Muxtape (http://www.muxtape.com/) is an online mixtape creator and a fantastic way to share and discover music. So create a muxtape and share it here. Some info on the tracks would be great too!

Mine is a mixture of stuff I've been listening to quite a bit lately. There's a pretty decent variety of genres, ranging from indie to metal to experimental.

http://mattmelvin.muxtape.com/

1) We Versus the Shark - You Don't Have to Kick It
A combination of math rock and indie dance-pop or something. Technical, fun song. (It's not 0:00, regardless of what Muxtape says)

2) Les Savy Fav - The Equestrian
Indie post-punk or whatever the hell that means. The opening riff really gets you going and it keeps up for entire track.

3) Test Icicles - Circle Square Triangle
Dance-punk with a little indie and hardcore thrown in. This song makes you move your ass.

4) Built by Snow - All the Weird Kids Know
Think Blue album-era Weezer sung by NASA engineers. Fun, nerdy rock.

5) Kaki King - Life Being What It Is
I could go on and on about Kaki. Extremely mellow, but technical guitar work. And one of the few tracks from her new CD that she sings on. (I'm seeing her tomorrow!)

6) Jaguar Love - Welcome to the Birdskull Palace
The artsy singer and guitarist from The Blood Brothers' new band. Experimental by genre, but you can still feel their BB influences in the new stuff. Interesting music.

7) Pre - And Prolapse
Super-energetic hardcore punk with a little asian nymophomaniac frontwoman.

8) Mastodon - Blood and Thunder
Fucking. Metal.

9) Danzig - I'm the One
Danzig's always had a pretty direct influence from Johnny Cash and Elvis, but this song makes it really obvious. It's not his most popular song amongst fans, but it's really a great track.

10) Gallows - Orchestra of Wolves
There have been very few good punk bands in the last few years. Gallows is one of them.

11) Be Your Own Pet - The Kelly Affair
A rock band that's not quite punk but close to it, BYOP is a bunch of kids making really fun music. In a way they remind me of Tsunami Bomb and old school No Doubt when they used to be a ska band. But mainly because of their energetic frontwomen.

12) The Blood Brothers - Giant Swan
Experimental hardcore. This song is epic.

Great program for sharing songs. I'm currently uploading my mixtape, for some reason it is slow as shit. So far generic songs, so hopefully I'll get some more unknown stuff to share. So far from yours I like Orchestra of Wolves by Gallows. It's pretty crazy.

Edit: Thank you for that mixtape (muxtape?). You just added plenty of new songs to my music library, along with other songs from the same band.

And here is mine, I know the bands aren't really that obscure, and many people have probably heard these songs or songs by them, but I that's all I got on this cpu:

http://hawke.muxtape.com/

Okay: Unfortunatley, muxtape doesn't recognize some of these songs, so I guess I should have my reasons for adding them aswell:
(Bold songs appear as unknown on muxtape)

Violent Femmes -Add it Up: This is kind of a mix between awesome punkish type music and comedy. I enjoy it immensly.

Toadies - Tyler: This song is pretty mellow, but it also rocks pretty hard too. I don't know too much about where most music goes in terms of genre(unless its completely obvious) But this is cool.

Massive Attack -Teardrops: Theme song for Assassin's Creed. It's pretty mellow and fantastic ;)

Ted Nugent - Stranglehold: It's fucking Stranglehold. You can not not like this song.

Marilyn Manson - The Dope Show: This song is pretty dope (lol). Although I just recently started listening to M.M he reminds me a lot of NiN, which comes to no surprise. But he rocks hard.

The Strokes - Reptilia: I'm assuming most people have heard this song before, but it's still pretty good.

Still Remains - The Worst is Yet to Come: Best opening ever

Loudon Wainwright III - Daughter: While its mellow and calming it still goes into that rockish area

Wu Tang Clan - Shimmy Shimmy Ya: Shimmy Shimmya Ya, bitch

Mindless Self Indulgence - Stupid MotherFucker: Awesome song, pretty upbeat

M.I.A. - 20 Dollar: A wierd song, however quite interesting

The Living End - Carry Me Home: I just uploaded a random song. It turned out to be this cool one.

Go to organize and you can rename the tracks correctly. Nice accidental inclusion of The Living End, though. They were my first live show ever.

1) Notorious B.I.G- Hypnotize
Classic Rap Track
2)Serj Tankian- Lie Lie Lie
Recently got into this guy's music. My favorite song of his.
3)Jedi Mind Tricks- Uncommon Valor
Really deep track, cool how it tells a true story.
4)Eminem-313
A track chock full of jaw-dropping wordplay.
5)Immortal Technique- The Prophecy
Clever, witty yet chill and nice flow. What more could you want in a rap.
6)D12-American Psycho
Twisted and sick, combined with Eminem's trademark lyrical genius. Awesome song.
7)Dr. Dre-Bang Bang
Gangsta rap before it became shit.
8)Atmosphere- Scapegoat
Chill, minimalistic tone with a strong social and political message.
9)Atmosphere- Trying to find a balance
Profound and emotional.
10)Cypress Hill- Ganja Bus
Catchiest fucking song I've heard in a while. I could listen to this song hours on end.
11)Outkast- The Whole World
Great hook and brings back memories (for me at least).
12)Serj Tankian- Sky is Over
really cool song, and fitting since after the tape is over. :fmita:

Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong - Summertime
By far the most amazing version of Summertime in existence. The contrast between Ella's clear and beautiful voice and Louis' gravelly bellow is fantastic.

The Animal Collective - For Reverend Green
Unique, somewhere between Arcade Fire and underground experimental indie, if such a thing really exists :P

Belle & Sebastian - Expectations
Chilled out sound, interesting lyrics.

Bob Dylan - Subterranian Homesick Blues
Need an explanation?

The Doors - Hello, I Love You
A classic, even people who've never heard The Doors () know this song

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Date with A Night

Foals - Hummer
Imagine Arctic Monkeys fused with Test Icicles.

The Libertines - What Katie Did
I don't care that Pete Dogherty is a complete waste of space, The Libertines were amazing and this is one of their finest songs.

Foals - Balloons

Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna
This is from the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack. The first time I heard it I was blown away, I hate to sound pretentious but it's an extremely emotional piece for an instrumental composition.

LCD Soundsystem - North American Scum
<3

Calvin Harris - Acceptable In the 80's (Edit)
Fun, techno-y pop. Calvin's the man.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Date with A Night
Love love looooove these songs... Half of them I've heard before but they're great anyway.

I would create a muxtape but it's taking AGES to upload a song so I'll post mine up later and edit this post at some point.

I've put my mixtape up now. Not sure whether the songs will work.

http://zebbs.muxtape.com/

The Blues Brothers - Shake A Tail Feather.
My dad gave me the collection and I was a little skeptical of it at first. But, this is turning into one of my favourite CD's. Good rhythm.

Muse - Sober.
A song I recently found. Love Muse, first & best live band I've seen.

Less Than Jake - Malt Liquor.
Great Riff. Good band.

Foo Fighters - Hey, Johnny Park!
Not my favourite song of theirs but definitely worth a listen.

Feeder - Godzilla.
Unusual song but still a good feeder track.

RATM - Know Your Enemy.
My favourite Rage track. Not as familiar as some of their others which is why I put it on their.

Maximo Park - Apply Some Pressure
Probably the only Geordie band that I would ever listen to. Good song that made its way onto the SSX soundtrack. Pretty poor album but this is one of the good songs on their

Billy Talent - Fallen Leaves
A very loud Canadian band. I bought this CD not knowing what to expect, not many people I knew had ever heard of them. Good album.

Sum 41 - All She's Got.
My favourite band growing up. This is the only album I like of theirs to date. Quick tempo from the start.

White Stripes - Girl, you have no Faith in Medicine.
Bought this album ages ago, but only heard this song on the Skate soundtrack and loved it.

Tokyo Dragons - Come on Baby.
My friend sent me some songs over and they have an interesting sound.

Gorillaz - 19-2000
The quick version.

Jesus christ, that took forever.

I think their server is getting a sudden influx of new visitors, so it's a little slow.

Foals - Hummer
Imagine Arctic Monkeys fused with Test Icicles.

Foals - Balloons

It's an easy description, but really, that's exactly what they sound like.

Billy Talent - Fallen Leaves
A very loud Canadian band. I bought this CD not knowing what to expect, not many people I knew had ever heard of them. Good album.

I think Billy Talent did a lot of touring with Alexisonfire.

Tokyo Dragons sound awful. That singer hurt to listen to.

I'm making the last touches to mine,
I've tried to work up from delicate to abrasive.
I'll definitely give feedback tomorrow on
other people's mixes.

2)Serj Tankian- Lie Lie Lie

9)Atmosphere- Trying to find a balance
Profound and emotional.
11)Outkast- The Whole World

(2) Did he separate from SOAD, i wouldn't know
(6) Personally I liked Kon Artist more on that song
(9) Second song i heard from him, been a fan ever since
(11) Me Too

Didn't turn out as well as I hoped.
The delicate to abrasive thing
didn't work, especially when I had
one song to piece shoegaze with
the latter.

Make sure you use headphones.

http://muxrape.muxtape.com/

Jeremy Enigk - Abegail Anne
Former SDRE frontman takes a stand on his own.
I like to listen to this when it's raining.

Pedro the Lion - Of Up and Coming Monarchs
Bazan conjures sombre yet pleasing gems from time to time.

Carissa's Wierd - Silently Leaving the Room
Heart wrenching boohoo I have cataract, the airy whispers
are hauntingly beautiful.

Fleet Foxes - Mykonos
In vain of the Decemberists perhaps,
for me this is just catchy and fun;
and it reminds me of the sea.

CAN - Vitamin C
Would you like some krautrock with that Egg?

Andrew Bird - Fake Palindromes
He's a professional whistler,
insanely talented guy.

My Bloody Valentine - Only Shallow
Not to be confused with bullet for my valentine :ahe:
Have fun gazing at your shoes for a while.

Sunny Day Real Estate - Friday
Godfathers of 'second wave'.
Short blasts of adrenalin yum yum.

Fugazi - Waiting Room
I'm hardcore and I shall head butt you squire.

Indian Summer - Angry Son
I'M STORMING INTO YOUR ROOM
FROLICKING ON YOUR FILET MIGNON
SAY WHAT BITCH

City of Caterpillar - And You're Wondering How a Top Floor Could Replace Heaven
The conceptual build up throughout this song volleys
emotion left right and centre. Highly fickle.

Elliott Smith - Abused
See what I did?
Smack my bitch up
and play something sweet ^-^

Here's mine: http://abbey.muxtape.com

Parlour Steps - The Garden
Very folky, very mellow, very cute. (and not 0:00)

The New Pornographers - Adventures in Solitude
The New Pornographers have so many good songs, I just went witht he one that had the highest play count. This song is really folky in parts and just all around amazing.

Sweet Thing - Change of Seasons
This song is fast, energetic, and extremely addictive.

New Buffalo - Recovery
Upbeat and cheerful.

Lights - Last Thing on Your Mind
My sister got me into Lights. She's very pop-ish. (not 0:00)

Shiny Toy Guns - Starts With One
I used to love Shiny Toy Guns but I got kind of bored of them. I stumbled across this song not too long ago and it made me get back into them.

Ingrid Michaelson - Keep Breathing
Mellow. Really good lyrics.

The Cinematic Orchestra - To Build a Home
This is just the radio edit of the song (it's actually about 6 minutes long) but it's what got me into the Cinematic Orchestra. Amazing vocals.

Sufjan Stevens - Chicago
If you've heard Sufjan Stevens you've heard this song or one of its many versions.

Patrick Watson - Luscious Life
This is the guy singing in The Cinematic Orchestra song I put up. His solo songs are amazing. I couldn't decided between Luscious Life and The Great Escape.

Architecture in Helsinki - Maybe You Can Owe Me
Although it was in a shitty movie (I Know Who Killed Me), it's a good song. Architecture in Helsinki is definitely worth listening to.

Young Love - Close Your Eyes
Fun song. Not 0:00.

i would've said the same thing

http://blakkohm.muxtape.com/

1) Thirsty Fish - Snuggleberry Bushes
-Found this album completely by chance and it is honestly one of the best I've heard in a while. And it was themed, this was the only song that didn't have to do with fish or water.

2) Blue Scholars - Inkwell (Crashed Cop Car remix)
-Just the name of the remix should be enough.

3) Evidence - A Moment in Time (ft. Planet Asia)
-I love how he starts it out saying his parents never played the Santa Tooth Fairy bullshit with him.

4) Pack Fm - Plucking Daisies
-Song is super chill.

5) D12 - Revelation
-My favorite song by the group.

6) J. Black - Hellbound (ft. Masta Ace, Eminem)
-If you haven't heard it, go to the like now, and go straight to this song.

7) Tonedeff - Porcelain
-Boof posted about it in the Great storytelling Songs thread, and I liked it.

8) Shing02 - Lift The Fog Up (Eccy Rmx)
-My favorite song of his. Most of his fans say Luv(sic) pt 3, but in my opinion you have to be in a certain mood to listen to it. Both are great songs though.

9) Slipknot - Before I Forget
-I just like this song... alot.

10) Murs - The Pain
"...But you lookin at my boy who got two kids at home and,
I know how it goes, here's his number telephone him,
He does his girls dirt, and I know you smell it on him,
But every bitch needs a dog, so I guess that's why you want him."

11) iCON the Mic King - Black Arts (ft. Jus Allah)
-I'm not really a fan of Jus's new "Vampire-Style" rap, but it actually works in this song.

12) Atmosphere - Little Man
-Just listen to it.

I laughed at muxrape... hilarious.

Benjaman

Meh, I listen to mostly older stuff, so it I tried to find at least a few songs that were different.

http://benjaman36.muxtape.com/

1) Catch 22 - 9mm and a Three Piece Suit: Ska, most of their songs are good.

2) Lou Bega - Baby Keep Smiling: The guy who did Mambo #5, kind of odd.

3) The Addicts - Get Addicted: I had a better song by the Addicts, but it's in a different format. So this one isn't as good, but if you look into getting some of the songs, this isn't the best they have.

4) Men at Work - Be Good Johnny: Everyone's heard of Men at Work, but this song is catchy, and the music video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Tj9SDJ5SGTM) is really creepy.

5) David Bowie & Queen - Under Pressure: Possibly the best "duet" ever, their voices match really well.

6) The Misfits - Saturday Night: Something a bit different from the Misfits' usual.

7) The Misfits - Don't Open 'Til Doomsday: Another Misfits song thats different.

I'll update it soon with more songs. BATMANTAS: It turned out Ra's Al Ghul was innocent.

Dr. Dre- Bang Bang
Gangsta rap before it became shit

No it was shit before this album and some songs on the album are that gangsta crap.
Not this one though.

I just found some some songs I liked and threw this together.

http://raxo.muxtape.com/

1)Eminem- Infinite
This my favorite Eminem song and it has some of the sickest rhymes I've heard. Slow but but the flow is really good with some really good lyrics.

2)Mos Def-Travelling Man
Emotional hip hop song about going way from loved ones and missing them. Mos Def is awesome and this is one of the reasons why, his emotion

3)Foo Fighters-Stacked Actors
This isn't their best but I find this song very addictive and worth a listen.

4)CunninLynguists-Seasons (ft. Masta Ace)
Great song by the best rap group with the worst name. Song describing the course of rap history in through of the four seasons of the year.

5)Immortal Technique-Peruvian Cocaine
A story song with all the different rappers playing the different roles. The story is of the path cocaine takes to get to America. From the Peruvian working in the coca fields to the "gangsta" selling the coke.

6)Cafe Tacuba-Bar Tacuba
It's in Spanish so if you want to hear you should hear it for its catchiess. The song is about a guy waiting in a bar lonely reminiscing about his girlfriend wondring he's become a drunk.

7)Lupe Fisaco Ft. Jonah Matrenga-The Instrumental
Story song about a kids whose voice has been taking and he's controlled by a "mysterious box".

8)Nas- It Ain't Hard To Tell
It has amazing lyricism that needs several listens to catch and the it has a great beat. One of my favorite hip hop songs.

9)Cunninlynguists-Lynguistics
Short hip hop song with a catchy beat and some great braggadocio lyrics

10)Juanes and Nelly Furtado-Fotografia
Another song in Spanish. A love song of two people thinking about each other trough pictures of each other. Great melody if you don't know Spanish.

11)Regina Spektor-Fidelity
Fairly popular song and pretty catchy.

12)Iron Horse-Enter Sandman
A great bluegrass cover of Metallica's awesome song. Sure it's bluegrass but it's still very infectious.

1. The Selector - Too Much Pressure
A kick arse ska band. The album this came off was produced by members of The Specials.

2. The Beat - Mirror In The Bathroom
Not a well known ska band but still, very good.

3. Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Black Sabbath blow my mind.

4. D.R.I - Beneath the Wheel
Pioneers of Crossover thrash, this band has great thrashy riffs coupled with fast tempos, this is one of my favorite songs by this band.

5. Public Enemy - Bring The Noise
First heard this song when I played THP2 and I've liked Public Enemy ever since then.

6. Toots and the Maytals - 54-46 (Thats My Number)
A reggae song about toots getting caught holding drugs, being sent to jail for the offense and being given the jail number 54-46.

7. Suicidal Tendencies - War Inside My Head
Another great Crossover band though not as good as they used to be.

8. N.W.A - Straight Outta Compton
Just good hip hop.

9. Limp Wrist - I Love Hardcore Boys
The first Queercore band (and the only as far as I know). Queercore is more a philosophy then a genre. It shuns all the gays who go clubbing and prance around in pink shirts. Limp Wrist themselves are just really good hardcore.

10. Municipal Waste - Sadistic Magician
Off their new album this song was one of the standouts, one of the best thrash bands out in recent times.

11. Bad Brains - Banned In D.C
This band have been hanging around for awhile, longer then most of their contemporaries, but they have never have been able to beat their first album which this track comes off.

12. Beastie Boys - Eggman
Beastie Boys are just good nothing else I can really say.

Soul

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What a Wonderful World
I just love this song to much to not have included it in my muxtape such a calming and peaceful song.

A Tribe Called Quest - Award Tour
What can I say about ATCQ I love them they are probably one of my favorite rap groups. I guess you can classify this song as a bit of jazz rap at least thats how I take it.

Silversun Pickups - Well Thought Out Twinkles
I'm not really sure what to say about this song but I love it.

Streetlight Manifesto - A Moment of Silence
If you know what ska is chances are you've heard of streetlight manifesto and this song is one of my personal favorites of theirs.

RX Bandits - Only For The Night
Just some more ska on this.

The Hives - Well All Right
I love this song it always gets me really hyped up.

Wolfmother - Apple Tree
This is definitely one of my favorite songs that wolfmother has.

Infected Mushroom - Becoming Insane
This is one of the first trance songs that I heard and liked so I just had to put it on here.

Menomena - Muscle n' Flo
My god Menomena is definitely one of my favorite bands I just cant get enough of them their an experimental group and have a place in my heart alongside Streetlight Manifesto and Rush.

Minus the Bear - Women we haven't met yet
Filler song but I still like it enough to have placed it on here.

Talking Heads - And She Was
This was a last minute decision but nonetheless I love the Talking Heads and I always end up having this song stuck in my head at least once a week.

Gene Kelly - Singing in the Rain
Really one of my favorite songs of all time, its from the musical Singing in the Rain and was in A Clockwork Orange.

(4) Forgot about that song.

SOAD is on hiatus and has been since the summer. Serj put out a solo album which i enjoyed. It didn't quite measure up to a System record, but it was cool. Daron is working on a band called Scars On Broadway which has just released its first single. John is in on Scars too, but is also running a comic book website. And Shavo is working on something with RZA from the wu-tang klan...which I'm a little worried about.

Since this has almost nothing to do with Muxtape, i better make one before i get time-outed.

EDIT: The uploads are taking too long, and I have to go to guitar. Looks like timey outties for tuna.

You're still contributing to the thread, I don't think you'd be timed out for that?
What's the link to the webcom is John doing?

And a RZA/SOAD (even if it isn't the whole band, or even half) sounds cool to me. But I guess i see where you're coming from since RZA's beat aren't exactly the most energy producing, or at least not like rock.

Torpedo Comics. He's selling quite a few for just a dollar, and they range into the thousands. Apparently he has a warehouse with 2 million+ comics.

And I'm just not a rap/hiphop fan. It's a legimite form of music, but it's just not for me. I'm stuck in the 70s
That's why i'm a little apprehensive about Achozen.

EDIT: Also check out John's drums if you get a chance. He got a whole bunch of big comic book artists to fill 'em up with all their characters and what not. It's really cool actually.

Hey, everyone has their own tastes. I personally find any form of ballad to be somewhat nauseating *cough*Minutes to Midnight*cough*, and male R&B overly whiny. Now I'm off to blow 50 bucks on comics.

1.) Protest the Hero - Divinity Within
Guilty pleasure.

2.) Iron Maiden - Different World
Wanted to show love for new Maiden stuff.

3.) Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma
Just downloaded the cd and I instantly fell in love with them.

4.) Dream Theater - The Root of All Evil
For some reason it's just my favorite Dream Theater song.

5.) Bad Religion - Supersonic
I know no one else will listen to my playlist fully, but I do. The song is a nice break and I love Bad Religion.

6.) Joseph Arthur - In The Sun
Their is just something about this song that has made me love it since I first heard it.

7.) Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Eh, I don't care that it is their biggest hit, it's still my favorite song by them.

8.) Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
I can't fit all of Animals, DSotM, The Wall, or Wish You Were Here, so I picked a nice lengthy PF song.

9.) The Misfits - Die, Die My Darling
Again, a nice break from regular songs. Plus I love good punk. I was sad that none of my ska songs were mp3s, so I made do with Bad Religion and Misfits.

10.) Metallica - No Remorse
All of the non Kill 'Em All stuff were bought cds, and this is my favorite song from that album. Metallica is my favorite band too.

11.) Iced Earth - I Died For You
Oh I love all of Dark Saga, but this song always stuck with me.

12.) Sublime - Date Rape
Great closer to the playlist. Always liked Sublime and so do a lot of my friends.

Hey, everyone has their own tastes. I personally find any form of ballad to be somewhat nauseating *cough*Minutes to Midnight*cough*, and male R&B overly whiny. Now I'm off to blow 50 bucks on comics.

Heh. Nice to see someone sensible on here. Usually when I say I don't like rap music people jump down my throats, all like "How can you say you don't like a whole genre?" Etc etc.

Yeah, personally i think you're missing out, but if you don't like it, me yelling at you for not liking it probably won't help at all. Who knows, maybe you're listening to something i'm missing out on.
