It's a nice idea and I'd support it, but it could get too subjective and too stretched. "Best actor in a Colombus movie" and such.

Whoa my random little idea kind of took off. DAD, I didn't mean for it to be insulting or anything-it's not like the prize is for second and third place, just something fun and extra. I figure this is a pretty solid community so you guys could come up with some goofy categories.
And trinkets or not, I think the polls would still be a fun time!
Speaking of polls, looks like we're heading into the final round soon - sweet!
How will the last round work? It's a three-way battle right?

I really like this consolation prize idea. I don't see them as consolation prizes at all, I see them as ways of recognizing participants who couldn't cut it overall but excelled in certain areas. Plus, it keeps us involved with the tourney a bit longer and gives the losers something to do. After all, it's all just for fun really.

I like Single Funniest Panel, Single Most Artistic Panel, Best Battle, and Best Cameo. I'd add Best One-Liner or maybe use it instead of Best Joke, and Hardest Comic to Follow would just go to AnnieMae. I'd also add Best Attack, awarded to the person who made the best comic strip - so a wider scope than single panel but narrower than best battle or overall champion.
And since it's a recurring theme in these tournaments, maybe a few categories involving the word "epic".

A while. This was definetly the weaker of the three tournaments so far, so what we're gonna do is hold the competition for a long while, get some new blood and let our oldschool comic powerhouses rest up more, so by the time we have another, there's a strong mix of new and old.

Well, this time we had some paint artists (me included) so unless you only draw stick people it should be ok I suppose.

The next tourney won't be for a long time, so you have plenty of time to practice.
I assume Relaps' goal or whoevers goal will be to wait for interest to die down, and then have the devoted Explosamurais clamour for another tournament so that it works out that all entrants actively participate and never miss a round.
Or some shit.

This tourney has turned into SNL circa 2004....and anyone that remembers that abysmal time for Lorne Michaels knows how that year turned out. It should definitely be a while till the next tourney.
I say at the very least 2 years. If the crowd grows impatient, do another one of those weird-ass'd crazy collaborative communal comics like last year...

Hey Annie, ever think that other members possibly like to watch the comic tournament and that one very two years or even every year would be depriving us of a means to escape our thrilling lives every once in a while?
It was about 6 months between the last tourney and this one, that's not bad going, it seems to be a perfectly reasonable amount of time to me.
So, please stop bitching about the tournament, I know you got beat by a letter and that you were pissed that people couldn't understand your comics (idiots), but please, drop it already?

But really, I think the tournament's going quite nicely, minus all the drop outs. Maybe setting a date ahead of time (like months ahead of time) would allow people to clear their schedules if they really wanted to participate. Things always come up, but maybe knowing further ahead of time would make some drop outs/DQs more avoidable.

I don't think many people would clear their schedules for this. The comic tournament often gets pushed back from the original date anyway.

I agree that this one wasn't as great as it could have been. I mean, fair enough I can't talk, I got disqualified in round 2 but looking at the other one (I was not around for the first) this one pales horribly.
Only thing I'm liking is the three way battle. Next one shouldn't be made for a long time. Hopefully then we'll have some new faces and get some good comics presented (not saying that the ones in this one were bad, just not as good as the last one).

But you definiatly deserved to win Urser, you really had some great rounds before last one (and you did good there too, but as mentioned earlier I just thought Lissa was better there) :)
