That has nothing to do with the supernatural ability to read minds. They test for schizophrenia by showing similar images. Schizophrenics have disrupted capacity to interpret affect/mood.

I got 23 trying, although I didn't know one or two words in there. What's funny is I'm great when it comes to knowing what mood my friends are in. I guess I'm not the best in the world at reading minds through 50 pixel black and white images.

Limiting one self to eyes is just plain old stupid.
While yes, eyes do tend to accurately express ones feelings, many other factors have to be accounted for. Everything from body language, facial expressions, posture, types of clothing and accesories etc. come into play.

Its all in the skill of cold reading and the better you get at absorbing all factors, and pretty damn quickly, the better you get at reading people.
