If you've never heard of them, they're a bluesy/alternative-rock band formed by Jack White of The White Stripes. Most have heard of their single "Steady as She Goes", but that song is only a little bit of their unique sound on their first album "Broken Boy Soldiers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_Boy_Soldiers)".
It was recently announced they are going to release a new album called "Consolers of the Lonely" in less then a week. I'm definitley gonna check it out and most likely buy it.

Here's some songs, mostly live perfomances, if you wanna check them out too:
The Level (http://youtube.com/watch?v=bqFb6VXW86Y)
Blue Veins (http://youtube.com/watch?v=3ATQFFwU0_k&feature=related)

Steady as She Goes is the only one I'm familiar with. They're basically the Arctic Monkeys with a more devoted following. They lost to RHCP a few years ago for a Grammy, and that's the last I've seen of them. Have they put out new music? Cool, I'll look for it, but not too hard :P

Same with me, I know them, I like them, but I'm not over impressed. If they would give me free music I might listen...

People don't give you music, unless you're Radiohead; but it's up to you take it.
I prefer the raconteurs to the white stripes vastly.

These guys are good but I like the White Stripes better.

I think The Raconteurs have better musical talent than the White Stripes, personally; They have better writing because it's not just all up to Jack White. Plus the drummer is much better than Meg White.

Better than The White Stripes, but that isnt hard really. Nothing special, but also nothing terrible either.

White Stripes are awesome. Seven Nation Army is one of my favorite songs. That's not really evidence, but it's a follow-up to my opinion. I actually have no evidence that one is better than the other. Oops.

Well neither do you.

My evidence was the music links and what I said two posts up. :indiff:

The Raconteurs have better writing, and they perform live excellent, contrary to the White Stripes having mild performances (great to horribly shitty).

I liked this band a while ago but i'm drifting. The video for Steady As She Goes used to make me laugh alot.

Well even though Steady As She Goes IS a good song, it fails to compare to their other songs that didn't get as much publicity. But their new album should hopefully be good and bring back some old and new fans.

Together and Yellow Sun are good songs.

I saw them when they came to Oz a few years ago, except they were touring under than name The Saboteurs, because some crappy local indie band named the Raconteurs kicked up a stink. They play a good live show.

Yeah, they are only known as The Saboteurs in Australia cause of the local band you mentioned. But everywhere else they're The Raconteurs. :hmm:

I just bought the new album, Consolers of the Lonely, and WOW. Its got more songs than the first album, but the same great quality. Jack White really does a good job with his eccentric writing with minimal synthesizers and pianos. The first single, Salute Your Solution, (http://youtube.com/watch?v=WM1fZ1iTvs0) has some of The Hive's inspired sound; hard pounding, riff grooving, fast singing... and it rocks. The guitarist, Brenden Benson also contributes with his more mellow, solemn songs like "You Don't Understand Me". Great album, I suggest you buy it.

EDIT: I've also noticed that it has more of a Blues-Rock influence than anything else. But I'm not complaining, it sounds nice and got a great feel.

The White Stripes are a minimalist band, just because they dont play complicated music doesnt mean they're bad.

I liked Consolers of the Lonely better than Broken Boy Soldiers, but I thought both were very unique and great to listen to. I LOVE anything Jack White does, and I think he and Brendan work together very well. Patrick's drumming always appealled to me, especially in Yellow Sun. I'm looking forward to what they do in the future

And check out the song Carolina Drama off of Consolers, it's one of my favorite songs ever.

I love this band and the White Stripes. It seems like I'm the only one here who prefers Broken Boy Soldiers to Consolers.

I went out and bought Broken Boy Soldier once I saw the video for Steady As She Goes. They are a great band and I'm glad Jack White is still in The White Stripes; he didn't just disband them and go to The Raconteurs.

The music video for "Level" made me go get that album. It's so much better than the CD version though :/
