View Full Version : Stupid Simple
Sometimes you wonder why you don't think of these things sooner:

I just discovered a nice re-use of those CD/DVD spindle cases: use them to store cables for your computer. I've just wrapped them in a circle, and then closed the case as usual, and now my cords are all in one spot where i can see what's in there!
Holy hell, I can't believe I never saw a use for those spindle things like that.
What other clever uses do you have for shit around the house?

I don't think I'm cool enough to come up with anything though :(

I modded an old computer case into a shelf where I hold sodas and whatnot, but I don't really get the strokes of simple genius that help out a lot.

I made arm rests for my chair out of some old belts and some random rods I found lying around the house. Then I didn't have belts so I used a shoe lace. I'm like fucking MacGyver if you think about it.

Or you could use them to hold CDs that you've burnt, but I guess that's kind of a cool idea. Very organized.

I've put my wires in spindles like that for ages, I just didn't think common fucking sense was worthy of a blog all to itself.

I don't recycle at all. In fact, I get a warm fuzzy feeling from clubbing baby seals.
Though having said that I use those spindles to hold the DVDs that I've burnt, so I guess they have a point.

Could use the spindle to club baby seals, and the DVD's as some sort of makeshift Ninja stars for said baby seals?

It's not that hard to do these things, but most people prefer the convenience of buying the alternative. Buying, however, doesn't give the satifaction of knowing you made something with your own two hands.

I ordered a 100 free shipping boxes from the USPS' website and used them to organize stuff around my room.
I also ordered the free stickers to use as tape.

Yeah I allready knew people that did this. Like common knowledge.
Also, this site is pretty ridiculous. Is this guy seriously suggesting you swap a light bulb for a potato? (http://lifehacker.com/software/clever-uses/change-a-broken-bulb-with-a-potato-321014.php)

No, he is suggesting that if you have a broken light bulb in the socket that you use a potato to get it out. It works, but I thought that was pretty much common knowledge and did not need to be put on a website, but who am I to judge.

I don't get what he exactly means by a broken bulb though, I've never had my light bulbs explode.

Yeah, but in the long run you creating more waste or whatever, cuz then you have to use water to rinse the shit off. Why not use your tongue as the mouth is a lil bit more self-cleaning than the hand is.
I save money by using the same underwear for 6 months.
Then using that used underwear as a rag to wipe random things off.

I use a plastic tie to keep my wires behind my computer organized. Well it's this plastic locking thing that if you stick 1 end in you CANNOT take it out. Well instead of having my wires go EVERYWHERE I just have them like that so it's nice and tidy!

To be honest, I actually always have an abundance of CDs and never enough spindles. I also have this nifty contraption called a drawer where I keep my cables. It works as a space saver for me because I don't have many things to put in drawers.
Besides cables.
You're all dirty shit cocks. You fuckers wonder why the forum sucks. It's because you guys shit on threads. This thread actually had potential to be interesting and decent. But when someone comes and makes a thread about a break up or something asinine, everyone takes it seriously.
I mean, come on. I like most of you guys, but seriously, grow-the-fuck-up. Get your priorities worked out (in terms of thread to and not to shit in) and make this forum a decent place to visit.
Someone close this thread. There's no point to keep this open.

I use bootlegged Ipods as hard drives. I keep all my school work or any important notes on it. I also keep my old computer for spare parts and use the case as storage for rolled up wires and useless pieces of anything (tickets, old mp3s, cd players, sound cards, ETC) else I have.

If I need something, I construct it out of Lego. That's how I keep CD's, my Walkman case, wallet holder, back scratcher, etc. They're really handy.

What exactly is a bootlegged iPod?
I would never use the CD spindles to store wires. That picture looks like it's just a waste of space. I have this small Rubbermaid drawer next to my computer that I tie up wires and put them in. I would lose space if I used the CD spindle idea. I also don't burn CDs as often as others, so my case of 100 still has about 40 in it. Maybe once I use them all up I'll think of another use.
I'm wondering about that story of the guy putting all his computer hardware on a wall to save the space a case would take up. What are the negatives of that? I'm trying to think of how damage could be caused by leaving them out, but I'm drawing a blank if he has the fan on the CPU running and all that he should be.
