View Full Version : Explosm: The Robot Attack
Benjaman
03-26-2008, 2:30 PM
A peaceful morning in Explosm City reveale itself to be o very peaceful. As Rb was taking his usual stroll down all the food kiosks in town, he was suddenly zapped by a fifty foot robot. He falls to the ground as a pile of ash, and the other residents run for the Town-Meeting-Gazebo.
MEANWHILE AT THE TOWN-MEETING-GAZEBO, CONNIENTLY LOCATED IN A LAGE, EMPY, FIELD:
"HEAR YE HEAR YE, TY FANCY GENTLEMEN (http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h81/Benjaman36/Gentlemen.jpg)!" were Die Hard's words as the townspeople all became quet. "There has bee evil afoot, and we must stop it!" cried Die Hard. "Hay guyz, iz evul bad?" asked GordonTheFree. "Yes, very bad, now go sit down." Benjaman said hurriedly. It was then when the rest of the townsfol broke out in mass hyseria. Robo Sexual and Con-Con seem to ave been getting it on behnd a tree, but the view was obscured by Spiffy13, Jewish Josh, and Shadow Priest mooin half the crowd. Whilt the people were trying to be calmed down, it was noticed that Ryuuzaki and Dresden were in an ol' fashioned bare-knuckle-brawl. This got out of hand as a close onlooker, Dauntasa, was hit in the face by badumpbump's fist. This inspired a all star fight between everyone, excluding Mirrorman, GCBC, and Inseln. They were peacefully enjoying a few slices of pie. Inseln, adding to the conversation about pie, said "I wonder, what is a robot's favorite pie? (www.google.com)" "If I want to go with my coffee after the meal, I love Boston Cream pie, lemon meringue pie, etc." This went on and on as GCBC and Mirrorman had thoughts of either suicide, or murder, just to get him to shut up. This whole scene was soon interrupted, when a large robot came and laser-zapped the gazebo into dust. The villagers (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=be+careful%2C+remember+how+many+types+of+robots+ there+are&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f) all ran to think out what to do.

what is a robot's favorite pie? Does this link lead to the Irish google for every one else?
I'm pretty sure all the underlined parts mean something. I have no idea what the GENTLEMEN link means.

Inseln is obviously a robot because what is a robots favorite kind of pie is a link to google, and when you google that phrase there is a site with the word robot in the title and it and it has the exact phrase "To go with my coffee after the meal, I love Boston Cream pie, lemon meringue pie."
The word Gentlemen is a link to someone's avatar, but I cant remember who's.

EDIT: I see what you mean now, you searched for "To go with my coffee after the meal, I love Boston Cream pie, lemon meringue pie."
I"ll show that search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22To+go+with+my+coffee+after+the+meal%2C+I+love +Boston+Cream+pie%2C+lemon+meringue+pie.&btnG=Search)as well, and leave the other one up so people won't get confused like I did.
But that is interesting that robot is in that blog name, you might be on to something.

I saw that too, but I don't think that that is what it means. If you go to that website, the quote is a direct quote from a user on the website with the name 'null'. This could either mean that Inseln is himself null, suggesting that he's a robot, or it could mean that the supposed clue is null, meaning that he isn't a robot.
I don't think the underlining means anything, mainly because of the haphazard-ness of it all. It seems like Ben or Die Hard randomly underlined a bunch of parts to make the links more hidden. I could be wrong though, so if someone wants to work on it, be my guest.

By the way, I'm not voting in this opening round because it's stupid, etc.
(Unless there's a surefire clue somewhere)

Yeah I fixed that in mine.
And does anyone know what the villagers link is supposed to mean, "be careful, remember how many types of robots there are"?
EDIT: Nevermind I answered my own question.
There will be four classes: Army, Civilians, Evil Robots, and Good Robots.

and then the second part:
ILIAHSANSLATMITHHEIATSTJSICUSSTWSSSIPIAMLFMSSFSLMY ?
All I see is "beef" and "heart" in the first one. Captain (Cpt.) Beef Heart maybe, does that mean anything to you?
Anyone see anything?

I also noticed in the intial post, lots of words have a letter missing. In this order, here are the missing letters:
d s o v e r t h i n k t h i n g s n r e
And that spells "overthink things" and then the letters d,s,n,r,e left over. I may have missed some; someone else check too.
I also noticed that only the "icide" in 'suicide' is underlined, and only the "exclu" in 'excluding'. These could be clues.
Hm, was their ever a user named Cpt. Beef Heart? That name sounds way too goddamn familiar.

Ryuuzaki, that's a retarded stab in the dark, and a good way to get yourself killed. You could at least try to look at the damn clues. As for me, I'll try those letters out as a cipher and see if I can get anything out of it. The easiest way to do it is through letter frequency, ie what letters occur most in the clue compared to what letters occur most frequently in words. Plus look at word length, if anyone else is interested in giving it a shot.

I'm willing to wager that gordanthefree - the guy we'd planned to kill because he'd be a liability - is lying low for a reason. He was antsy about starting the game and all of a sudden he hasn't posted. This is not an official vote yet.

Or it could be that Gordonthefree is TO'd (http://forums.explosm.net/showpost.php?p=407134&postcount=49).
I am really tempted to vote for ryuuzaki, because from his logic it seems like he might actually be a bad robot, just killing to kill.
Sniperfire
03-26-2008, 10:10 PM
I think a bad bot trying to kill people would be just a little more subtle than that, blltmssgy. Barring any really obvious clues, i'm not voting this round either.
blltmssgy
03-26-2008, 10:13 PM
Yeah, but even if he isn't a bad bot, he still is going after people randomly, which is in no way helpful to innocents. Suppose he's right on JJ, then it'll give him reason to guess about more people, inevitably killing innocents for no reason. Whereas if he's wrong he does it any way. Do we really want that?
(notice I haven't voted yet, but I have no reason what so ever to believe that JJ is guilty)
ryuuzaki
03-26-2008, 10:19 PM
Blltmssgy like I said I'm only voting with a geuss, I'll change my vote if I see evidence, and I'm not gonna choose not to vote because if everyone does that we have no chance at getting a robot, and like I said it doesnt matter if I vote for Jewishjosh because as long as no one else votes for him he won't die (unless the robots kill him) but we really have no control over that and I doubt they will kill him since he doesn't seem to be a threat.
If they do kill him then the only reason I could think of for why they would kill him is to make me look guilty.
ryuuzaki
03-26-2008, 10:21 PM
And I'm not gonna vote for someone random each round.
I'm sure that in the next round we might actually find some good evidence.
blltmssgy
03-26-2008, 10:21 PM
Then don't vote for anyone, can't you see that your logic is flawed? We have evidence that people out there are robots, take the whole Inseln thing for example, don't just pick someone random and then say: "Oh, if I see evidence I'll change my vote." People have been giving evidence you just chose to ignore it and pick a name out of a hat.

I saw the evidence about inseln being a robot and I also saw someone saying that there was like a 50% chance that inseln was innocent. I also said that I watched the previous explosm game and everyone was killing innocent people in the first round and they were killing people who they thought were obviously guilty and yet they were all wrong.
But if you want to keep bitching about it instead of doing something useful then I will withdraw my vote and not vote for anyone so now the robots can win and kill us all (I hope you're happy you whiny bitch).

I haven't once tried to defend myself despite your mindless accusations. Pay some fucking attention before you snap at me. I haven't bitched, whined, or anything, I only suggested a few new things. I never said your stabbing at me in the dark was a bad thing, I merely pointed out a few clues that I think might work better. You have good reason to believe that being sensible won't work, but who are you to say that being insensible will be any better?
I used the Beefheart clue to find the Mirrorman clue, so don't say I'm not "doing something useful." Again, pay attention. Douche.
The first round does not decide the game, unless we kill the only good guy with magical powers. Why yes, the robots will win if I don't die this round. Pull your finger out of your ass and stop acting like it's the end of the world if we don't listen to your shitty excuse for logic. You know what? I'll vote for, oh let's say, GCBC. Blltmssgy can vote for Sniperfire, BKS can vote for Shadowpriest, and History can vote for g_r_b, who will vote for Dresden. Random votes are only catastrophic if everyone bandwagons behind someone like you. Anyway, I suggest we all shape up and find some meaning behind the clues before we all bandwagon against a random victim.
I have half a mind to vote for you because you seem like a big liability, but I'm strongly against grudge votes, and I don't think you're a robot, so I won't vote for you unless a few other people think it's a good idea.

Yeah, because our track record for first round voting is merely limited to civilians. It seems we've managed to kill of one of the most important people for the good guys EVERY time we've voted first round. Robo_Sexual
03-27-2008, 1:29 AM
BKS, I believe Robo-Sexual is bi. LMAO ummmm, opening story clues? What?
Alright. here are my thoughts. I think the reason there apear to be so many clues is because each one is for something different. Remember the different roles... Army, Civilians, Evil, and Good Robots. Also: the "villagers" link reminds us to remember how many kinds of robots there are: two. So, this means, with the clue for Inseln, they could be either a good or a bad robot. I am going to reason that Inseln is probably a Good Robot.
- the link to the Robot blog, ("Robot Co-op" a very cooperative, peaceful, non-evil sounding name. But I think it does mean Inseln is a robot. A GOOD robot.)
Now, Captian Beefheart. The Youtbe link (http://youtube.com/watch?v=-lBbMzi5NrI) confirms that it is the musician being referred to. Gordon the Free could be hinted at from the youtuber's screenname, but again this might mean nothing at all. It could also be meant as Mirror Man discography link. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000J7A4/thecaptainbeefhe)(scroll down to track titles).
-this clue is offered outside of the story. It comes in a post about PMing votes. Roles that need to PM? Evil Robots, and Army, I think. That means that this clue is for either an Evil Robot or an Army member.
- It could be meant to be either GordontheFree or Mirrorman.
The 'GENTLEMAN' link probably means just the citizens... That's all I can think of right now. Those are all the clues we found yet, right?
So, I'm thinking Mirrorman is probably the evil robot. Just because that seems like a really strong clue (although you do have to go out of your way to find it). Refraining from voting on it just yet, but that is how I feel.
USER WAS PUT IN TIMEOUT FOR THIS POST. (http://forums.explosm.net/bankamp/)
Reason: LMAO ummmmmm, don't do that.

/Quadros
I wasn't talking to you I was talking to blltmssgy. I withdrawed my vote and I'm not gonan vote for a random person for the rest of the game so everyone just clam done and forgot I said anything. Lets just act like sophisticated people.
One flaw with your plan. It's more likely than not that both Army and Evil Robot send votes by PM, but do Good Robots get to have any powers either? Until we know either way, we can't assume that they don't.
Here is a theory: Gentleman was a reference to Diehard's old avatar. So, perhaps, if the Gentleman clue was referring to a civilian, is it possible that Diehard's post is a clue about who that civilian may be?

I'm voting for Gordon the Free as well, because of Robo_Sexual's evidence, and the fact that if we kill him and he is indeed a good guy, at least we know Mirrorman is a bad guy. Plus, we don't have to worry about Gordon the Free killing us all.

The Gordon evidence is weak. Giordano would translate to Jordan, not Gordon, and even then the youtube user reference is a stretch. He's been in TO and if you check his profile he hasn't been online since his ban was lifted. The Beefheart clue points much more strongly to Mirrorman, and Robo-Sexual's put together enough pieces for me to be confident in my vote. I think he's a safer bet than Gordon. Ben confirmed that the Beefheart thing is not a fake clue. He said the youtube link and the beefheart clue point to the same thing, both point to Mirrorman but only one, and only barely, to Gordon.
Also, I don't know if this clue was here before, follow the links in Ben's last post:

I worked a little on the anagram, but I'm not really getting much of anywhere. One thing I did find out was that only 2 people currently in this game have names that fit into the anagram, Spiffy13 and Pieman. Not really sure if that's worth much of anything though. Oh, and for those who want to try solving it, I seperated it by letter.

The thing is Josh, that clue doesn't point to mirrorman, because if it did that video of Cpt. Beef Heart would be of the mirrorman song, because Ben just told us that those two clues (cpt beef heart and the youtube video go together and the video is not of the mirrorman song). We need to find out what the long code is before we act on this clue.
In other words, these two clues go together, and the first one only points to mirrorman after looking through the discography, and the youtube video is of the song "her eyes are a blue million miles," not of mirrorman.
And even with that all that means is that mirrorman/gordon is a good bot, a bad bot, or part of the army.

Wow, I haven't even posted and already people are thinking I'm the bad guy. It looks like I never shouldn't have changed my name.
Also I think the best clue yet is against Gordon the Free, so I'm voting against him.
I'm just gonna add that as soon as Robo-Sexual said it's either Mirrorman or Gordon, Mirrorman pointed to Gordon, claiming the evidence is stronger than it would seem, based on my last post.
Also, I think Robo's on the right track with the four groups, four clues thing.
David - Robo-Sexual was convincing. The Robot Co-op thing seems to indicate that Inseln is a good robot, and if we're going by Robo-Sexual's four clues theory, it points to Mirrorman being an evil robot. Besides, we have to start somewhere, and this is as good a lead as we're gonna get.
Edit: Bllt - damn this is suddenly so confusing. For now I still think Mirrorman is more likely than anyone else to be a bad robot, and I'll stand by that for the time being, though I do agree the new clue will be useful if we can crack it. At this point I'd just rather convince people not to vote for Gordon because I feel Mirrorman's a safer bet.

I don't think that the "ILIAHSANSLATMITHHEIATSTJSICUSSTWSSSIPIAMLFMSSFSLMY" thing will help us because you can't spell out robot, bad, army,or civilian. So it's probably a cipher of some sort.

Just throwing it out there, but we have two people who definitely seem to be something other than civilian. They are: Inseln (either good robot or bad robot) and Mirrorman (army, good robot, or bad robot). I see no evidence as to which they'd be, so even if Robo-Cop's 4 clue idea is true, we still have no reason to find that Inseln is a good robot and Mirrorman a bad robot, let alone not an army guy.
Inseln - 50% chance evil.
Mirrorman - 33% chance evil.
Gordon the Free - Shaky clue against him.
Ryuuzaki - a liability to innocents.
Those aren't number's I'd bet on, so I ask you:
Why are we choosing Mirrorman?

Okay, since you all seem to have forgotten; The missing letters in the intro spell out
'Don't over think things'
While have deep and meaningfuls about the clues, keep that in mind.
Speaking of which, the most definate clues we've had so far (keeping in mind that Benjamin confirmed that) is the youtube video that has the Cpt. Beefheart song about the girl. You people theorised that the girl was a prime suspect of some sort, and isn't robo sexual a girl? And there's also reference ot the Mirrorman song.
And then we have the white letters in one of Benjamin's other posts saying Cpt. Beefheart. With the random jumble of letters that read 'ILIAHSANSLATMITHHEIATSTJSICUSSTWSSSIPIAMLFMSSFSLM Y ?' With the question mark that most of you seem to have missed, I'm guessing it's a crypic question of some sort once deciphered. To what? I'm not sure.

Lyrics for the song:
"I look at her and she looks at me

She says she loves me
Her eyes
Her eyes
Her eyes are a blue million miles

Far as I can see

Bulletproof, it doesn't point to those lyrics, it points to Spiffy13. GCBC even pointed that out (as did I earlier, though hers was much more definitive). The lyrics were likely only to be used to decifer the clue. Also, Benjamin said that the clue pointed to only 1 person. With the new clue discovery, the one person is obviously Spiffy13, and not Ryuuzaki.

Woah, woah, woah - what is happening? First of all, for all you know I'm just a robot - not sure if I'm good or bad. How is that any better evidence than the evidence against Inseln or Mirrorman? Clues can point to things other than just bad robots.
Secondly, Ryu is acting like a 10 year old. In his previous post he said, "Everyone else is voting for him and everyone says I can't make my own decisions so I'm just gonna go with what everyone else is going with." - he seems like he's trying to get all eyes off of him and onto someone else, just like what he did with Jewishjosh.

Sorry spiff man, but GCBC seems to have really cracked the clue, and kudos to her. I am willing to vote on that logic because it makes the most sense and take the chance that you are a good robot. Logically, there are fewer good robots than bad robots since there are more bad robot roles. Officially my vote goes to Spiffy13.

O = E
P = F

I am still curious about 'GDGHPE FOGLDS OL', What on earth does it mean?
It isn't a hint at lyrics and it isn't a cypher. Is it just meant to confuse? I can't think of any other tricks to use for it. I tried shifting the letters forward and backward in the alphabet. If you sift each letter forward one, the last 'OL' becomes 'PM' which sort of makes sense, but then the rest does not make sense. So. I don't really know.

END ROUND ONE
As the Gazebo top crashed down from it losing support, it fell and began to roll toward the group of villagers. This prompted them all to run, except GRB. As the spinning death-gazebo came toward him, Spiffy13 came out of the crowd and tackled GRB out of the way. The top suddenly stopped spining, and fell into an open area. The crowd picked up Spiffy13 in a congratulatory way, but he was pulled from the middle of the crowd down to the ground, and trampled to death. This being realized, the crowd backed away slowly, revealing sparks and wires. One bad robot down, the crowd thought. Afterwards, everyone went to Pizza Hut for some pizza, of course. On the way there, during a chorus of "Wheels on the Bus", there was a large commotion over who was cooler, Spiderman or The Hulk, and Dresden was thrown out of the bus window. The bus stopped and inspected his injuries. He was definitely innocent. The poor kid didn't even get his pizza. COMMAS

I used an on-line word descrambler, and according to it there are no anagrams in the word commas, so I can only assume that the clue has something to do with commas. There are exactly 15 commas in the update, but I don't know if that means anything. Just some speculation and outloud brainstorming.
As for other possible clues, we may want to focus on "Wheels On The Bus", Spiderman, The Hulk and Pizza Hut, all being topics that could have easily been changed to something else.

EDIT: Going by that line of thought, Spiffy13's name is underlined in the first post. Perhaps the other names underlined are bad robots too?

Awwwwww. I died the FIRST ROUND!? Oh well, I get to watch the whole game in peace at least. And for the record, Spiderman is cooler.

Impossible, Spiffy's name has a comma after it, and Dresden's doesn't. Maybe the robots have commas after their names.
The Hulk has a comma after it, whereas Spiderman doesnt.
Any way these could hint towards players?

Maybe it's just a fake clue.

Okay, with all the people who have commas after their names in the first post:
Jewish Josh, Bad robot maybe? (see paragraph below)
Spiffy13,Definate bad robot.
Dauntasa,
Mirrorman,
GCBC,
Inseln,
WeeeeWhiteTextLOL
out of that, two people were underlined or half underlined. Spiffy and Jewish Josh. Would that mean that the commas are robots, but the underlined ones are bad? And Ben might have underlined them for emphasis...

Hang on a minute, why the hell would GCBC rat out a robot if he was one? That just doesn't make sense, unless he is a good robot.
Another clue perhaps Ben? please?
EDIT: look at Ben's clue in his edit caption:adding fake clue somewhere, hah.. And that anagram was added in after he wrote that. Meaning that that is probably the fake clue.

Didn't you? I'm sorry :(, or is that another fake clue?
I guarantee that isn't the case either. I didn't notice the comma after Spiffy's name. But my name has a comma after it too, and if I was a bad robot I wouldn't have thrown suspicion on myself out there. And I wouldn't have helped to solve the last clue.
Back to the drawing board I guess.

Nah, but I'll give you another hint: I'll give you a hint: There has been and will be 2 fake clues per round. Also, each clue in the round pertains to a certain subject.
