be a way to exit when you get stuck in a level. :S

Oh yea I forgot to mention that ENTER was pause. Hold ENTER to go back to the menu.

Right, this makes alot of sense now. I'll see how the old controls work in the new levels.

I gave up instantly. It's way too hard to get the leaning thing to work, I can't even get past the fucking Intro.

Change it back to the original controls and stuff, they were so much easier to work with.

It's kind of really annoying. I'm not sure why it's like that, but everything doesn't seem to work very well.

I think you should look into that.

hmm they sometimes fell of corners and in the end the level is bugged.

Improve the game in the way that they automatically stop on corners aslike in the original.

I like the walljump aslike in super mario and the boost is innovative and even more fast than in the original version. Pyroowen just press down arrow and run over that guy with the other one. It's a cool animation.

I had to play it three times until the end wasn't bugged:

I liked the game. It takes a moment to adjust, but I could beat several levels. The hardest thing was to learn how to get a boost. It was annoying but still, good game.

Prefer the original controls. The new ones are awkward.
