BAN ME PLEASE

Recently Korn came out with a new album, and I have found the time to illegally download it off the World Wide Web.

Title: Korn
Genre: Nu Metal
Format: CD
Rating: :aaa::aaa::aaa:/:aaa::aaa::aaa::aaa::aaa:
Date: 8/28/07

So I listened to all the songs they have, and I have to say I am a bit disappointed by their new album. The songs on there are by no means bad, but compared to their other songs from previous albums they could have done much better. This is actually the first time I ever obtained a full album of any band I like (my other way is just by typing in "Korn" in limewire and finding what songs they have available), so I don't really know how old and how new the other Korn songs I have on my iPod are. All I know is that they're better than the new album.

What makes the new album different? The pacing of the songs, as well as the actually lyrics. In many other Korn songs that I listen to, lyrics seem to be a huge part of the song(as in any song) but in these recent songs the lyrics seem to be replaced by much more rocking out than actual singing. Now this wouldn't be too bad, but it just so happens that their rock, while still hardcore, is very slow. It also doesn't help that it has a much more noticeable techno-esque beat to it. It reminds me of the also recent Nine Inch Nails album, where many of the songs did concentrate on crazy rocking as opposed to singing, but Korn couldn't seem to pull it off.

Going back to the pacing, almost every song is much, much slower than other Korn songs. Almost to the point of depressing. I mean "Do What They Say" has to be the most depressing song I've heard, and I don't even have to listen to the lyrics to get the extremely slow and depressing pace of the song.

But then again, it is Korn, so it is good. The songs may be slow and less crazy than previous Korn titles but they still rock out loud, which is much better than any of that Fall Out Boy crap you hear on the radio. So while it is not the best, it is not all that bad either.

I can't remember if it was this album or the one before, but Korn has been working with the same songwriters and arrangers that N'Sync used. I can't say I blame them, it's hard to be mad at the world when you are filthy rich. Harder still to create the anthems that got the baggy pantsed, angst ridden 15 year olds to go out and buy their CDs.

Korn's last album with twisted transistor really wasnt that great. I listened to it maybe once then got bored. They got too electronic and not enough rock.

Or maybe they've always had little talent, apart from freak on a leash which was a mediocre album. For them

First off.. Korn is awesome. One of my favorite bands. I will agree though that the new album is disappointing to say the least. My favorite song on it had to be "Kiss" though.
