So I realise that there was a topic on it a while ago but that was before the Great Purge and division of the forums so I think it's OK if I start a new topic.

First of all I'd like to ask everyone that if they mention anything about the content of the books if they could please use [ spoiler ] tags [ /spoiler ] (no spaces ofc) and if they could state which book it comes from or number if you can't remember title so no-one has any seriously nasty surprises.

Personally, I'm only on the 6th book myself: "Lord of Chaos". I love the series, I cannot put the books down for the life of me, they're an addiction.

The writing is excellent: it's incredibly original and creative, lots of character development, hundreds of sub-plots and sub-characters which make the books so grabbing and enticing and with likeable characters to boot.

I love the whole take on the "One Power" and how he deals with it, and the concept of Saidar and Saidin and the taint, and division of men and women. And of course the Pattern and the weaving thing.

The only flaws I can think of is that it's kind of long-winded and drawn out, but in the end that's a pro because there's just more to read before series ends! Also, I think Robert Jordan focuses a bit too much on feminism and women, honestly right now I hate ALL of the female characters except Min since she's the only non-hypocritical retardedly feminist female character in the series so far.

Elayne, Egwene, Nynaeve, Aviendha and the Aes Sedai are so fucking annoying and uppity, it drives me up the wall. All the male characters are cool though.

And:

(Book 5)
Who killed Asmodean?!

It's a shame that Jordan died before finishing the last book. Great series, and a shitload of foreshadowing that you won't catch until after the event has happened (makes re-reading worth it). I've read the entire series (prequel and all) about 3 or 4 times now.

In response to your question:

The FAQ link in there is sure to have a lot of spoilers, by the way.

Wow thanks for the link, pretty in-depth stuff.

Apparently his wife and brother will be finishing the book I heard, hopefully they do a good job. It really is a shame.

Also, I read the prequel as well and I don't think it gets enough credit. I really liked it, it gave some insight about Siuan, Moiraine and Lan that you wouldn;t have had before.

Wow, I haven't used my account on DragonMount since the day Robert Jordan died.

I love the books, I recently finished my fourth reread, and I still can't get bored of them.

I'm glad his wife still plans on finishing the series, I just hope she doesn't end it with the popular Moridin Body-Switch theory. That would just piss me off.

Mmmm, best series ever. I've read it through, oh about 4 or 5 times. It's absolutely amazing... up until book 10. I have been extremely unimpressed with books 10 and 11. 11 was a bit better, but still... eh. It just seems like there are too many loose ends that could possibly be tied up in the last book.

I loved the books I just wish he had tried to finish the book series up sooner. I read somewhere that he said he would not end the series until people started losing interest in them.

OK turns out it wasn't a bug like I was hoping, but truely my stuff up. Sorry about that MCR, if you want you can spoil a book for me.

I haven't gotten that far yet.

But it seems like a pretty major event, thanks -__-

I'm curious as to how the whole Crippled and blind Dragon Reborn thing will work out. And why'd he Refuse healing for it?

BOOK 11:
If I remember right, he doesn't refuse Healing. Nynaeve doesn't want to mess around with his eyes, because she doesn't know what she's doing, and you can't regrow hands. I expect his eyes will be healed around the time Cadsuane manages to get him to laugh and cry again.

Also, tag your spoilers.

Brandon Sanderson (http://www.dragonmount.com/News/?p=326) will be finishing the final book, working off of Jordan's notes. His wife will be editing the book, which she did for all the rest.

Tag as in mark which book it's from, like the OP asked. The [spoiler] tag worked just fine.

Am I the only one who thoroughly dislikes Aes Sedai and most of the female characters in this series, or are there others?

Nah, I like the main females for the most part; Egwene, Nynaeve, Aviendha... Siuan and Leanne are better now that they're just like the rest. And weaker... But yeah, most Aes Sedai are too stuck up.

So, I'm guessing this is pretty obvious, but who knows. You know how Nynaeve healed Logain? And those Asha'man healed the Tower Aes Sedai? Am I the only one that thinks that being severed has to be healed by the opposite gender of the One Power for the person to retain their full strength? I mean, Logain had his full strength, and as far as we know the Aes Sedai healed by the Asha'man did too. But Siuan and Leanne were much weaker.

I thought that the whole opposite gender has to heal severing thing was obvious.

And I seriously dislike Faile, though most people do, and when Elayne or Nyanaeve think that Rand should give himself over to the rebel Aes'Sedai I'm not to fond of them.

As I said, "guessing this is pretty obvious". Just thought I'd voice it.

And why do you dislike Faile? Just because she likes being yelled at?

The Red Ajah pisses me off to no end. They're the WoT version of feminists. But with MAGIC!

I suppose you're right.

To be honest, I don't mind Faile.

Elayne, Aviendha, Egwene and Nynaeve just piss me off when they go on about how they're going to make Rand, Mat, Perrin whoever do as they please, like it or not and think they're ALWAYS right regardless, and act all big and strong but as soon (Book 6) they try to use the power on Mat but it doesn't work because he has the foxhead medallion and he threatens to kick they're ass they're not so big anymore. Also, I hate how Elayne thinks she can just ask Mat for the medallion and he'll hand it over as if he's her meek little kitten. God I love Mat.

Pretty much every main character in the book has been stupid and stubborn at one point or another. It's just a personality quirk that Jordan seems to like.

Cristo

True, but he seems to make it the most predominant in the women.

Honestly, the only ones who don't annoy me to no end are Min and Faile.

And now Gawyn is starting to piss me off (book 6 - 7)with all his rubbish about vowing to kill/not to help Rand because he supposedly killed Morgase, which he never did. Why he chooses to believe it is beyond me to be frank, there's no evidence for or against it. Fucking retard, I just hope Mat or Rand kills him in case he tries something stupid against them, Elayne be damned.
