Okay I bought a computer on Saturday, I hooked it up and now with the color of the website (the dark grey) these lines appear near it. Is it the monitor's fault?

Try checking for driver updates for the monitor.

Lines? How so? I don't think I have ever heard of drivers for a monitor before Beefynick, I would suggest trying to get the latest drivers for you on board video. If worst comes to worst call up the manufacturer and tell them your problem, I am guessing it is under warranty, so if it can't be fixed get a new one.

Make sure the connectors in the back of the monitor and the back of the video card are tight.

That is what I meant. I am so used to using laptops where the monitor is integrated into the system.
I know that my father had this problem with lines across the monitor with his laptop and was told that it was a fault in the motherboard by HP and that he had to replace the laptop. I would assume the same rules apply for desktops as well so you may be looking at calling up the manufacturer.
It could be dead pixels, which if that is the case you are probably screwed and will have to live with it or get a new one.

Why would you not take it back if it was dead pixels, it came broken.
Also sounds like this:

Try using another monitor to check if its the computer or the screen.
Edit: also it might be the lead.

An interesting note is that stuck pixels (I don't think it works on dead) can be fixed with downloadable software. Look it up. Anyway, it won't be dead pixels because they are random, they don't appear in lines. Are the lines moving?

Not really, there just there and only appear on this website surprisingly.

I don't see them either, and no evidence of the crappy JPEG quality getting rid of them.
Have you plugged the monitor into another computer (preferably one running Vista, with Explosm open in IE), to see if it's the monitor?

Its probably the monitor, I don't think its vista compatitable.

How can a monitor not be compatible with Vista?
Beefynick
04-19-2008, 7:54 AM
Is it an LCD or CRT monitor? Some of the CRT monitors have problems displaying vista, but a driver update to the graphics card usually fixes this.

Its a LCD
There ain't no gray shit.

To us there is no gray lines, but that does not mean they are not there on his monitor. He just took a screen shot of the display, if it is a problem with the monitor it will not show up. It is just like if your monitor went bad and showed a bunch of dead pixels; anything displayed on that monitor will have the dead pixels, but if you hook up a new monitor it will show correctly (you computer would be analogous to the new monitor).
It seems strange that an LCD monitor would go bad like that but I assume it could happen. It is not a compatibility issue with Vista unless your monitor is not plug and play which is rare. I would try hooking up your monitor to another computer and see if it displays correctly. If not you know the monitor is bad, if it does you may try putting in a video card.

Your resolution is higher than what the website runs at.

I don't think that is the problem, I am running at 1680x1050 and have no problems at all. I really do think you should give the manufacturer a call Mojado, it would be your best bet.

I called and they say I may have to reformat everything. They say its going to last an hour or more, but I don't have the time (I'll do it tommorow). I may have to get my camera inorder to show you all.

Just on this website, no other ones? Clear your temporary internet data for a start. Why would it only be on this website? Also taking a picture with a digital camera will probably cause the screen to show flickery and messed up, and not really show the gray lines up, but you can give it a go.

Having to format to fix a monitor really does not sound right to me, but if that's what the company advised I suppose you could try it.

That's Ghosting try setting you refresh rate to be lower on your Screen. If its at 80Hz, try 65Hz then 70Hz. That should clear it.
If that doesn't work then try pressing the Auto button your your monitor to try and make sure everything is aligned.

It's subtle. Look to the right of the text in the pictures. There's a bit of ghosting if you look closely.
Beefynick

I see it now, I guess I just needed my glasses.
As for a fix, you are pretty much screwed. You can try changing the refresh rate, but that usually does not fix ghosting, it only fixes motion blur. You also may try changing your resolution as sometimes that can help. It looks like you may have to get a new monitor.

As a note, some screens that I've used suffer from this at specific resolutions, if you can stand using your monitor at a smaller resolution it might work better.

EDIT: Nevermind, it didn't do shit. Its just bugging the shit out of me.

Then your monitor is bad. I would call the manufacturer back and tell them you did a reformat and it did nothing and see what they say. It looks like you are going to need a new monitor no matter what then.
