Meet Jeff, the Party Snake.

Jeff was born in the savage jungles of Ecuador. However, not long after he broke free from his egg, he was captured by a hunting group who were looking for a "exotic" pet for a rich vineyard owner.

Jeff soon realized how boring it was to be stuck in a cage all day, so he decided to break free, but not before stealing a massive amount of money from his captor.

While traveling around the world, he realized what his true passion was; alcohol and parties, but mostly alcohol.

His party hat and neck tie are always on him. He also carries a container of whatever type of alcohol he bought recently with him at all times.

He's a pretty fun guy to hang out with, but he's also a snake, so he'll do whatever it takes in order to win.

Zed leads into battle his army; The Alphabet. He can command them to go into formation to form words, and they will then imitate that word. Example:

The only restrictions are that Zed only has one of each letter, so cannot form words with multiples of any letter. Also; he never joins his troops in forming words, so no words including 'Z' can be made.

Summary; Zed is the one whom you attack, and his letters are his attacks.

This is Gwee, the pearbeast, whose name comes from the sound of his scream. Whether he's more beast or fruit I'm not entirely sure. Most of what I can say about him is already obvious: he's got a mean bite and he's very estranged. Being an animal, he doesn't talk, but he isn't stupid. He's about five feet tall.

Gwee is one of the few fruitbeast alive around the world. Their original home, the Owoc plains, is in the middle of nowhere and almost entirely destroyed by land development - noteably a parking lot, because there aren't enough of them in the middle of nowhere. Most now wander the world, some are still found in the plains, and Gwee can be found there sometimes.
Due to their numbers, fruitbeasts will generally (not always) look after each other if they happen to meet.

Only, I don't have much experience using computer programs to draw stuff and if it started to go terribly wrong I'd like something to fall back on.

I'm gonna do hand drawn. The only time I can access Flash is when I'm in IST class, even then I can't save anything because my school doesn't trust me because I have games on my hard drive and they banned me from having any space in which to save my work. it pisses my teachers off so :P

Apparently I'm unable to draw large figures with my mouse, so I'm stuck with the pixelated outline (which happens when I scan it and darken it with photosho). I hope it doesn't hurt me too much, unless of course someone knows a way I can get a smooth outline by using a drawn and scanned image.

As for me getting everything set up an hour after sign ups are finished, that may not be possible as I have to go to work and I probably won't get home until about an hour after sign ups close. Seconded. The scroll bar doesn't help. You have to scroll to the bottom of the comic to scroll back and forth for each row.

Or you guys could do what Relaps did and fit your comic to the width of the forums.

With 24 contestants, the numbers work out nicely for 1 on 1 matches every round with no byes unless someone misses a deadline, and a 3-way final. :heya:

I don't understand how you would have a three man match.
You eliminate half the contestants each round, and there is no way that you can end up with 3 at the end. It is stupid anyway, I hate you all.

Argh! I've just saved the first parts of my second comic and shut down the computer to walk the dog. I've now come back and it won't let me open the file in any program apart from notepad, where a big wall of text comes up describing the layers of the picture. It just says 'Image type not recognized' in any other program and when I go on the properties of the thing it says 'type of File: 1 File'

Does anyone know how I can open it? I don't want to redo it cos I haven't got enough time to sleep aswell if I do.

Well I guess you could throw Toast Hand Guy into that round and the winner fills what would have been his spot.

Tournament's fine as is unless you have an insatiable need to draw comic battles. A wildcard round would severely delay the start of round 2.

I'm pretty sure most use Macromedia Flash (at least I did). You can also use Adobe Photoshop or Corel Draw. They're all pretty expensive if you want to buy them legally (upwards of hundreds of dollars).

Dunno if this was eligible to the worst artist in the competition, but I draw each panel individually in Macromedia Flash (I'm pretty sure you can get a free demo of this?) combine all the panels together in Adobe Photoshop (which I got with Corel Painter for free with my tablet. Tablet only cost me 200 bucks.), then do any touch-ups and add the lines in MS Paint (freeware, woo!).

I use flash, and it's almost the only tool you can use. Photoshop is slightly harder, and doesn't give the same cartoon-feel. Of course, why not paint? You can get rather nice stuff there too, and it's free.

You say this now, but what if I put a two day time limit on said masterpiece? I need something minimum effort. I love using MS paint and paint.net, it just seems to take too cunting long sometimes.

But I suppose if you're gonna be cheap, which I am, you gotta sacrifice something.

I'll see if I can steal flash from somewhere before next time methinks, cheers for the advice everyone.

Back on topic of the tournament, who are the winning odds on? This year seems pretty close; Urser, Hats Of and DJ had the funny, but there were others who had that 'epic' factor, and some who I would have liked to see more of who had to go in the first round. Like Axidos, and Far/DJ (would like to see more of both). It's gonna be a very close call.
