Squalor in this years releases, relay reviews, banter.
Whatever you want, as long as it's civilised. Make sure to post streams/links if you're talking about a current or up and coming release. I'll probably drop by to post a few albums every other week.
Del tha Funkee Homosapien - Eleventh Hour

The guy who whips up rhymes for the Gorillaz.
The eleventh hour is Del's first release in 8 years,
though you wouldn't think that since he gives a slouched
performance for the most part.
It may just be me but I hardly felt that exuberant aesthetic
he has, common on his earlier releases and with Deltron 3030.
I hope the new Deltron album if released this year,
isn't a half arsed attempt to keep fans happy
like this seems to be.

Darnielle doesn't have a particularly distinct voice, no range, and interprets the songs like any other regular Joe would. Though Darnielle 's charm is just that. He's nothing special. He is just an average joe. This album is still lo-fi folk despite the production. I guess songs in the key of kermit the frog aren't for everyone; but I find these songs to be charming.

This is a beautiful roots album. I guess its kind of Shins-esque, how they seem to have this atmosphere that always makes me think of a sea breeze. Although this could be a continuation of their first album in terms of ambience and texture, it's a huge step forward in terms of them finding their own personal style. I've found their lyrics very incongruous with the music, not to mention embarrassingly clichéd, but they seem to have at least learned to make very good use of vocals.
