View Full Version : A place for nerds!!
Use this forum to talk about computer parts, new gadgets coming out, ipods, and cool stuff like that.
Will add rules and maybe a mod later. Ask questions, provide suggestions here. Also thread tags.
Also Help subforum moved here from S/S.
I made a thread tag. I might make more later.

I'd like to mod this forum if that's ok.
I want to downgrade to Windows XP but i only have a 1525 wich is incompatible for that and Vista is terrible. The only thing i can do is download all the drivers all for xp and replace them for Vista's but that is a long and complicating process that i do not want to do. If anyone has like a url that has a bunch of drivers that are for an Inspiron 1525 that would be very helpful.

Sure, I'll get right on that.
I always wondered why Explosm didn't have a tech' forum. This is awesome, I'm going to learn a lot.

Oh that's right, I forgot you had to have registered in 2006 to be a mod.
My bad.

Something isn't right there. If you can have vista, then you can have XP as XP is an older version. Try getting a XP 64, that might work.

I want to downgrade, too. Vista came on this computer, and I don't really like it, it seems to freeze up where XP could handle easily. Vista wants to lock you out and fix it itself, but Vista doesn't know how to use CTL ALT DELETE.
I would down grade, but I am not sure if all my drivers are compatable with XP, and if it would affect my full performance.

Don't get XP64, it's terribly incompatible with everything.

Vista's implementation of ctrl+alt+del is better than xp's. It's provides more options, and it takes you out of a frozen fullscreen program, for example, to show you the options. Unless you have a really slow computer, there's no reason to downgrade.
Now, I don't think this thread is meant for tech support so much as suggestions and stuff about the forums, so you should probably make a thread if you have a problem.

Yeah! A place for nerds and tech discussion. That's something this forum didn't have. I just hope we won't have to use "leet speek".

You have to be an ideal poster and show leadership blah blah blah blah not be a cunt blah blah blah.
Its great to see the Comment Dump putting forward things like this. Lets hope it stays!

Is audio hardware acceptable in the Tech forum? (Headphones, speakers, etc.etc..) Cause some people will probably have questions on what to buy and what not.

Yes, considering they are technology. :indiff:

They were gifs already, but yeah, I did forget about the border.

(I didn't bother adding the border to the windows one since abbey's is better.)

Me too. Try doing a software tag, I tried but gave up. Maybe tags for specific hardware, like a CPU tag or whatever?

How about just a "Programming" tag?

How about just a "Programming" tag?
I can't think of a single topic someone could make that would fall under the entire umbrella of programming, except some sort of "what languages can you program in" topic. If anyone is advanced enough to have a discussion/question about programming, they're probably going to be really specific. If you think it's necessary, I can make a "Programming" tag, too.
EDIT: Besides, Java can be about more than Java programming.

I'd rather there just be a programming tag, and the poster can include the language in the title. At least for now, since I don't think we have too many programmers. If coding eventually makes up a significant portion of threads I can just make a coding subforum.
OS tags and NEW tag added.

It's late and I can't tell if this is crap or not. "Programming" was a bit big for a tag.

EDIT: Oops. Didn't realize there was already an internet tag.
