For portfolio shit mostly.
I've done like 4 or 5 e-portfolios over the passed couple years for school n college, but I've never put one up there on the intertubes. It might be a fun and educational adventure. Also, I just realised it costs like a fiver to register a domain for 2 years. Mint.
So a couple questions:
Can I keep my shit uploaded on free hosting sites, or is that a stupid idea?
Once I've created and hosted the site, and I've got a domain, how do I then connect the two?
Is there anywhere else I have to put money in?
Stupid idea, yes no?

Check that shit out.
You'd have to check with someone more knowing the internet that me, but thats a pretty good deal.

It really depends on what you want the site for as to whether you want to register a domain for it. If you are just doing a site for your friends to view I would stick with a free hosting site, but if you are looking for a site that is going to reach a larger audience I would register a domain.
When you register most places that I know of will transfer your site for a small fee (usually under $10 USD). The only place you might need to put more money in is if your site goes over the alloted bandwidth. Some of those charges can be substantial.

BOY WAS THAT EASY.
I bought a domain for a fiver, then instantly got ambushed by Zaren with offers of unlimited everything all the time for free. Fan-dabby-dosy.
In short: Everythin's sorted out now.

Probably Adobe DreamWeaver. I don't know whether that's good or not, but I can use it pretty damn well.
EDIT- What the fuck am I talking about, of course it's good.

Yeah for my meteorology 301 class it was a strange project and it used simple HTML designing.

Tombrien.co.uk. There won't be anythin on there for a couple days.
and I don't know any web scripting language (SURPRISED? YOU SHOULDNT BE). I should do, but I can wait for college to start me in the right direction for somethin like that. I should get some XML or PHP down just so I can dynamically change some text or whatever.
I seem to associate html with really boring linear interfaces on websites. I probably shouldn't do though. I want to make my navigation/interface as "analogue" as possible. That makes sense.

You could just make a blog for free or something. it depends how much control you want over your site. I made a blog the other day: http://dabamash.sosblog.com . Maintaining a website is usually very cheap. Also, the best way to pay off the cost of the site is to allow adverts.
EDIT: Ah, never mind. I didn't notice he post where you said you have already made a site.
