View Full Version : Write a Metaphor!

Inspired by the "Bob wants to go home" thread, I think this would make a good little challenge for all those writers and poets!

Think of a good metaphor for a topic, and at the end of 24 hours I'll choose a winner (and then the winner chooses the next topic and the next winner).

Ok first one is: think of an original metaphor...for love.

Mine:

Love is a rubix cube, some give up on it, some try and try until they have it, and some get it in an instant.

Love is like a box o' chocolates

I'm kidding, here's mine:

Love is like busting to go to the toilet, its not the journey, its the destination.

Love is like a sword, it can protect you from everything or it can skewer your heart, depending on how you handle it.

Love is like a roadtrip, how much fun you have on the journey depends on who's riding shotgun.

Love is like suicide, you know the eventual outcome will be to your detriment, yet you continue to pursue it regardless.

Love is like a pot noodle. It's dirty and you want it.

Love is a big sweating, greasy plate of grilled meats. You know it'll eventually kill you, but you carry on eating anyway.

(PS, before some smartass points it out, I know my first thing is a simile, but a metaphor just didn't seem to work, ok?.)

love is like a metaphor. sometimes only the people that write it, understand it.

Love is like Poker. You win some, you lose some but only if you show your true colors

Love is like a thread in spame, looks good from the outside, but once you're in there, you're a little dissapointed

Love is a fine red wine. A little is good for the heart; a little more makes you feel silly, but too much makes you sick.

Love is like Cyanide and Happiness. Most of the time you get Kris, Rob, and Dave comics and it's great, but some days you get a Matt comic and it sucks.

Love is a basket. At a young age you think you can hold it, but the things that the basket carries end up being too much for you, so you need to be older to be able to carry it and all the weight that comes with it.

Love is like a fire. Love with the passion that can turn stone into liquid, or be burnt by the backdraft of love lost.

I'm gonna give it to Triple J, I like its deepness! Not saying there weren't others (Jiggz and Blackhood :D).

No similes and also the metaphor one, while good, I'd heard it in class, so I guess it's not very original!

Love is like an engine. You have a fuel(man) and a air(woman), now all you need is a spark.

I've got cars on the brain from Formula Drift in Long Beach yesterday.

Fixed.

Love is like a bad metaphor, you spend most of your time trying to figure out what it all means, and when you finally do, you realise it was a waste of time anyway...

War is the alter on which Lambs dressed as lions are sacrificed to the Dark Gods of greed and power.

You retards can't have a thread like this until you learn what a metaphor is.
