Living or dead and why:

Me:
Isambard Kingdom Brunel: one of the greatest engineers who ever lived.

Michael Schumacher: Awesome professional, driven by the fact he wanted to be the best and would stop at nothing to get it. Nice guy off track though, apparently.

Roy Keane: ditto Schumacher, except the nice guy part

Donald Trump: He's an asshole, sure, but a shrewd and very succesful businessman. I'd love to get some pointers from him. Because you can be clever, educated, and well funded, but if you don't have the right attitude, you'll amount to nothing more than middle management and at very best a mildly bourgeois existence.

Sigmund Freud: Love him or hate him, the guy was a genius. I'd love to sit on his couch and hear how he interprets my issues. The first thing he'd point out, judging by this post, is my daddy issues.

Rene Descartes: Pure unadulterated genius. The guy revolutionised philosophy, coined the phrase cogito ergo sum, and the mind blowing revelations born of this utterly abstract conception.

I'm very clearly interested in people who think differently, and approach life differently. And yes, I use a Mac

Richard Branson: Amazing guy, hyper-successful. I'd love to see what it is about him that has made him such a good businessman. And I'd ask him for a job at Virgin Atlantic.

Steven Fry: Very funny, just seems like a cool guy to chat to.

Da Vinci: Apart from being great at nearly everything he did, I'd like to ask him what that bloody code was all about!

Charlie Chaplin, One of the greats of film, I'd love to just meet the guy.

Mozart, my favourite composer, him being insane and all could lead to an awesome conversation

Hitler, I'd just like to sit and laugh at him for a little while, taunting him because he failed

Jallen
04-02-2008, 8:43 AM
Albert Einstein because he was a pure genius. I'd want to find out how his mind works. He also had so many quotes that are so amazingly philosophical it would be dumb not to want to meet him.

Franklin Deleno Roosevelt because he was, in my opinion, the best president in American history.

Jesus. He's Jesus. Why not.

GCBC
04-02-2008, 1:21 PM
My Grandfather Eddie: He died before I was 2 and I hear he was an awesome guy. I wish I could have known him.

Andy Griffith: The first guy to get me interested in the law. Granted he was just an actor, but he convinced me well enough.

Prince William: Talk about gorgeous... *drool*

El Travo
04-02-2008, 8:42 PM
Joe Sakic: He's my hero, epic hockey player.

Patrick Roy: Yeah, I'm with the hockey group but Roy is a living legend! He is proclaimed greatest goalie ever and has been my fav' since 96'.

Jimi Hendrix: He's just a great guitarist, great guy too apparently.

badumpbumpbump
04-03-2008, 5:27 PM
Theodore Roosevelt, he would teach me how to be a MAN!
Till Lindemann, the lead singer of Rammstein. Hopefully he could explain some of his songs to me.
Kevin Spacey/DDL/Javier Bardem/Christopher Walken: I could meet these guys who are some of my favorite actors, and get some acting tips from them... although it's not like those would be important.

By the way, does anyone know how to make a single post?

Grim

Cristiano Ronaldo so I can kick him in the nuts.

Pythagoras to improve my sub-par knowledge of mathematics.

John Travolta
04-05-2008, 12:36 PM
Adolf Hitler: Complete military genius. He fought the world's superpowers at the same time on two fronts and was honestly winning for the majority of World War 2. He pretty much singlehandedly revived Germany's economy and brought the majority of the world out of the Great Depression. He was completely motivated and despite being a complete psychopath, knew how to get stuff done. Fantastic speaker as well.

Genghis Kahn: He took over all of Asia along with his sons, and if it weren't for one of them dying it is completely possible that they would have taken over all of Europe as well.

Abraham: Founded Islam and pretty much ruined the world on account of organized religion and all.

Hawke
04-05-2008, 12:53 PM
Seth Rogen: I love his movies/shows.

Judd Apatow: I love his movies/shows.

Screw everyone else. I only want to meet those two.

Pieman
04-05-2008, 12:56 PM
Robert Jordan. He wrote the best series ever, but died before he could finish. Its being written by another, yes, but I want to hear it from him.

Judas, I'd like to hear his side of the story.

Raphael, I've always been interested in Christian mythology. This guy and Asmodaeus were always my favourites (Asmodaeus more so though) but Asmodaeus is a psycopathic demon of lust. So I'll stick with the angel guy.

Benjaman
04-05-2008, 1:04 PM
Don Van Vliet: A.K.A. Captain Beefheart. He's an amazing artist, sculptor, and guitarist.
Abraham Lincoln: The best President.

I would like to meet the person behind a few of my favorite kid shows.

1. Animaniacs. Where did he get the idea for that? How did he know that kids would be smart enough to understand the majority of the jokes?

2. Pokemon. Again, who was the genious that thought up that show? Did he write the theme too? What came first, Ash or Pickachu?

3. Stan Lee. The man is responsible for much cool crap. He took his own life and skewed it in such a way that made it interesting to a lot of people.

Mason2846

Johnny Cash: Man has amazing vocal talent, I want him on my CD. Plus, i would love to sit back, have a brew or two and just discuss life with him.

Steve Prefontaine: He was an amazing runner, I would love to kick back, talk about training and such, and go out for a run with the man.

Metallica: I love their music, having a few brews and jamming would be amazing. Wouldn't mind having them on my CD either.

Riddlebox
04-11-2008, 10:57 PM
Carl Reiner: I just find him to be an awesome actor. Also, I bet he has some of those cool stories that old guys tell about that one time he was fighting the Nazis.

Robby Coltrane: Again, he's just an awesome actor, and I'm pretty sure he would be a cool guy to meet, and maybe have a beer with. What's more, I'm sure he's pretty sharp and we could talk about some interesting things.

Clint Eastwood: Are you kidding me? He's just awesome, and could kick the shit out of John Wayne. Also, I heard he likes Jazz, which means we'd also have shit to talk about.

You can probably guess that I love the Ocean's series. Carl Reiner fits into his role like a glove, and the whole cast is great besides.

Raxo
04-12-2008, 12:05 AM
Slug (from the rap group Atmosphere) - Seems like a cool guy to talk to about life and love and stupid shit like that.

John Madden - So he could tell me an endless amount of football stories and just to hear him say BOOM!

Nikola Tesla - It would be interesting to see him demonstrate all his crazy shit that he invented or he "claimed" to have invented.

Tweek
04-12-2008, 1:50 AM
Billy Connolly - Funny fuck could teach me some comedy and life lessons.

Vladimir Lenin - Would like to hear firsthand his take on Marxism and how the Soviet Union turned out under Stalin.

Wil Anderson - Funny guy, just to chat about shit.

Niki
04-12-2008, 2:17 AM
Neil deGrasse Tyson - He's my favourite astrophysicist, I'd love to just have a conversation with him about space. I feel like I'd learn so much.

Michio Kaku - I find string theory really cool. Plus, I see him on almost every show on the science channel and he looks pretty interesting.

Edgar Allan Poe - I have a huge book of most of his poems and short stories and it's pretty much my bible. Amazing writer.

Dodger
04-12-2008, 3:23 AM
Crazy Horse- Greatest American military genius ever, fought against Custer's 7th Calvary, and even though he was heavily outnumbered and outgunned, managed to hold his ground through sheer genius military strategy, not only did he use brilliant tactical maneuvers he also took Custer's personality into account, and accurately predicted what he would do in any situation. As for other military geniuses, I wouldn't mind meeting Napoleon or Robert E. Lee.

Voltaire- Wittiest fucking guy I've ever heard of. This man was ridiculously ahead of his time, blatantly spoke out against tyrannical governments and hypocritical religions, vehemently advocated civil liberties, and did so with reason and satire. Definitely one of my heroes, and I don't have many. Even on his deathbead, when asked to renounce the devil, he said "No,now is not the time to be making enemies." That is pretty badass.

Socrates- Arguably the greatest philosopher to ever live. Indirectly responsible for some of the greatest minds to ever walk the planet. He taught Plato, who taught Aristotle, who taught one of the first military geniuses, Alexander the Great. Socrates was indirectly responsible for all of this. And even though some of his theories turned out to be false, he still dared to think past what anyone else had ever thought of. They even killed him because he tried to teach the children to question everything. If he were alive now, with access to everything we now know, there's no doubt he could achieve more than any current scientist or world leader.

Audioslave
04-12-2008, 8:57 AM
Noam Chomsky: Most intelligent author I've ever read. Totally knows what's going on in the world.

Tom Waits: Weirdest musician I've ever heard. Genuinely insane artist, and seems like a good drinking buddy.

Kurt Vonnegut: Favorite person of all time. Amazing author that can capture humanity like nobody else. Alas, he's in heaven now.

2. Shakespeare- he is Lord of Human Nature. I want to know everything that went through his head when he was writing.
3. Pete Wentz- I'm curious as to how he makes up Fall Out Boy's lyrics. They're unique enough for me to find them interesting.

I fucking love Voltaire! So far I haven't read any of his actual work, I would love to though.

I'd like to meet :

Shirley Manson. She's the lead singer in the music group Garbage. She's beautiful, talented and an amazing song writer. She's not afraid to be herself, even after she was harassed in school when she was younger. She's my idol.

Robert Smith. He's the singer in The Cure and he's amazing with instruments and writing lyrics. I want to get to know his inspirations and I'd like him to teach me to play.

Christopher Titus, because he's a great comedian and I admire his rough childhood and how he was able to turn it into something funny. His show used to make me laugh all the time, and I'd like to thank him for that.

Jimmy Urine//: Who doesn't want to meet this guy? He's totally insane, and random, and just an all around crazy fuck. He seems like the kind of guy that does whatever the hell he wants, also seems like there'd never be a dull moment around him. Just like to throw back a few shots and cruise around wal-mart with him, scare the fuck outta children, and get kicked out. Not too much to ask, right?

Agatha Christie//: The woman is a legend. She's an insight to the human mind, brilliant author, and someone that seems interesting. She was named a dame by the queen for godsakes, and if you look at how brilliant the plots of her Poroit novels are (even if some of them are very repetitive) you can admire her abilities. Talent man, pure talent.

George Lucas//: Dude, the man created Star Wars. Enough said.

Steve Prefontaine - the [in my opinion] best runner to ever live. Understood running more than anyone and had the pain endurance that no one else has/had. At one time held the American record for every long distance race from the 1500 to the 10k. He started the running boom in the 70s, is the only American man to ever get top 4 in the 5000 meter olympic race, and he would have the world record in the 5k if he wouldn't have died so soon.

Bill Bowerman - Coached Prefontaine and many other amazing runners of Oregon. I'm looking to coach cross country and track when I graduate, so I'd like to talk to him about training and such.

Bill Nye - Seems like a fun guy

kellykawaii
05-19-2008, 5:28 AM
Mark Hoppus - Mostly because he's been one of my biggest idols for years now. I'm a huge fan of both Blink 182 and +44 and I look up to Mark a lot. He's had a lot to do with who I am today,

Ray Darcy - Only Irish people would know who I mean. I grew up watching Ray and now listen to him as often as I can on his radio show. I'd just love to spend a day with him. He's probably one of the funniest people I've ever heard on the radio.

Tom Delonge - Just so I could ask him what the hell happened him and when did he decide to turn into a jerk.

Nikola Tesla: One of those people who were ahead of their time. Under appreciated, and mostly forgotten. There's so many things he pioneered in. Radio, Resonance, Resonant transformers (the tesla coil), the bladeless turbine, and lots more. Mostly his work in high voltage, high frequency AC is what I like.

Jesus/God: Because I'm at a religious turning point at the moment, could do with some proof as to their existence/nonexistence.

Jimi Hendrix: He's the music man! I love his work and I'm learning to play guitar proper now.

I'll second that. He was an absolute genius who didn't get enough recognition for his work. Mythbusters done a great show on him.

Nick Cave, Nick Cave, and uh, Nick Cave! Reason being the man is a fucking genius who's been constantly active for the past 30 years. Well, maybe not so much in the late 90s, but he was in rehab then. His music is just... incredible. He's changed my life.

06-01-2008, 3:35 PM
Serj Tankian- even if you hate System of a Down, you can not say this guy is afraid to say his opinion. I respect him for the fact he's actually a really musical guy and really feels strong about certain things.

Kimya Dawson- come on, she's such an awesome lyricist! She has to tell me her secrets.

Banksy- Or at least see his face.

SomethingWitty

Randy Blythe The vocalist and songwriter for Lamb of God, my all time favorite band. I'd love to sit down with him, have a few beers and chat about life. His lyrics have influenced me in so many ways and I would just love to tell him so.

Chan Wook-Park My favorite director of all time, and also a professor in philosophy. He's the reason I'm going to study filmmaking and directing. He takes his movies in new directions, fighting the norm, unafraid to explore social taboos and the human psyche in a new light, without fear of judgement. If you want examples of this check out his revenge trilogy: Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy and Lady Vengeance.

René Descartes One of my favorite philosophers. A great thinker who revolutionized the western piloshophical way of thinking, and still today his theory behind the phrase "Cogito, ergo sum" (I think, therefore I am) stands strong.

Aww, well you didn't hear Tom's side of the story I'm guessing? In the documentary he tells his side and it's not really his fault, mostly because he wanted to contribute more to blink-182 so he started Boxcar Racer to learn more about music and expand a little, he said he only took Travis in the band so he didn't have to pay for a studio drummer. It came out wrong when he told Mark and made him sound like a prick. Also after that band Interscope records wanted him to start a solo career but he denied and after Interscope and their manager emailed eachother about it, the last part was forwarded to the whole band so they saw all the talk about it.

On another note... I already met Tom Delonge so now I would like to meet
Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and my other idol Kurt Cobain, just to talk and hang out. (Also try to prevent Cobain from killing himself.)

Richard_Simmons

Do they have to be real people or is it cool to have fictional characters alive and dead that you want to meet. I'll just assume yes and mix it. I'd like to meet:
Ender Wiggin: I would want to talk to him because I relate to him and would love to pick his brain and just find out why he is the way he is.
Scarlett Johansson: I'd meet her with some chloroform and we'd come to know(in the biblical sense) each other :)
Michael Crichton: because he writes some pretty badass books.

Che Guevara, my fucking hero for obvious reasons. Yet a lot of shit has been said about him and I want to find out what all is true. As a genius, militarily, politically and philosophically I think just to sit down and talk with him about shit would be awesome.

George Washington, just to see what he would have to say about modern America.

Shit to choose one more is hard, Crazy Horse, Robert E. Lee, or Voltaire.

They're all geniuses in their own right, I would love to hear their insight on many issues affecting the world today.

Ayn Rand: My favorite author and a great philosophical and political mind. I'd love to see what she's really like and have the chance to pick her brain and ask her about things I disagree with or don't understand. And I'd love to see what she thinks about the way the world has changed since she died.

Jesus: I suppose it's a cliche, but it's true. I was a Christian for most of my life, and even though I'm not now, he would still be pretty interesting to meet.

Hmmm...a third is tough. I guess I'll go with V.I. Lenin: I don't agree with him like I once did, but it would still be interesting to talk to him first hand about what he believed and to ask him about the world today and what he thinks about it.

The things I'm refering to are things that people have told me he said , things that I completely disagree with, but that I've never been able to find proof of (other than them saying he said it). Sir Arthur Guinness: I just think it would be intresting to see what kind of man he was. Plus his life was pretty intresting apart from the fact he created guiness, One of the most successful beer brands in the world. He had 21 kids with his wife.

Dave Grohl;
Because in my sick little world he is God. He's made music that has turned my world around, helped me through some of the hardest things i've ever dealt with, helped me party, strengthened friendships, and generally given me a reason for living. If there were one person on earth i'd have to say i looked up to, he would be that person.

Eric Harris;
One of the killers from Columbine. I think i'd much prefer to meet him after the whole thing went down, though. He thought of it, he planned it, he recruited Dylan for it, and he had fun doing it. I want to know what drove him. He had to have been pretty sick minded for something like this, and it would intrigue me as to what a day with Eric Harris would be like. I'm intrigued to know his reasons, his thought on the people he killed.. If he meant to kill the people he did. If he actually had a list. If anyone did, in fact, ask Cassie Bernall if she believed in God, and if that's why they killed her. I have so many questions, and so much interest in the topic. (I also used to think this was the coolest thing to have happened since sliced bread, now i know better, and giving him a slap up the ear might not go astray.)

Kurt Cobain;
Because i love Nirvana, i was a Nirvana junkie for a good chunk of my teenage years. And because, much like Eric Harris, i have a buttload of questions for him. This way i could easily put an end to this fucking stupid "did Courtney Love kill him" debate. Because although i'm sure most of the stories he told were lies, they're all so interesting, and i'd love nothing more than to sit across the room from Kurt, starry-eyed, as he told them. To see how he acted and moved, to hear him speak or to see him strum a guitar, or make a joke.. It gives me goosebumps to think about. Just being able to watch him would be enough. And because i'm one of the millions that think what he did with Nirvana changed music, and i for one am reeeally glad about that.

Benjamin Franklin,Because out out of all the founding fathers I think he was the most interesting. Besides, I'm sure he'd really love to see how things are going right now.

John Browning, he made countless innovations into firearms including the autoloading pistol, any self respecting gun nut should recognize him.

William S. Burroughs, out of all of my favorite writers he's got to be the coolest. Well maybe cool wouldn't be the best word but he would deffinately be the coolest to meet.
